Ole on the right wing for that one season, before his injury, was at least his equal. His crosses were more thoughtful, (as an ex centre forward he knew when and how to play a through ball) he was a bit quicker over 6 yards (Becks was never teh quickest) and had a killer shot when cutting in from the right ( rarely part of Becks game) Football is all about opinions, and if yours is different from mine , i respect that.( even I f I know I'm right 😁😁)

Scholes first touch was sublime when he received the ball he could control it perfectly and at the same time place it inch perfect to where his second touch if it was a passing kick could be executed perfectly and he knew where to put the first touch even before he received the ball that in my humble opinion made him one of the best midfielders in the history of the game….

Scholes the quiet man the media didn't pay much attention to thankfully. He made so many of Ferguson's teams tick. He could turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye with his quick precision passing. Most of the time not looking up as he'd already seen where players were before the ball arrived at his feet. Utd were not good up to Dyer goal and its like it awoke a beast that went on a rampage for 20 minutes. Its the only time I have ever seen the Newcastle fans silent and emotionless in the crowd and Sir Bobby Robson speechless after the game
I remember a couple of seasons earlier Newcastle won this fixture 5-0 ....... there were banners, T-shirts, mugs, T-towels and all sorts of commemorative tat. United won the League ........... in this game, a world class hat trick, fantastic play but none of the above, just another 3 points. And that was the difference in these days, you don't win titles with hysteria.
Weird that Forlan at Utd and Forlan at the clubs he played for later (Vilareal and Atletico Madrid) was night and day difference. Even at international tournaments he just looked a much more confident and deadly forward player compared to how he looked at Utd. I could never explain it
