Fafa. I live in the Caribbean. I have tried to cook AKARA before but, found it a lot of work re, 'cleaning' beans. You make it seem so simple. Will try, I'm sure, many times. Glad I came onto your site. Thanks, so much. Keep showing US in the diaspora how to cook our ANCESTORS' food. Again Thanks.
I love this lady đđđ watching from my recommended unooo

What a fantastic looking recipe! I am vegan and gluten free! So when I clicked on this video I was sure there must be wheat in it to get a food to be so deliciously golden brown and to my surprise this recipe is vegan and gluten free! I will definitely be making this! Thank you so much! I am excited to try it in different dipping sauces!
I just got a great idea to try this with chickpeas since I just bought 5 pounds and I would love to make a vegan tzatziki sauce to go with it!
Thank you for watching and commenting đđ

Amazing how in Africa we all kinda eat the same things. Names might be different but still the same recipe...
As a bambara we called that "tomousso"đ
+Siynata Poupée Welcome to my channel. There are similarities in most various African dishes.
Siynata Poupée I am Trinidadian and so many of the foods are the same, some has been modified over the years, but the recipes and intent are the same.
In Somalia its called Bajia.
Valerie Rawlins same. Iâm from NY with Panamanian and African American parents and both sides of my family cook the same foods in different ways and with different names. My hubby is from Trinidad and, as you said, same foods, different names. Itâs all to do with being of African descent and ancestry. I can actually trace my fatherâs ancestry back to Nigeria and my motherâs to Senegal. I love all my people of the African diaspora â€ïž

This is one of my best snack/food EVER!
I make akara all the time and I love that my kiddies have also embraced it. These days I fill up their hot dog buns with akara and they love it! They love trying out the type of food I ate growing back home in Nigeria.

Smashing!!!!....Damn!....Smells Good!....I Wish!...
Damn!!, we in Brazil have a snack called Acarajé, it is just like Akara....!
Diogo, I saw a documentary on Salvador da Bahia and foods in the province (Salvador) has a lot of West African influence. It was beautiful to see the West African influence on the culture.
@@TheFkadarkwa I'm here because of this documentary! :D
The best method I've found is to soak it in water for 8 mins and pulse it in a blender 3-4 times. It works so well!
Truelove Thank you for the tip đ

Great presentation. I am going to try this bean akara adding some dry salted codfish (which has to be soaked and desalted beforehand). In the Caribbean we don't do akra with beans. So this should be an interesting experiment for me. Thanks!
Iâm liking this inclusion of the salted codđđŸ

Good job.
+Boy Me Thank you đđ
Hi Fafa Gilbert...in Kenya we have bhajia with chickpea or green gram flour , spices, onions, coriander, salt, garlic optional and a pepper sauce along with tamarind sauce....đđ I will surely try akara style.âșïž
fafa, what blender do you use, please dont tell me vitamix
I love the colours and the use of simple ingredients, with no umami like âmaggiâ or crayfish Fafa. My only criticism is your batter which I find a bit dense indicated by the fact that it did not float. I have done some research on Akara and the best ones are light and fluffy which you get if you spend some time incorporating air in the mixture and then deep frying it. You missed this step ma which is best done with a whisk.
An updated recipe since đczcams.com/video/QnI9SdVF6-s/video.html
