Cog Hill Farm & Homestead
I’m so happy that Holly’s former owner is able to watch Holly’s fabulous life with Jason and Brooke on TV! Holly is such a cutie!
YES! Linda's so right! If you see this former owner we all thank you for giving her up to Cog Hill!
I am so glad Hollys former owner can see her! ! love how she follows Jason everywhere! She is a beautiful Dog! A great fit for the Cog Hill Farm!😊😊😊
And I hope you are feeling better! :-)
Holly is already devoted to Jason. The way she instantly responds to his commands. The previous owner trained her well.
Maybe, one day, she will join us on chat or in the messages.
So nice to see Holly and Arlo running around having fun together! Love your videos!
How could anyone think you or Brooke would not love all your animals unconditionally??? That is why I continue to watch your channel - the love and care for all the animals! Even the wild ones! Thank you for sharing your animals with us! Much appreciated!
Some people watch these channels just to point out negative 🙄 points that don't actually exist. I think it makes them feel important . Ignore them or bloke them that's all you can do.
@@Carole2Kittensthose are pretty sad people I say, but you are right they go channel to channel doing that. 😢
I wonder what happened to those pigs they had.
I love you guys! Your videos are great! Thanks for sharing your lives with me! I am 67 years young and have 2 cats and 2 kittens. Love them all also.
Holly is the Ideal dog for farm life …she’s living her best life ❤
I'm so happy to see Arlo and Holly enjoying each others company. They are both such happy pups.
Looking forward to future episodes of "The Creature of Cog Hill"! 🙀
This is my favorite family farm to watch, day and night. Y’all are awesome!!! The property is a piece of heaven and y’all take excellent care of it. I’m seventy nine years old and have hundreds of tv channels…by far this is the show I watch the most. Give beautiful smart and gifted Mary Carl a big hug from me.❤❤❤
I am 53 and have my own farm but absolutely love this channel.
Good luck on identifying your creature. Holly looks like she’s been with you from the beginning, she fits in so well.
The very best was watching Tucker choose to ride over to the other side, and then she and Holly off playing. What a joyful video!
You know a Schnauzer is a ratter. Had a creature been in the hole, Arlo would have alerted. I hope you discover what it is, and can displace it safely, well before Spring planting!
My bees have been checking out my red maple tree every day wondering when it's going to bloom. They love it.
I was just going to say you need some wildlife trap camera all around the area… especially if it’s a nighttime animal. It won’t disturb them but will get some great pictures. Best one I remember was this one guy kept finding his pool half empty every morning. Turned out to be a bear kept visiting for a nighttime dip and he was just sitting there relaxing. Was hilarious.
It's nice to see Holly just fitting in like she was there from the start. I am interested in seeing what the mystery critter is, and having fun reading the guesses.
Looks like Holly has completely bonded with Jason
Can't wait to see what is doing the digging. Love your farm. It is beautiful!
I absolutely love your new picture at the end. Beautiful family.
As for the mysterious critter in the pasture……. I think it has now become “The Cog Hill Conundrum”🤔🤣 Like I’ve said before, Jason, Brooke, Mary Carl & Brooke’s Mum have an endless supply of love for all of their animals, birds & bees❤️ Take care & cheers🐨🦘🥰
Hello Donna 👋 How are you doing today?
I can't believe bee's drink that ratio of sugar to water hummingbirds isn't that sweet. I think your mystery animal is an armadillo 💕
Bees and Hummers both drink nectar, so it makes sense it's the same ratio.
Miniature Schnauzers are natural ratters. Had anything been currently living in that hole, Arlo would have gone nuts! I think you can at least rule out a mole or a vole because you don’t have tunnels just underneath the grass. Other than that, I have no idea what the Cog Hill creature could be. I hope the cameras show you something soon!
The Creature of Cog Hill sounds like a swamp thing Era b movie, haha
I thought the pup was quite disinterested in that hole too!
Holly is such a sweet girl, she is making friends with Tucker and Arlo. That was so sweet to see them running around together. I'm not sure what animals you have in your state but it really doesn't look like rabbit poop. I can't wait to find out what critter it is that makes so many holes. 🥰🥰🥰
Holly is such a good fit for you on Cog hill! She’s adorable! ❤
Good blessed morning Cog Hill family! Yeah!!!! Another vlog! Love you all!
