HTC is like SEGA... They build beautiful hardware yet they manage to fuck it up year after year. I was loyal to HTC for years but the leadership is running this company into the ground, it's really sad...

Same here I had the wildfire the incredible s the desire x the one x and the m8 which in my opinion was the last phone that actually felt like a htc with its own style and character and not just some iphone rip off, thats why i went to samsung.

To sum this up: no headphone jack, no waterproofing, poor speakers, small fingerprint sensor, ridiculously small battery (the Xiaomi Mi Mix has 4400mAh battery), no IR, no dual camera, bi camera hump, $750.
At the same time LG managed to create a smaller, thinner phone with same size screen, dual camera, no camera bump, a headphone jack, bigger battery and wireless charging.
HTC is a joke right now.

Every once in a while I come back to watch this. How naive we were back then. We thought $750 was a lot for a phone and that this was a large camera bump. Seems phones are even more poor uses of space now than they were seven years ago.

I LOVE my HTC 10 especially because it seemed like HTC was getting back to their roots of making an extremely high-quality all-rounder, but the U Ultra was the biggest disappointment I've ever felt about any tech company. The U Ultra needs this bashing, so HTC knows what's up, and try harder for their next flagship.

I'd buy a Galaxy S7 Edge over this and that came out a year ago. In reality, people who work at ATT, Sprint, and Verizon just push whatever phone they want. The majority of people going in there don't know anything about phones and it's equivalent to selling used cars.
If HTC shows seller incentive people will push it. But it probably won't do well regardless. More and more companies are going with 2 year contract/upgrade plans though, so that 750 tag turns into ~25 bucks a month. Which really isn't that bad.

They were the ones who innovated Android phones as we know them today. the problem is, the common idiot either buys a Samsung or an apple and doesn't look anywhere in between. so, essentially HTC's sales went down because nobody noticed them anymore after the S3, and they have since had to greatly reduce their employees and now they have to price phones for the high just to stay afloat. and it's not going to work out well for them, and it's going to be very sad to watch what's coming to them because they were such a great company but the consumers have ruined them

This was a great breakdown of this phone. I love this channel and have been a fan for many years. I'm kinda disappointed in HTC though. They normally produce top notch phones but there are some positives to take from this phone. Hopefully the camera and the second display will be things that are included with more HTC phones. had problem with touch screen. had to replace one within a year and then it failed again before the next year. I owned HTC desire, HTC ONE X and M8 but that it. No more HTC. Poor quality control and customer service.

ahmdhziq my only problem with my M8 was how hot it got...that thing got so close to burning my hand after pretty light tasks (watching one 10 minute YT video for example). The phone was fantastic though, wish HTC had continued in such a fashion!
I still use M7 as my daily driver. Mostly because I can't buy a Google Pixel that easily in Denmark- But I agree, back then HTC actually managed to make good phones. RIP HTC :p
I changed my M8 for an HTC 10 and it is a great phone , But it seems HTC has lost it again , they could have done much better after htc 10 but for some unknown reason they messed it up AGAIN .

Dear MKBHD: Thankyou for being incredibly blunt and truthful about a phone. My biggest gripe with your reviews are that for Samsung and Apple you tend to love bragging about the super positive things, but are way too polite about the negatives and mostly always turn them into a "less positive". Whether thats out of fear that you wont get sent review units or higher priority, it doesnt matter, that isnt how you got where you are today. Please realize that we want to continue to see your courage and honesty, we dont want you to shy away from that based on some super awesome Samsung/Apple incentive. Stay true to what got you here mate. See you in the next one!

Excellent Review / Rant. HTC should have priced the phone at 500$, that's the perfect price for it.
naw the OnePlus 3T would still be a much better buy than this at that price point.
