I’m a vintage reseller, I would rather see something painted and loved longer, than leave it natural wood and go in a landfill. It’s not really worth anything then, is it? You do beautiful work, and I personally love the “sagey green” it suited that piece perfectly.

Perfectly said. So many people seem to criticise furniture flippers for painting and paint washing furniture but you are so right, much better than landfill.

I would say it would depend on the piece of furniture. Normally I like natural wood but some of the pieces that you have painted are beautiful.

I think you gave that piece a new lease on life. The paint actually improved the quality of the piece. When someone takes a very good quality piece of wood furniture, in perfect condition, then paints it, now that bothers me. But I’ve never seen you do that. You always do a great job!

  • @laurelarmstrong4535

Really depends. I heard one interior designer interviewed on TV years ago say “just because it’s wood doesn’t mean it’s wood”. This is true. I love wood, but some pieces do not age well. Color is also beautiful.

I don't prefer to paint wood most times, but sometimes, it's necessary. Especially if it's not great quality wood due to the type of wood or the damage it's received. Better to paint than to destroy it

It always depends on the piece.
Sometimes the intricate details are best seen when it’s painted.
My favorite is painted on the bottom (depending), and natural or stained wood on top.
You get the best of both. 😊

I think that’s well done. Yes, there are “those women” that paint furniture that really don’t have an eye for furniture design, color, or future purpose of the piece.
This example, however, is a quality refresh of a dresser that would likely get chucked in a few years due to its condition. You saved it and made it whole again. You also made it lovely and modern while not taking away from its original aesthetic.

Lol I just got a couple of living room tables and was thinking about whether or not to do this. If it has damage, a heavy grain and they're wanting something more dressed up or it doesn't fit their cooler toned vision I can see why they would. I like the french country/cottage/girly girl airiness so I would do it for darker stuff.

I will be redoing two or three pieces of furniture then tackling all the kitchen cupboard doors and drawer fronts. I painted them using a small roller about 4 years ago but we want to change the colour and would love an easier solution. We have a lot of doors and drawers! Thank you in advance. Cheers 🇨🇦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