I’m sure you’ll catch something on the trail camera if it’s still around. Best of luck. The pups love the freedom to run and they are so cute.
Holly helps keep Arlo entertained, and herds him to you.
My husband's first guess is armadillo. Second guess skunk. But with the rooting, it looks to be armadillo. We love watching Holly and Arlo running around. Holly seems to like to herd him. Lol!! Thanks for sharing your life with us all!!
I looked up pictures and it looks exactly like an armadillo Den and I really love Holly she's a great addition to the family and that new aviary and Mary Carl's room it's gorgeous
Love watching the dogs play, ❤️❤️❤️❤️. It’s also nice to see you walk around your property
Hey Jason! We have gophers to contend with. These are not gopher holes. I wanted to address the Vultures. I have observed them congregate in large groups sunning & grooming. Crows do the same. The Vultures aren't eyeing the living though. Just using the Sun while it Shines! 🦔?🥰I love the way sweet animals are attracted to your family ❤
Can't read all comments to see if anybody has mentioned it but looks like you have a very large family of ground hogs. Google that. They can dig up a beautiful grassy yard and leave mound after mound in a short time. Try putting moth balls in holes to run them out
I love how Holly has fit in with your family & furry family! She is lucky you found her!
I had an armadillo in my back property once and it looked just like what yall are seeing! My neighbors dog started barking one night and it's owner went out and saw an armadillo. It must have moved on after that night because we never saw it again and the digging stopped. A couple of years later we had marsh bunnies show up but they relocated too. That armadillo sure tore up the ground!
Ground hogs are a farmers bane. Usually the holes are dangerous causing people to fall. They like to make their burrows near wild trees that bear fruit. I am not seeing large holes so it might be an animal that I am not familiar with which would be an armadillo.
I had an armadillo & it too, looked just like that. Use caution!!!! Armadillos carry leprosy.
Google says: "Spray ammonia around the area where they live. The smell of ammonia will make the armadillo leave its burrow, and you can catch it with a trap. Armadillos are known for their fondness for sweets. You can lure them out of their hole by placing fruit near the entrance to the burrow, and they will come out to snack!"
I'm anxious to see what the mystery creature is. Hope it shows up soon . loved watching Arlo and Holly running and playing together. They are both so sweet!💙
I think your mystery creature is a groundhog. Thank you for involving us in your mystery creature adventure, it is so much fun to watch. Great video, looking forward to another video i the future. What a wonderful family you have. Take Care and Stay Safe.❤❤
I love a good mystery! The Cog Hill Creature has me intrigued. Jason Holmes and Brooke Watson are on the case. Good luck!😁
Good Morning Cog Hill Family & Squad…have a wonderful Friday!
Holly sure fitted in with your pets…they all seem to get along together. Maybe your guard dogs keep whatever is digging dens away from the rest of the workable farm. Once you put up the barn, it may be a different story. Love your videos and family life.
Hello Sandra 👋 How are you doing today?
Hole is to big for a rabbit
Hey Yall, Im a new subscriber, part of the Morrow family. I have heard you have some great stuff on your channel and I am excited to watch! Lots of my subscribers love you as well so that's got to be a good sign right?!
Hi, Stephanie!!! I recommended you come over. Jason has amazing garden skills. Miss Mary Carl is an expert on farm birds and pigeons. And Miss Brooke is amazing in her own right.
If it's not an armadillo, it could be a fox. The burrow looks a lot like those we use to have. Look for another back door burrow nearby. The fox burrows on our place were always near a large tree (pecan in my case) or a small line of trees close to the woods or property line. The small holes look more like what an armadillo would do in their search for grubs & such. But foxes also eat insects as well as a variety of foods. They do prefer meat, though. So you should check the perimeter of ALL your fencing near the base & see if you find any scratching or fur. Or it could be a rabbit den since the poop you found looks like rabbit poop. Fox poop is more like cat poop.
This sounds yucky but as long as he’s out there to walk, Jason could pee at each site to deter them. It works the old folks say, to make them move on.
I think it would work on any kind of animal.
Boops, not boot. He punches them with his nose so he gets to chase.
Aaàaz
Fire ants?
