I have an ancient GPU that yields a triple digit FPS in GTA5. 0.07 FPS to be precise.
How do you even measure that
That's still single digit FPS, because you have only a single significant figure.
You got me there
@@rustler08 That's not really how significant digits work. They represent the accuracy of a measurement, which could be 5 digits for all we know, so 0.069438 FPS, for example, which still outputs to 0.07 FPS.

True. But my laptop only has the same Radeon 610 iGPU and it’s worse than the older Vega based iGPUs. It’s not often you get worse performance from newer parts.

FSR ultra performance at 1080p is 640x360p. FSR performance is 540p.
Edit: for some reason CZcams is hiding my additional comments under this one. I don't know why. Maybe because it's a longer one (?)
Trying here instead:
for @kyperactive
FSR/DLSS are upscalers that take lower resolution image and upscale/upsample it using AI (in case of DLSS and XeSS) to a higher resolution image to make it look like the display resolution you are currently outputting. They use different presets:
Ultra performance - 33% render res / 0.33 of display res (in 4K upscaling from 720p; at 1440p upscaling from 475p; at 1080p upscaling from 360p);
Performance - 50% render res / 0.5 of display res (at 4K upscaling from 1080p, at 1440p upscaling from 720p; at 1080p upscaling from 540p)
Balance - 58% render res / 0.58 of display res (at 4K upscaling from 1252p, at 1440p upscaling from 835p, at 1080p upscaling from 626p)
Quality - 67% render res / 0.67 of display res (at 4K upscaling from 1440p, at 1440p upscaling from 960p, at 1080p upscaling from 720p)
XeSS messed this all up in the latest 1.3 update. They have Ultra Quality Plus, Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced, Performance, Ultra performance. You can google the scaling factors - they are different from DLSS and FSR even though they have the same name.
😅
Edit2: oh no, I lost a ❤ from Dawid by editing it. 🥲

Damn, I really love the camera work in these new videos.
Something is clearly wrong with your setup. I have the exact same cpu and decided to load counter strike 2 up on the igpu to compare my results to yours. I was getting 3 to 4 times the performance you did at 1080p with all low settings and fsr disabled. And there is absolutely no reason why the GT 710 should EVER outperform that igpu. Something needs troubleshooting.
Agreed, my 3080ti had to be send in for RMA recently and I had to rely on my 7600x's iGPU for a few weeks. I actually got stable 60 fps in dota 2 1440p low, and decent performance on OW2 as well. Im surprised it scored so terribly here.
Just got back from a scout camp and I was not expecting a new video. A pleasant surprise!
It always makes me chuckle when Dawid says... "which is very exciting" XD
These Ryzen iGPUs really are just better than nothing, Never thought i would see UHD graphics do better my goodness.
It actually has me wondering what the iGPUs in the Alder and Raptor Lake CPUs are capable of. That might actually be neat to look at, Dawid, see what the current iGPU game for Intel is like. I have to imagine it can actually crush things like CS2 and DOTA, especially with sufficient system RAM.
the iGPUs in the 7000 series are just display outputs for troubleshooting, they're not made to be good for anything else

FSR 3 made my GTX 980 4Gb able to run Starfield at 60+ FPS peaking at about 130 FPS(all @ 1080p on a FX-6300). It is freaking awesome.
Vid?
I just helped my friend build a system. Although he can afford a 4090, he decided to run the igpu in his new ryzen.
being able to be beaten by UHD 630 is quite a feat.
and we got ourself a champion igpu. because it managed not to end itself while being tortured like that...
1080p at 1 fps was a big deal back in the 40s
FSR really does a lot. I was a bit skeptical but one of my rigs with an i3 12100F matched with an RX 6600 (very much a budget build made for couch gaming) runs even modern games far better than I could ever have wished for with FSR on Quality. Especially on my TV where I am not sitting as close to the screen as I do on my main gaming rig upstairs. Been playing through the Last Of Us pc version lately and with FSR 3 on Quality, graphics set to a mix of medium/high and even a few ultra settings I am getting a very steady 75-80fps with peaks reaching 90+fps, the drops being very predictable and only happening when going from cutscene to gameplay. Say what you want about stuff like FSR on the high end of stuff, but when it comes to budget gaming? Life changer.
i always wondered how frame generation worked 👍👍 thanks for the explanation

That bird in Horizon looks like Bianca out of Eastenders "Riiiiiiiiiiiickyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!"
Interesting that below a certain threshold, the whole game starts running in slow motion rather than just dropping frames. The opening cutscene from _Horizon_ was probably animated at a fixed framerate to be more "cinematic", but even the gameplay segment in the _Ratchet and Clank_ game was experiencing this. That tells me there's critical non-graphics code that needs to run on the GPU even if there's plenty of excess CPU cycles it could be using instead. Maybe it's one of those games where the physics engine basically controls all movement.
I love looking at the CPU utilization during all this. Its literally just idling most of the time :D
took me a hot minute to realize you were using the onboard gpu that's basically just there for basic desktop rendering, not used to talking about AMD apu outside of the specific models

The iGPU on the Ryzen desktop parts is there for troubleshooting, servers and for video decoding codecs. It isn't there for gaming at all. It would work fine in an office PC for example, and is actually really wonderful for all of us who use Ryzen desktop CPUs in servers. Prior to AM5 we had to use APU's only or run some kind of dGPU in a server, which makes no sense.

