It isn't a fair fight. Most true electric cars would kill in a drag race, now have a long range race and see how many laps get lost while it recharges.
@@nerfherder4284 No you just have to race the 1/2 mile, Teslas top out at 155mph, so If you can get past that number and have enough road left, you can win consistently.

@@michaelgourvitch5323 Dave was either sandbagging or his Tesla was super low on battery during qualifying. If their times were the almost identical then, but Dave was almost 2 seconds faster in the race, there's gotta be something dirty. Also, an 1/8 mile is perfect for an EV, which has max acceleration at low speed, but runs out of power relatively quick, whereas the other ICE cars are the opposite, with less acceleration down low, but more top end grunt. And since he's the VP, it makes you wonder whether or not he used his power to intentionally throw the race in his favor, because if it was a 1/4 mile instead on an 1/8 mile, I guarantee you he would've lost early on.

As someone who was lucky enough to get a manual Volvo S60R for 2k when I was young and dumb my heart dropped when I saw the V70R had to face the Tesla first round, it would've had a good shot against everything else in the first round. Tons of car people don't even know the R's from Volvo exist but they're such unique and fun cars. I work for BMW and I still think the M66 6 speed they came with is one of the nicest manuals I've driven and when you open up the exhaust for that I5 they sound absolutely beautiful. If you can't tell I still miss that S60R 🤣🤣🤣

I actually started jumping out of my seat when the accord won that first race. I drive a 98 accord (same generation) that just hit 353k miles a couple days ago. I love that accord, its the reason I got into cars and how I even found this channel!
my dad had that accord. bought it for 6k in like 2010 for my older sister and then it was passed to my older brother and then me and then to my dad, and someone ended up hitting it back in late 2017 and he got 8k payout for it LOL more than he paid. I miss the car but that was overall a win for the family as that 8k went into a much newer corolla

Drive a brand new Mercedes and you will have fun driving it, but you will never learn about how it works. Drive a 20 year old Civic and you will get to know everything that makes a car, a car.
Also, a car is the largest depreciating asset you will buy in your life. Financially wise people dont buy brand new cars.

5:25 hatch backs become literal vans then you fold the rear seats. I've put a bonnet/hood and two car doors in a Ford Focus all at the same time and drove over a 100 miles back home.
Y'all should do this same thing but on a road course track. Would be much more interesting to see the handling nuances between cars not often pitted against each other.
I love how most of the cars accidentally portray every stereotypes of different car drivers.

I think they mean the V70R, not just the V70. V70s aren't super common in the states but they are around. Personally, I've seen only 2 V70Rs in person my whole life here. Even if you go online to buy one, there aren't a lot to choose from. I wish we had more here!

Not only Dave's Tesla has immediate torque, but he's also the VP of Corporate Business of the whole company, so that makes him the winner by default (else all of their jobs are on the line).
Corporate business means he works with sponsorships and places like zoomies for selling their merch. Has nothing to do with the individuals job
