they do get credited in the actual song credits as songwriters/other roles, they just aren’t the public face of the song

I thought everyone knew that Nicki didn't sing the chorus. I thought it was featuring someone else but thought they never put the feature in the title. And it's pretty obvious

How could we forget the infamous Taylor Swift vs Rihanna song in 2017
When I first found out about this it was sometime last year when I came across Cathy Dennis’s “Toxic” thinking it was a cover for Brittney Spear’s song, when in fact it was the total opposite. This happens with a lot of artists and a lot of the ghost singers double as ghost writers, with some of them leaving their backup & chorus vocals as a sort of footprint for recognition (I think) in exchange for being under the spotlight in some cases. There’s also just the demos in which the ghost singer/writer demonstrates the general idea of how a proposed song is supposed to sound and go from there.
It’s weird and I know I probably don’t have the info down 100%, but that’s the information I’ve garnered and I think this topic is really fun to explore.
While yes, Martha Wash provided lead vocals on "Everybody Dance Now", they weren't just lip-synced in the video by a model. That woman was Zelma Davis, who is an extremely capable vocalist herself, and was part of the group. She just happened to be thinner in a world where body image is more important than it should be.
I knew Jlo would be all up in this. Her whole career is stealing Ashanti and Christina Milian and countless other's demo vocals.

Now I can’t unhear his voice. He didn’t get any recognition but you do see him in their documentary working on the song.
