The only thing that is great about this video is production quality.
Maybe its because we come from a time of simpler, rudimentary handheld (i.e Nokia 8310) that aside from phone calls, calculator, and the main web browser, this is doing "good" GREAT.

expensive phones have a lot of unnecessary features that most people don't use. while the budget phones has all the necessary features any perform them very well specially battery life.
EricJon agreed. just picked up a refurbished galaxy s5 for 270. runs marshmallow and runs super smooth. love it

But mostly, they're gettin good. If you want this phone to be cheaper you can get the Amazon Ads version, or try to price match it on BestBuy

for that price I would much rather buy a used galaxy s6

I'm picking up the Moto G5 plus after my OneplusX got water damaged and died. It was such a good phone and I hate that I had to get rid of it...I hope the Moto is as good to me as that was! NFC and Rapid charging are a plus so maybe I'll be swung back over to Motorola when my G5 plus arrives. If Oneplus bring out a successor to the X though; I might be swung back!
I also had the X and I loved it! But it doesn't work anymore because I fell in water :(

I've had this phone for three years now, and I drop my phone every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. It's been thrown down stairs plenty of times on accident and hit concrete countless times. I have a cheap silicone case on it from amazon and a tempered glass screen protector. While the screen protector has had some cracks and scratches in it over the years, my phone is COMPLETELY fine. It's starting to slow down just a tad bit, but nothing too bad. I'm realizing now when considering a new phone that I've been so spoiled with the durability as this one. It's a true gem. I hope the newer motorolas are just as durable!

I suggest you unlock the bootloader and install a custom Android 10 ROM like Pixel Experience. Makes it a bit snappier IMO.

@@milanthakkar9493 really? I don't notice any lag on the evolution x rom and I use a OnePlus 6T as my main phone.
@@rmendez011 Most if not all custom roms that were created for the moto g5 plus were created for the 4gb version. The 2gb version struggled to run these. Apps would be extremely slow to open, gcam would always crash since there wasn't enough memory. If I used google maps and a music player for example the music player would close in the background. Just an all around bad experience. Your 6t probably wasn't hindered by hardware like my g5 plus was.

Jordyin Mariee I got a moto g5 plus and it lasts like 10+ hours on battery don't do heavy gaming but its still awesome for vids music and texting like regular people would use it for charges like 60% in an hour 😹i usually don't ever have to plug it up

I love how you always "frame" your shots with random bits you have lying around so it's not just an empty background like most smartphone reviewers. Like at 1:21 you have a mug, a plant, a cable, and a moto g5 phone case evenly spread on all 4 corners of the shot with the phone in focus in the middle. You even did the same kind of framing when you're holding the phone in your hand at 2:22. Such great attention to detail :D

My g5 Plus is an amazing device. The battery is the best part. It never dies... seriously. And the charge is SO fast. The camera, well yeah, hard times in low light but in day light, is just like a Nexus 5X. Amazing photos.

@@Kariim21 - Mine is, have had it for more than a year, and after many insane falls and slams it is still very much alive. I got it at approximately $225. My main points are the indestructibility, and Moto Actions where you can shake the phone for flashlight (much more useful than you expect) or twist for the camera. Any questions?
@@Kariim21 Mine isn't even a year and is preforming terribly, it freezes up and won't leave sleep mode unless I restart it. It overheats whenever used. I deleted all of my installed apps as well as my music, images, and videos, and it's only getting worse. Don't buy this phone...

Which phone is the Best one for this price point now at December 2017?
It doesn't have a notification blinker light for when you get a text message or miss a call. It's a simple feature, however it becomes apparent how useful it is when you don't have it.

I had mine for 2 years and not really any big complaints but I had screen envy and bumped up to a Redmi Note 8 pro after this and it felt like night and day at the time for basically the same price. But this was definitely a great phone at the time.

Federico Rodriguez yeah nfc is useless here in the states too. I think I first got nfc many years ago and all I used it for was to share a pic with someone to try it out and I've never used it again in probably 5 years now.
But, the US one has a magnetometer, so better for navigation.

I have the G4 Play. It's good for its price. I wish I had a better and bigger phone with more hardware stuff in it. But it's a perfect phone for kids or people who often drop their phone.

I replaced my s7 with the 4gb ram model of the g5 plus, and the g5 plus is so much better
also: the camera is incredible. I'd say the EIS is comparable to that of a pixels, and the stills are amazingly sharp. like, they put the S7 to shame sharp. I'm very picky about my phone's camera and this phone definitely focused on the camera, both front and back. (the front camera is a bit too sharp-it's a bit uncomfortable)
chiru G they both have their ups and downs, I couldn't stand the battery, overheating, lack of storage (both 32gb and TouchWiz) or severe oversharpening of the S7 s camera. G5 plus isn't the world's greatest phone, but for what I do it's so much better. I mean, it does have a great LCD, but I'll admit I miss AMOLED

@@deepakgulrajani9549 the s7 was a laggy piece of trash with awful battery life. a few months ago I switched back to it to try Samsung pay and it was like 10x laggier, it overheated like hell, and the gps nearly got me into like three accidents because it was so slow. I live in the US so I have the snapdragon varient, which is a lot different from the exynos. switching back to the g5 plus was so nice, I missed touchwiz features tho so I bought a OnePlus 6 in September.

I ordered MotoG5 Plus exactly at the stroke of midnight, when it was up for sale in India; it's been weeks since I'm using this budget smartphone; it's a good phone; camera quality is good; the biggest drawback is the speaker. The review is spot-on, albeit a little late. Nonetheless, the definitive reviews come from MKBHD.
The western markets are missing out on so much...Seriously, come to India or China, the variety of smartphones under 300$ is insane. You can get sd820 for that price, you can get dual cameras, you can get super amoled displays lol

I bought one when this was announced, its barely an upgrade and looks like turd imo. Got a 32gb 3gb of ram for 150 cheaper than I could get this in the 16gb 2gb of ram version.

Great review. I subscribed about halfway through. Last week, I purchased a G 5 Plus with the 32 GB internal storage to reach .y Samsung Galaxy S5, and really like it.
I do have one question, though. It seems to use a lot of the 2 GB ram. Typically 1.5 to 1.6 of its 1.8 GB. I don't know if that's a problem, or if that's how they're supposed to run. Any light you can she'd on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