Good morning, Cog Hill It could be a rabbit den. Can't wait to see what you discover. Enjoy the thrill! 😊
Good morning Cog Hill and all of the Cog Squad. Hope you find out what your mystery animal is. The farm looks wonderful. Would love to have a place like that to live. Y’all be good.
Our dog was killed 2 weeks ago. He sent us a beautiful lil pup and our hearts are slowly healing. We love our dogs so much. We’ve had dogs for 25 yrs. That was the worst 2 weeks of our lives! I’m so glad you have Holly. That’s my name too! 🤣♥️
That is what it looks like when moles come up out of the ground. They can make so much damage. And they are hard to get rid of.
You may or may not see activity on your camera for a while. Armadillos usually have many burrows that they use to sleep in or hide in depending on how large their territory is. To catch them, requires a wooden trap specificly scented by armadillos. You can buy them prescented by the builder. They can really tear up a lawn looking for and eating grubs and worms.
Maybe Arlo will start hanging around more reliably with Holly around to play with? If not, nothing lost; he is still a great pet, but Holly has a lot of energy to expand. Different dogs have different personalities, as you say, and different needs. It is great you don't expect the same from each individual animal. Just another example of CogHill excellence :)
Hi...... Jason and Brooke nice to see you love watching your videos homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🦃🐩🐕🐈🐐🐄🐖🕊🐝🌱🌺🌹🌻🌼🌸🌷🏡🎥👍👍👍
This is off subject but since the Victorian Crowns love Cedar y’all might want to plant a few more around the farm so y’all have more trees to gather branches and greenery from in future years! I love y’all’s videos and loved seeing MaryCarls Aviary in her room and love seeing the progress with the V. Crowns , and of course I love all the animals on the farm and your projects ! ❤️🙏🙋🏻
Great idea to plant cedars around the aviary. Repellent to insects and disease 🐦
@@joannathesinger770 ??? Weeds?
Looks like an armadillo :) They will root around like pigs looking for grubs. Most of the time they will have a "nest" under a brush pile. They will start to dig "burrows" in the area but usually will go back to their brush pile. This time of the year in Ok. when the nights are cold they will come out in the day when the temps are about 50 degrees or more. If its too warm during the day they will come out in the evenings , night or early mornings. They are extremely fast to catch. Just a suggestion: you may have your cameras set too high. Armadillos are only about 12" -14" tall.
Loved learning about the bees feeding in the winter and seeing Holly and Arlo walking with you. I'm up north in Massachusetts so may not be the case where you are, but damage like that in my yard has been from skunks and possum and they seemed to come around every few days vs activity every day. You may need to increase the sensitivity on the camera to capture them. Hope you are able to catch it on camera so you know what you're dealing with.
The farm has changed so much in the last year
See if Oregon Grape, Witch Hazel, and/ or Forsythia will grow in your area. Each are early spring feeding shrubs for pollinators in this area, pretty hardy, and can be left to thier own devices after a year or two post transplant if in the right space. Flowering Quince and eating Quince are another set of early bloomers which are tough as nails.
Hi from coastal GA. I think your mystery animal is an armadillo as well. I have had one before too. Looks like an amardillo burrow to me. Anxious to see your cam results
Thank you for sharing this mystery! Mysteries are fun to chase around. If you put a camera by the water, maybe you’ll find the creature from the Cog Hill Lagoon! 🐉🦎🐍😱
Arlo is sooo darn cute! Holly too! All the animals are precious 💙❤️🫶🇨🇦
Another fantastic video. I love your content❤️❤️❤️
🤔hmmmm! Yup! This ole city girl don't have a clue, but I sure am excited to find out what it is! Love watchin y'all's channel. Always informative or just plain fun! God bless!😊❤️
My dad lives in Bushnell Florida he thought he had moles in his yard; turns out it was a mole turtle.
Mole turtles can make holes like that and live in the ground and they can't see during the daylight; is my understanding.
Can't wait to see what kind of creature it is.
God bless you guys have a wonderful blessed day.
😇🙏🕊️🩸🙏😇
Sure hope the camera's pick something that is having a field day in the pasture. Y'all have some nice dogs and enjoy watching them. Holly has become a great addition to the farm. Thanks
Love the WE in this family!!
