I still can't believe the screwed up Monster Hunter like that. How hard is it to follow the lore already provided?

If there was one movie that did not need an outside military force special agent to save the day it was Monster Hunter.

There was also another Sonic movie that was planned. It was a animated film in the same art style as the newer Archie Sonic comics from late 90's early 2000's.
Guess what art style it was based on? Yeah, it was based on Ken Penders' art style, it was supposed to be a sonic animated film that he would have had some involvement in. Thank god it didn't happen, because Ken Penders is a horrible person.

I always find it interesting that Hollywood is so determined to go so far away from the source material that it then boggles their minds that it somehow fails. Sure, a 100% accurate adaptation is impossible for most games and their lore. But you can be faithful to it and still deliver a good movie/TV series. Why is that so hard to understand?
Add that to comic book movies as well
because filmmakers tend to hate video games and comic books. When they say "I'm a big fan", it's just PR BS
G4tv will end up with Sessler and Frosk being the two sole employees, arguing over who has to be the cameraman.

I feel like Hollywood always overthinks game movies since their stories are usually basic.
1) _Joust:_ Sports movie that involves riding giant mutant chickens.
2) _Bionic Commando:_ Cyborg super soldier with a grappling hook fights Nazis.
3) _Galaga:_ Top Gun fighting giant space bugs.
4) _Frogger:_ A fun journey adventure like DreamWorks and Pixar.
5) _Castlevania:_ A Hammer horror film but with more monsters and action.

Totally awesome and needed episode. You did miss a reference to the double dragon game movie. I was thinking they need to make a Sierra Online game into a movie maybe King's Quest, Space Quest, or Leisure Suit Larry.
Considering the Lone Ranger is one of the most expensive box office bombs of all time we probably dodged a bullet by Bioshock getting cancelled.
if they do one now it'll be ultra SJW like Infinite and that racist black lady from Bio2 to the extreme
J.J. Abrams is a good fit for Half-Life since it's an unfinished story with unanswered mysteries.
Oh thank god, that a live action castlevania movie wasn't released. Instead we got an animated series that was based on games. Also, a spin off series is in the works featuring Richter Belmont as the main protagonist.
This was a fun watch. I was glad to see Stranglehold mentioned during the John Woo/Metroid segment. Interestingly enough, that game itself was a sequel to Woo's 1992 film, "Hard Boiled," and was even considered for it's own film adaptation at the time. I would have loved to see a sequel to that and more in that universe, especially with Vin, but I also understand I'm as alone in this fandom as that one remaining Artifact player.

Surprisingly, the Five Nights At Freddy’s film is uncancelled and is set for an October release this year, so this X-Play canceled movies pick is now dated, but what’s not dated is that it’s confirmed that is not the Chris Columbus version.

I dont know what everyones problem is with the live action Mario Bros movie, I really enjoyed it. I think it should have been called something else, but I dont think it was as terrible as everyone claims it is. I dont believe it was great, but I did enjoy it.

We did get a five nights at freddy's movie, its just called Willy's Wonderland
The Mega Man movie was going to be a dark, but faithful adaptation according to the directors. Rumors suggested that they planned on adapting the Mega Man X series (which is probably a great idea for a more serious Mega Man film).
The recent Mortal Kombat movie was pretty good imo. It's not winning any awards for best screenplay but as an action flick it was great

I honestly don't see how a Mass Effect or Sims movie could do good. The main thing about those games is creating your own character and story and I don't see how you could make a movie that would please enough people.

What is it with movie adaptations of games and nostalgic properties always being prequels? A lot of these movie ideas were supposed to happen before the games. The Uncharted movie is a prequel, the GI Joe films are all prequels, the Halo TV doesn't get to the titular Halo until the end of the season -- why can't they just do adaptations of the things we actually want to see?

I know I am in the minority, but I loved Super Mario Bros. It's not a GOOD movie, but I don't know if I'd call it "so-bad-it's-good" movie.
Though I also liked Pixels and the first Resident Evil.
well there was a dantes inferno and dead space movie both were decent but animated as it should be with game movies..
They wanted to make the Assasins Creed movie take place during the Cold War? That sounds terrible. Unless they are talking about Desmonds plotline.

It's not a hard lesson but it seems like Hollywood will never learn it. Part of the reason these video games get popular enough to warrant a movie made out of them is their lore. It's already there! Stick to the script and maybe it'll actually be a GOOD video game film. Never gonna happen though. They can't get it through their heads.
