- Just a quick video showing how I modified my 1996 12 valve to be shut off without having to pop the hood to kill it. Shutoff was broken for months so I finally came up with a cheap solution. Works!
I see so many vids of people messing around with fuel shutoff solenoid idk why everyone wouldn’t just do this thx for your vid I’m swapping my Cummins in my Chevy and I’ll definitely be doing this
You could even run it through your dashboard if you wanted to haha. I just put it in the easiest place possible.
The way that solenoid is designed is pretty dumb to begin with anyway. And with it being a manual pump it kind of made more sense to me to just bypass the electronics.
Another option is to rig it up the same way you do here but use a choke cable. I used the Edelbrock brand cable and it has a clean look to it and is just mounted on the lower left of my dash by my off road light switches. It looks clean and I can take the keys out and let my truck warm up or stay running in the winter without worrying about someone stealing it or a kid putting it in gear.
Cool man. Doin this today. Thanks for the vid.
I’m use to a 4bt so I couldn’t find it on a my friends 6bt he let me drive and the battery died! I was under the truck looking for it! Haha! Thanks
I recently bought a 96 Dodge dually with a 5.9 ltr engine. Had the same problem. Went to a salvage yard and bought a used fuel shut off solenoid for 55$. Installed it and had the same issue. It has to be the inline fuse wire.
*Update* so at the time of this video, I was unaware that this shutoff was available on amazon for $30. They are expensive as a dealer item, but cheap on amazon. I would either do this as a temporary fix or shut it off by hand by opening the hood and manually doing it until the new one came. Unless you just like feeling like you're driving an old manual shutoff tractor, in which case, this is the way to go 😊
Do you have a link for the one available on Amazon?
love the sony xplod beeping
😂 close. It's actually a pioneer.
Still have the truck?
Good ta know if i get in a jam and i need ta make it run. thanks!
SnakePliscan2 itll shut it off not make it run
Regular cab dually🤘🙌
Yeah i sold it... I miss it though haha
@@bargainbear1483 I found a regular cab dually recently...now sits my 69 bump side cab on it. should be on the road in a few weeks. Thanks to your vid I now know how Im going to incorporate a kill cable to my factory Ford gasser choke pull handle. Thanks dude
Hey, if it works why not.
So its running away and how do get down there
Sorry i don't quite understand the question..
@@bargainbear1483 what's so hard ,,you have it on The floor it very simple
Go to Napa and get a choke cable witha knob. You need stiff wire not that cable shit. Thats is trash
oh yeah!!! ha ha!
Or just dump the clutch with the brakes on.
Mine was an automatic....
That wears your syncros
@@midwestoenr4905 Forgive me for my ignorance, but how would that wear the synchros if you're already in gear? Wouldn't the shift forks not be pressing on them? Every mechanic I've spoken to says that stalling, which is essentially what I'm talking about, doesn't hurt the vehicle one bit, but anyone can be wrong, even pros.
$250_00!!!! Are you sure that wasn't built by Mahindra?
I have a 12 valve Cummins and it won’t crank, it has new batteries and a new starter but still won’t crank
Make sure you have power at the starter. I'd probe the power feed wire with a test probe while someone inside is turning the key. If you do, your new starter might be bad. If you dont, you either have a break somewhere in your power supply cable (I've had that happen on a cummins) or you probably have a bad ignition switch.
@@bargainbear1483 how do I test if I have a bad ignition switch, I got my starter from extreme diesel and I hear it working
@@hazzurs so is the starter actually spinning? Because if it's spinning but not doing anything, you're missing teeth on your flexplate.
@@hazzurs I guess I should ask, do you just hear the starter solenoid click or can you actually hear the starter spinning?
@@bargainbear1483 when I turn the key to turn it on I hear a click or some noise every time I try turning it on
