  • When your paper targets, even your reactive, splash targets become boring, here is the perfect answer for getting your target practice exciting again. Pop bottles filled with white flour, bubbly soap, or even confetti … along with 80 pounds of air pressure can be the perfect answer. Boom! … Bam! … Whiz! … can liven up your target practice game. You don’t have to use the Umarex Gauntlet or Benjamin Bull Dog as Dr. Russ does in this video. Any break barrel or PCP air rifle from Gamo, Crosman, Hatsan, Seneca, Remington, Ruger, Kral, Diana, Beeman, Swiss Arms, Airforce, Stoeger, Browning or FX will do. Be sure and follow all the safety instructions found in the directions of Umarex’ s Blast Caps.

    Hi Dr. Russ
    Fun stuff indeed but not in my backyard, well maybe one or two......
    I just came in from the shop after mounting a scope on my new 25 caliber Avenger that arrived today.
    I'm not sure it's going to be backyard friendly, got a bit of a crack to it.
    Out of the box it had a 3Lb. trigger and shoots the Hades 25 caliber pellets at 930 fps.
    Planning on doing a head to head shoot off with a friend or two using the Gauntlet 25 and the Avenger 25.
    I adjusted the Gauntlet regulator to 2100 psi and it's shooting the 25 Hades at 900 fps.
    It's hard to compare the two rifles, the Gauntlet is 3" longer, heaver but much quieter.
    Thanks for the video, Be safe Rick

      I had to return one air rifle for a repair and was treated well so I don't understand.
      It doesn't seem likely that loading a 22 in a 25 could cause a problem but......
      If it were mine I would open the bolt and look down the barrel, if it was clear I'd test fire it.
      Hopefully Pyramid Air will get back to you shortly, Dang

    Doc Russ, I like interesting & challenging targets. I have videos of taking out a plastic egg at 200 yds with the .25 Gauntlet, shooting an ant-acid table the size of a dime at 100 yds and the head of a wooden match stick at 50 yds. These are “uncut” videos that show the number of attempts it took to reach success. I would welcome you to try your hand at theses challenges as I found them to be educational in understanding my rifle, ammo used and challenges weather plays in less than ideal shooting conditions. And most importantly, it was a whole lot of fun!!

      Motorgearhead .... thank you for the insights in your air gunning experience. I have written them down and added them to our 2021 idea planner. We currently have the next three months booked up doing a new video about every two weeks... so don't be surprised if you see some of these ideas show up in the Spring ... particularly comparing one air rifle with another..... Thanks Again. Dr. Russ

    • @russelljones4132
      @russelljones4132 Před 3 lety +3

      Oscar ... thank you for writing... and thank you for your suggestion. I will put your idea into our requested videos ... We have thru December in some form of action now... so it will be a 2021 video. In the meantime ... watch our Accuracy video ... which uses PCP air guns ... but the tips remain the same except for the way you hold your break barrel rifle.... and that is called the "Artillery Hold" ... which is a very loose hold and not a tight one like we use on Powder or PCP rifles. It is important for consistent shot placement to allow your break barrel to rock back and then forward ... like an Artillery Cannon... to consistently see the pellets hit in a nice tight group. Secondly, it is important to use the heaviest pellet you can get ...Pyramid Air has many available ... these add to the energy they hit with ... but their weight allows them to slow down into the 850 to 950 fps range ... which is the sweet spot for all pellet's to be accurate. There is no way they can be consistent ... any airgun ... when flying over 1000 fps. I hope these ideas help you until we do that comparison video. Again, thank you for writing. Stay Air Gun Sharp .... Dr. Russ

    Dr Russ, do any of your pellet air rifles have enough energy and speed to cover the marsh that is at the end of your back yard?

    • @russelljones4132
      @russelljones4132 Před 3 lety +2

      John ... the marsh and wetlands behind my home measure 880 yards away on my range finder. I don't attempt to shoot across that ... and I don't believe any of my air rifles will ... even my 357 magnums. We use a drone to double check that no kid is in a kayak out in those wetlands at a lesser range before any shooting takes place... we do check our shooting area and backstop, because I do believe pellets can ricochet off of a rock and cover 50 to 75 yards pretty well. Building a good back stop with dirt and square timbers is the key to making sure your pellets and or BB's stay in a particular range. Dr. Russ

    Cool video which pcp air rifle would you recommend 357 bulldog or hatsan bull boss?

    • @russjones7981
      @russjones7981 Před 4 lety +4

      Luisto... It is good to hear from you.... I hope to hear from you often.... the answer to this question depends on your skill sets... and how much value you put on the areas that these two guns have... check out the videos on adjusting the trigger pull and power. If these are maintenance things that are easy for you... you might like the Hatsan. If you like the 5 year warranty of the Benjamin... and lots of repair fascilities... go with the Bull Dog... If quiet back yard friendly is important... go with the Benjamin... if your backyard is going to have trouble stopping a 357... then go with the Bully in 25 caliber... this will probably save you the price of a moderator. If you decide to go with a 25 caliber... consider the Air Venturi Adventure for $300 ... which includes a regulator... and shaves 4 lbs of weight. I hope this helps... Dr. Russ