Good Morning Cog Hill Farm ❤️ 🚜
You guys love your dogs the same but you love them differently. Yuuup, understand that totally!! As always God Bless you all on Cog Hill Farm ❤️ 🚜
My experience with armadillos is I had one living in a back corner of my subdivision garden. It never bothered my garden area much, but it shore tore up my manicured front yard! Little holes like you are seeing. I found out they are eating grubs, which for us is junebug larvae. I didn't care about organic back then and I treated the grass with soil insecticide, killed the grubs, and the armadillo moved on. The darn thing scared me one evening before dark as I watered the garden and it just came walking up to me and didn't give a hoot that I was there! I know they have terrible vision, but it might have been deaf as well! We'll see if your camera catches anything! Texas Deb ❤️😁
In my area, I've noticed that young armadillo siblings will hang out with each after their mother leaves them. They roam around a lot based on where they find the most food and their one night activity seems high because two or more of them will really tear up the ground.
They may not return to the same area for a week or so as they try out different places to rest during the day. Eventually they will split up and start their adult lives on their own. You probably had a few of them visit your pasture and may have scared them off, if they were in that den, when you were talking to each other.
I would put out cameras in the area of current damage. From what I see in your video, it could be armadillo or ground hog. Either are not easy to trap. A camera will help a lot to actually see what critter is doing this.
I love how Tucker and Holly were consulting with each other about the farm. I think Peaches is mayor emeritus. I think Holly and Tucker are Mayor and assistant mayor
So sweet how Jason put his arm over brooks shoulder
Hope you catch the critter! Googled armadillo damage and it looks like your situation, hopefully the cameras will catch some action and solve the mystery!
Writing from Southeast Missouri. My neighbor counted 121 holes in her small backyard. She is a CPA which explains why she counted them 😆. Turns out, her culprit was an armadillo. She called the city animal control, and numerourous attempts were made to trap the critter. Apparently, Armadillos are quite difficult to trap. Eventually, he moved on. Good luck!!!
I was also thinking Armadillo !! Or maybe a hog !! 🐖 Holly and Arlo were having fun following their daddy !!!
My instinct says this is the ancient creature, armadillo. Glad to see Holly loves Arlo and Tucker.
I seen an armadillo on a video recently digging out a hole in a bank and it resembled that big hole you have. It’s not a mole I don’t think, I hope you figure it out soon. Have a great day!
we have had holes like that in the past year or so. for us its groundhogs. they have a series of connected tunnels and go back and forth. Put something smokey down in one and see if smoke comes out of another hole.
The Adventures of Holly & Tucker
Keeping all of you in my prayers 💕🙏🏼
You have a big beautiful pieces of land ❤
Do you have wild hogs there? Other than the den. It looks like our property that was tore up by wild hogs rooting around that we caught on camera. I can't wait to see what it is.
The Cog Hill creature adventures continue I’m thinking it’s an Armadillo but we all might be surprised we’ll see good luck hope to see it on camera soon Jason and Brooke hate to see it tear up your garden or something . Nice video as always thank you
Awesome y’all got the trail cameras up can’t wait to see the mystery critters.
Good morning Cog Hill and Cog squad ❤. I hope everyone is safe and enjoying life. Everyone remember to smash the like button for the best channel on U Tube 💯❤❤❤❤❤❤👍
I have a similar problem in california, mostly vole
with some gophers mixed in. They have been a plague here for the last 2 years. Now I have raccoons and foxes digging up tunnels and dens. My garden looks like ground zero. Wishing you and your family a wonderful new year
Gopher/ground hog. Fox and ‘Yotes dig into a large den but that’s usually in the side of hills or under rocks/felled trees.
Good to see Tucker! 🐈⬛
Good Morning Cog Hill and Cog Squad!!! It’s another great day!!!
May I suggest that you use a buddy strap to connect your two dogs. It is used to help train dogs. It is about a foot in length and connects to the collars of the two dogs. Since Holly stays close to you and responds well to you, I think it would help relieve any concern of Arlo wandering off when he is connected to and learning from Holly. Worth a go. Thank you for sharing your journey.
That sounds like a great idea.
I think Holly is already herding Arlo. When they are running around Holly was turning him to run back to Jason. Jason needs to learn how to intentionally call Holly back to him and a "bring" call for her to bring Arlo back too. So cute to see them run. I bet Arlo needed a big nap!