Love how Dawid has that old Alienware PC in the background. Back when they were actually good machines.
I'm still in shock at how well my GT 240 is doing, I've been using this thing for 14 years now and it's still surprisingly usable!
Lol. The igpu isn't for games, it's for encoding.
But still a fun video
it's not even for that, it's just to drive a couple of displays so mass-produced office OEM builds don't automatically default to Intel
And desktop, if you don't need game performance. For office software you basically need a video out and nothing more.
It’s not great at that either from my experience, AMD’s encoders are generally doodoo compared to Nvidia’s or especially Intel’s, buying an arc a310 or a350 would be a better idea than counting on an iGPU, or if you edit videos regularly Intel’s quicksync with their iGPUs massively decreases encoding times even with a dGPU, AMD makes good processors, and I’d buy one if you primarily game, and they wouldn’t be bad at all at video editing, but they wouldn’t be as good as an intel processor or GPUs from the other two brands
Yeah, i would rather get cheaper hardware that doesn't have useless "features".
This is in the same category as raytracing and NPU's, 95% of buyers will never need them.
Zen 4 Raphael iGPU is meant for USB-C / USB4 display output, it's mainly here for the copy engine and that's all.
Dawid, you seem to be running the RAM at 2400 MHz? That would be actually kneecapping the iGPU, no wonder it's that bad! Also, I found several videos on CZcams showing Horizon Zero Dawn in 1080 low/medium settings on a 7600X,and they show 30-40 FPS, so this result does not make sense...could you elaborate on your settings? Thanks!
Does Horizon actually not let you skip cutscenes? Maybe you just need to hold the button down for more than a frame
Good ol' 2 core AM5 iGPU. It can clock REALLY high at least. Supposedly has a built in voltage curve up to 2700mhz, so most people without tweaking can probably run it 2800mhz or +600. :D

I am going to quote this verbatim when it's time to give my kids "the talk" about where babies come from, with zero additional context.
How much ram did you dedicate to the AMD iGPU’s framebuffer? Something tells me the default.
It doesn't actually matter. With just 2 CU's it's not going to run any real time games released relatively recent.
I get the same framerate (5) with my 6900XT in CP2077 with all of the Raytraycing+Path enabled without FSR in 4K. With some awful looking FSR i get 10 fps!

Hey Dawid, I am aware of the games listed with Frame Generation from FSR 3.1, however, Call of Duty MWIII and Naraka Bladepoint both offer it even on Nvidia GPUs and it certainly works; In Warzone at 1440p. I would typically average ~150 FPS on 14700K/3090, with FSR3.1 I am now surpassing my 240 frame cap up to 327FPS, so the intro is slightly inaccurate due to AMD's own publishing.
You could have double frame generation. Turn on in game and from the GPU driver.
why is your IRL camera footage so relatively dark? did you change something?
Couldn't help but notice the No Man's Sky background on your PC, why don't you use that game for a test once in a while?

So my GT 1030 isn't so bad after all. Thanks Dawid.
Now we experience what studios have to go through to port modern AAA titles on the gaddam Switch
An iGPU meant for only web browsers playing modern triple a games is exactly what I thought you would try lol
FSR Frame gen works extremely well for me, I have a 7yo system with gtx1070 in ghost of tsushima very high 1080p i get 35-40fps, after frame gen its 80-90fps which is huge (I originally had a r5 1600, but just upgraded to 5700x3d)
My school had Windows XP computers in 2014. One of them ran Pinball with such a lag 😂
Well I didn’t know what you were expecting because the frame generation and so on only really works when you have a good enough frame rate for you to benefit from it. Let’s say it inserts extra frames between the existing one, interpolating the frame between the actual ones. At 4 frames per second you’re only going to get 3 extra frames, it’s simple math. If you want to see a true improvement you need to find a graphics card that pushes around 15-20 fps and suddenly it makes more sense.
I just wanted to ask what keyboard is that? TKL smth smth.
8:59 NOT THE BEES!!!!
The Radeon Graphics 128SP does have RT cores however. Techpowerup list the iGPU as being similar in performance to a Radeon HD5670. Which I'd believe as having seen how the HD630 handles games by comparison, and having played old games on a HD5650 vs Intel HD4600.
Edit: As part of the Rabbit-hole, AMD used Mendocino as the name for the further cut down Radeon 610M (the version found in; Athlon Gold 7220U, Ryzen 3 7320U and Ryzen 5 7520U). Though it still has the RT cores.
