  • Valerie's Formula for Strawberry Tapioca:
YOU MAY USE THIS FORMULA FOR YOUR PERSONAL USE HOWEVER THE FORMULA MAY NOT BE SOLD OR PRESENTED AS YOUR OWN!
Always be sure to put through a Soap Calc first.
In this formula I used 38% Lye liquid and Super Fatted at 7%.
Sodium lactate was at 5% and added at room temp/warm when yogurt was added after cook.
This is a 2lb soap batch.
2 tbsp. of yogurt added after cook at room temperature.
2tbsp sugar mixed with 2 tbsp. water added hot after cook.
1oz of Apple cider Vinegar added hot after cook and 1tbsp maple syrup added hot after cook.
1.5tsp of tapioca powder mixed with 2tsp water and added room temperature after cook.
The oils and butters are as follows:
    5% Almond Oil,
    7% Avocado butter,
    9% Canola oil,
    13% Castor oil,
    13% Coconut oil 76degree,
    5% Kokum butter,
    19% Olive oil,
    3% Palm Kernel Oil Flakes,
    11% Palm oil,
    3% Stearic Acid,
    12% Beef Tallow.
I used 4 ounces of water and 1.25 ounces of Aloe Vera juice for my lye liquid along with 1tsp fine sea salt, mixed very well before I added my lye.
I used 5 ounces of coconut milk (3 ounce hot in the cook and 2 ounces hot after vaseline stage)
When my oils and butters were hot I added my 1 ounce of cooked strained oatmeal and 2 tsp of kaolin clay and stick blend well.
When my oils were around 195 degrees F,
I added my lye to the lye liquid and stirred well and let set until the lye liquid was around 181-183 and my oils were at 178F,
I then added the lye to the oils and did a little SB then added the 3 ounces of hot coconut milk.
Came to thick trace real quick.
I covered with plastic wrap and in 2minutes 30 seconds it started to volcano, I whisked it down and recovered and waited 3 minutes. Whisked it down and recovered another 3 minutes, it was at thick Vaseline stage.
I added the hot sugar water, apple cider vinegar and 2 ounces of coconut milk,
Waited 1 minutes and added Sodium lactate, yogurt andmaple syrup.
Checked pH and it was a 10.
Recovered for 5 minutes and then added the tapioca and FO. Thanks for watching, subscribing and commenting.

hello Ashley, thank you for stopping by and thank you so very kindly for those positive words...most of my HP, is manageable to do designs and ive done designs even with thick HP, but it doesnt matter at what temp you cook, or what method you use to cook, just saving some liquid for after the cook and adding hot really helps... i've give tips and hints with most of my videos on HP to make it more manageable, hope you get a chance to check them out, have a super day!

      @shalebrookhandcraftedsoap7907  Před 5 lety +1

Thank you! yes, this is HP done with high temperatures, so that it cooks itself really. You can do this in a crock pot, or on top of the stove, or in the oven or in the microwave... my normal way of doing high temperature HP is in a crock where I use the oils and lye at high temperaturs and have the crock on warm, then when it hits Vaseline stage I shut the crock off or even take it out of the crock pot. You do not have to cook at high temperatures to get "Manageable" hot process soap, you can cook on lower temps and I would encourage anyone starting out with HP to use low temperatures, I have a low temperature HP for beginners and it is called "Pink Lemonade" and I give the formula for it as well, not sure if you would have seen it or not, but it can help give you a better idea on Hot process and there is another video I have on "Low Temperature" hot process that has a simple formula as well and it goes through the different stages of HP. I still do CP as well, but HP is for sure my favorite. I hope you enjoy and do try HP and experiment and see what you like and how you like to do it. There are a few ways and i'm still learning even though it's been 5 years and I learn from new and old alike. Thank you again for your questions and interest.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I never knew you could do so much design with hot process. The method you used is very interesting - I am planning to try the hot process and it's the first time I have seen your method. I like it because the soap is so fluid which allows for creating swirls. Very well presented.

Hello Claudette Phillip and thank you for watching and for your kind comments. I have a few youtube videos on here and this one is high temperature HP, but I have a couple that are low temperature HP and they are done in a crock pot, sometimes in the Electronic part and sometimes out of it. They all have about the same type of tips , but I've swirled some real thick batter, and very few of my soaps are this fluid. What I like to get is a "manageable" batter :-), and remember the most important thing is that your formula is good for your skin i.e. non-drying and conditioning. big hugs

hello A Garrison, thank you for stopping by and thank you ever so humbly for those very generous and kind words, i appreciate them very much... there are quite a few really good HP soapers out there now and some of them make videos as well, Valerie Howell Holdren has a channel and Tina Moenck has a channel as well... i do most of mine now in a crock pot, as it maintains heat and i dont have to heat up my oils and lye so high... you can make smooth HP with lower temps, actually you can make HP with any temp in any method i.e. crock pot, in the oven, in the microwave, in a bowl on top of the stove, it's just saving some of that total liquid to add after the cook (liquid deducted from the original amount and added in milk or whatever you choose and added hot, and using yogurt , sodium lactate, and being quick of course and keeping all utensils warm / heated), so very glad you enjoyed it.

I would just encourage you to read up on it, watch videos, all kinds of soapers HP videos and then try a very simple batch at low temperature and then work your way up! I do have one on here called Pink Lemonade that is a low temp, with less ingredients --- but you already know about soap making, and I know you will do great!

Good morning Blanca Davila and thank you for watching. Thank you so much for your kind comment. You can also use your crock pot to heat your oils to the desired temperature and then take the crock out of the electronic part, add your heated lye liquid and it will work just like the glass bowl, But you have to be careful as the crock will still be warm and depending on your lye and oil temperatures it could volcano faster for sure. I do big batches that way, in my crock.

I've microwaved HP as well, and tried the oven, which I liked too, haven't tried on top of the stove yet, and of course then there is the way our ancestors made it! So many different ways for sure, I still use low temperature, but most of the time high temperature, and I can only do 2lbs in the glass bowl, for 3lb and up I heat it in the crock , then take it out and continue it from there. My hubby is a great helper for sure and I appreciate him very much. You are most welcome!

Hello Carla Leeson and thank you for watching and those lovely kind words, I really appreciate them. I've been soaping around 3 1/2 years and I'm still learning and hope I never stop :-) A formula can make a difference in how your batter will be manageable or not as well, how much lye liquid you use and so on, the size even can make a difference. Say you were doing a 1lb of this formula instead of a 2lb, it might take longer to get to Vaseline stage, as it takes longer to heat up (should be the opposite, but I found that's not so). Sometimes if I have a problem that the 1lb isn't working or even a 2lb , you can always pop it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, but keep an eye on it and make sure it's in a big enough bowl so it doesn't overflow. You are most welcome!
