  • Hi Guys, just unboxing the aquaclear 110 that I bought for my flowerhorns and a quick comparison with the aquaclear 70s. I was surprised at how big the sponge is in comparison.

    Those Aquaclear 110's are work horses. I have an extension tube on mine so it reaches the bottom, it sucks up more poop that way. But I have a bare bottom tank. Good luck with it, everything looks great.

    Hi prolificbreed, good videos, thanks for the helpful info. I was wondering if you would know how a 30 motor would do in a 50 case as to keep the flow low but gain more filter/ bio area. Thanks

    • @prolificbreedaquatics
      @prolificbreedaquatics  Před 4 lety +1

      Bigs thank you! You don’t need the entire motor. I don’t have a 30 but i believe the magnetic impeller is the same size from AC 20 - AC 70. All they change is the plastic blade to get more or less flow. Amazon has them here for not to much money amzn.to/36AOh23, you have to toggle to find the size you want.

    What will happen if the filter is running but not underwater for a long time? I've kept it running in my home and due to lock down im stuck in another state and I'm pretty sure the water would've evaporated by now... Will it cause fire if it keeps on running dry? Also i have a heater running dry too... Pls help someone...

  • @mikeyhoje1282
    @mikeyhoje1282 Před 4 lety +1

    Excellent video!
    I'd say it's 2.5 - 2.75x instead of 4x the size. Two 70's sponge side by side is 20% longer than one 110 in whole but one single 110 sponge is still 2.25X thicker than one single 70 vertically.
    2.5-2.75x is more within reason. ( I have two AC 70 filter side by side due to 110 is too wide to fit my tank.
    Thanks! :-)

    @--Paws-- Před 5 lety +1

    Is there a way to reduce the splashing noise from the filter? I don't have a problem with the noise of the motor but the amount of noise from the spout where the water cascades. It sounds like someone pissing.

      Keep more water in your tank if possible. I keep the water level in my tank right up to or even juuuust slightly above the the overflow lip of the filter. Mine makes zero noise as the water flows out of the filter onto the surface of the water without any drop or waterfall effect. My tanks runs nearly silent.

      Sand since semi nano. Might do a 15 gallon with ac70 instead. Priced it out to around $250. Thats everything from tank,filter,refuge led, tank led,sand,rock. Everything needed to start a cycle.