@@patchurch1677 . That might be why Arlo didn't want to go back out when Jason went out. He couldn't go where he wanted to because Holly was herding him.🤣😂😂
I have no idea what the critter is , but good luck with the cameras:) the dogs running around is so cute how Holly makes she Argo is staying with her:) Please you don’t need to apologize because you couldn’t capture a picture:) tfs stay safe and God Bless:)
Skunk?
Not sure if you noticed that Holly was "herding" Arlo while they were running, doing her job. She's beautiful.
Others have said it as well but look for another hole, burrowing animals always have a back door.
Hi there Cog Squad I would check out for more burrows near by because that one looks inactive for now and there is usually more than one. I am leaning more to an armadillo but could totally be wrong. Arlo and Holly looked like they were having fun exploring so cute have a great weekend take care God Bless. 🙏💕
I had something digging up my yard like that and it turned out to be a porcupine interesting huh. Thank you for sharing as always. God bless you and your family.
From what I see, it's doesn't look like a mole. That usually are bigger mounds on top. So perhaps you are right with armadillo
Bring your granddad over he would know and he could see your beautiful homestead and all y'all's hard work...
Holly certainly fits into the Coghill farm life.
Looks like a pretty huge colony of moles they're specially active when the weather is warm looking for worms and grubs
The little holes look like skunk damage we get in Ohio. They are after grubs and worms. We don't have armadillos up here, so not sure what kind of damage they do.
I agree!
That's what I said. They tore up my Cousins whole yard. Skunk skunk skunk. Careful Holly
WOO, sounds like the movie "Tremors", you all are so patient with everything going on, the Cabinets. No worries, love you all and love your videos, absolutely hilarious 😆 🤣 😄, love watching the fancy pigeons and watching them build their nest, and l do miss Mary Carl in the videos, so so smart, ❤️ 😊, you are all geniuses, keep on Dancing Jason, you all make me 😊 happy!!!!
Brooke, you are a very brave woman, watching those bees flying so close to your hands, I feared you would be stung numerous times. Love all the videos and wish a happy and productive New Year for the family. God bless all of you and all the animals.
A bee sting can be healthy for 1 if they're not allergic. It's venom has powerful anti inflammatory properties and can benefit the health of your skin and immune system. It can also improve certain medical conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and chronic pain.
The downside is it can hurt like h3ll and the bee dies.
Good luck finding your digger. I was doing some deep raking in my yard and found a huge highway of tunnels. It would be interesting to know if you have a highway hiding under ground.
Hope ya get some video on your game cameras😊
I've been thinking that that mystery critter could do some damage to their new dam for their future pond.
so glad to see you taking Arlo with you for your walk around the farm...
Oh no!!! We planted our garden 2x’s one year. We had a whole family of ground hogs. A daddy, momma & 4 babies. We used a couple have a heart cages and relocated them.
That can also be a Skunk den. We had one on our property and my husband went looking for what it was. He found out alright. Bunch of babies. He said babies won’t spray. Well they showed him. I couldn’t get the smell out of my bathroom for over a month.
Can't wait to find out what the mystery critter is. Hopefully soon...before Jason plants the next garden.
Im going with armadillo, we have similar damage in our yard and have seen them come out of our bushes. The scat is very similar as well.
Love the family picture at the end of the video, touches my heart strings.
Look at online pictures of Armradillo holes. Eek! Neither Arlo nor Holly had reacted near that hole - it's occupant must have been gone. Stay safe! Good luck catching the critter!
My Dad’s solution to moles is drop a stick of wrigleys spearmint gum into each hole. He was from a farming home in SW MO.
I’ve heard of juicy fruit, but never spearmint. Southeast ohio here and my mom does this and it works. I guess they cannot process the gum and die. I’ll tell her try spearmint and see if they like it better. Lol
@@donrainesoh well, it was a very long time ago, so my memory could be off… but I remember Dad waging war on moles and trying different flavors. Side story: My brother stuck his arm into a hole and got bit on the hand, and we had to take a long drive all the way to Jeff City for treatment in case he had contracted rabies! I was pretty young, but I remember all the hoopla over that! Plus, of course, there were all the jokes among my siblings that involved foaming toothpaste…
