You guys should do a History of Kenshi. It's so fascinating that something like 75% of the game was done by just one guy.

I wonder how many other publishers looked at Cyberpunk as a cautionary tale and led to them being more tight-lipped about release dates. Elden Ring comes to mind, plus the year delay of Halo

Before Cyberpunk these broken unfinished games released (and got delayed multiple times):
Battlelfield 4, Battlefield 5, Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda, Marvels Avengers, Warcraft 3 Reforged, Fallout 76, WWE 2K20, Aliens Colonial Marines, No Mans Sky, AC Unity, etc.
After Cyberpunk These broken unfinished games released:
Outriders, eFootball, Biomutant, GTA Trilogy, Battlefield 2042, etc.
No one learns. Cyberpunk is not a cautionary tale. Same as why Fallout 76, Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda, No Mans Sky, etc. are not cautionary tales.

As bad as the launch was, this is honestly one of my favorite games. It’s incredibly immersive and in a much better state now.
Yup, same. I've been waiting for a proper cyberpunk game for ages. They made some mistakes but hopefully they can refine it if they make a sequel. It's still one of my favorite games

I also vote for a Witcher history video! My mind was blown to hear the connection to Baldurs Gate.

the 1.5 patch really got the game to where it should've been. I started playing it after that patch and i think the game is excellent.. gorgeous, engaging, immersive, and a ton of fun. I think it's going to be a top 10 game for me.

I never once thought cyberpunk would be anything more than a first person shooter RPG in a cyberpunk setting, and that's what I got, and I was happy with it for the most part. Could use some bug fixes, but a stunning world with great characters made up for it.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game, I love exploring the city and all the characters you meet, hopefully it can eventually become the game we all hoped it would be
The game is in a really good state now. Is it what we were told we were going to get pre-launch? Not quite. But post 1.5 it is a solid game now on PC, current gen. And they are adding more and more content so clearly, while slow, they are expanding the game in both subtle and not so subtle ways. The future of the game is much brighter than the first 12 months for sure.

Amazing review as always Adam! This may be a stretch, but for me, Adam is the Bourdain of the gaming industry. His reviews are so well written, insightful, with humor. Been almost 2 years since Adams been back and still so refreshing to see his reviews.
On the topic of Cyberpunk.... its so bittersweet for me. Its among one of my favorite games due to the world building, genre, music, and story telling.... BUT its impossible to ignore what potential this game had. I hope it develops over the years with future updates.
100%. Adam got me into game reviews when I was 10. Now I’m 28 and I couldn’t be happier someone with his perspective is back with G4 again. Adam is G4/TechTv to me.

Mike Pondsmith is actually very active on reddit, he has spoken about how he like's the game but he mostly just drives around and take's in night city, not sure how much he plays the actual game though.

Swear I love cyberpunk 2077. My problem is only the release,how they released it and the lies. The expectations from other people was probably worse though and I include myself. It nded up being the first game I ever pre ordered and one of my biggest disappointments as a gamer. Oddly though I never stopped playing the game. During launch I had a one s and immediately the game was blurry and crashed alot. It made me want to get a series s. So I sold my Xbox one s and got a series s. Soon after it played WAY better but it still was missing alot. I ended up having to sell my Xbox and started going with cloud gaming fora little while. In which at first I thought would never work then I ending up getting cyberpunk again on stadia because apparently it works the best on stadia and I'm not gonna lie it's actually fun to play on my tablet or know where ever I go I'll always have the game as long as I'm in wifi. Patch 1.5 fixed the hell out of the game.

Idk bout the company because the only game i played was witcher 3 and i didnt even finish it to this day nor was i as interested in it as i was cp 2077 but i can see why people love the witcher if they made the witcher 3 in a elder scrolls universe i wouldve been in love, maybe because i have a bias towards games that allow you to play as yourself. I love being immersed. All i have to say is the game is good behind all the bad things is a really good game and as far as people getting refunds i dont think people got as many refunds as you mightve thought plus alot of peopel that talked bad about the gane probably never even played it and just went by what everybody else was saying and allowed thlse thoughts to control thier mindsets but its good

True story; my lady bought me the big box collectors edition that came with the Johnny Silverhand statue, the special edition version of the game, steel book and some other stuff. She hadn't heard how broken it was for the Xbox One, so we took it all back.

The biggest mistake they made was taking the company public. Investors only want money, they aren't interested in making a good game. That said, I'm with Frosk in my love for CP2077, I didn't have any major issues at launch on PC fortunately and the minor bugs seem to have been addressed now.
I didn't have any issues on my PS4 Pro at launch.... but they still sold people an unfinished game wether it glitched out or not. They sold half a game for full price and knew what they were doing was shady. Bugs or not.

I would like Secret History of the Witcher Series.
I don't think the game was as much of a disaster as a lot of people portray it to be, however it is very clear it never reached even 50% of its ambition. I loved the secret(sh) history dive, the only point I think you missed was the severe code hack, and fallout of that, that severely contributed to the delays of their DLC and Bug patches.

It sure did take a good long while to get it done the right way.
This was a title I looked forward to back then. Then it blew up on cd projekt red's face. The current update and patch notes is the gameplay demo trailer they've shown. Wish they've done the patches soon. But this lost a lot of goodwill from the fans. Hope they bounce back.

I played the first six hours on the Xbox one X
It ran pretty good but the constant Internet backlash talking about the bugs made me hold off until the next GEN version. I held off because I didn’t want my experience spoiled by bugginess.
I’m so glad I did because on the series X it’s excellent. But definitely not flawless I have encountered maybe three bugs so far, none have been game breaking. Do those that have not tried it out definitely give it a go when it’s on sale

I think the game will get better in the future with additional DLC adding more depth but as of now it’s not just wasn’t what was promised
I've been playing since release on Xbox One, and while it had bugs it has gotten better and I still think it was better than other games at release, such as Fallout 76.

As much as a dumpster Fyre as this was; There was a non-zero number of people who played on PC, didn't see much if any pre-release info and just kinda actually enjoyed the game while ignoring a weird bug or two. I know I did.
The Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games ever. I don't know why they just didn't copy and paste what they did on that game with Cuberpunk, just like Bethesda does with Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

I don't see how. One is a an FPS and the other is melee combat, the worlds and mechanics are completely different. Besides, I wouldn't want to play a copy paste
