Hurricane Hunters' Plane Flies Through Dorian

A hurricane hunter's airplane gave researchers an up-close view of a terrifying storm. The reconnaissance plane, a Lockheed WP-3D Orion nicknamed "Kermit the Frog," is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Staffed with researchers and crew with nerves of steel, Kermit powered through Hurricane Dorian. The Category 5 hurricane had winds of 185 miles per hour, with gusts approaching 220 miles per hour. #InsideEdition

i remember when they reported this as a tropical depression & said they will monitor it in case it morphs into a hurry cane.............................less than 48 hrs later BOOM baby!! Impressive to say the least that something can be awe inspiring & frightening at the same time. Can't fathom 185+ mph sustained wind for at least one hour.............the Bahama's will never be the same.

Dorian was truly a monster.. as we approach the two year anniversary, here on Abaco, we still aren’t recovered. It will be years before our island will be even close to what we were pre Dorian. That storm was more than what is described here.. it was tornadoes and 225 mph winds and what devastated us the most here in Marsh Harbour was the 30’ tidal wave. Dorian wasn’t just a storm. It was a living breathing monster.
