- Painting OLD furniture is rarely as simple as just slapping on a coat of paint. This antique dresser had already been refinished multiple times in the past but was once again in need of a bunch of repairs and a new finish to get it back in action and keep it from being discarded.

So clever adding that trim! It's amazing how that and the beautiful color made it a completely different piece. Stunning!
Thank you so much!
@@salvagedbykscott I love this idea. I'm just really getting started with flipping furniture and this is something I would love to do.
I’m hoping to try this on an antique buffet from my grandparents - oak, but pretty plain. Any ideas?!

I am one of those in the camp of not painting old furniture but there are times that you have no choice. If the dents and dings cannot be sweated out or sanded, then you have no choice but to fill and paint. This piece turned out beautiful and definately ready to take on another 50 years plus.
“Holy cost of living crisis Batman” made me chuckle!! 😂
The only antique furniture that shouldn’t be painted is museum quality. That was just an old dresser, and it is beautiful now.
Beautiful work!! I love that you painted the back and visible parts underneath. Living in many small, quirky apartments, it is a good idea!! The backs of my furniture showed as I like angling my furniture.
It looks amazing. You did a great job at restoring it. That color couldn't be more perfect.
I agree with painting it, the wood needed to be filled and that would not have looked great with a stain. You gave it a new lease on life!
Nice to see that this is old pieces of furniture and you did not make the mistake to cover that up ! So many restorations are with all kind of tricks to mask the imperfections of old pieces and at the end you can see that not much is left of the original and that is to bad. And thinking that old or antique furniture cant be paint is a huge misunderstanding because in the old days painting was many times the idea that painted furniture a show how rich people could effort to buy painted and decorated furniture ! Love this piece very much and the color and the new draw decorations is fitting so well !!
thank you for saying up front that you were painting it. Saved me a lot of time.
I was one of those people who used to cringe when people would paint over wood furniture, but I must admit Katie, since watching you and how beautiful your pieces come out-fully restored and usable plus saved from the land fill---I do not feel that way any longer! This came out wonderful!!!
Now I feel bad for throwing out a beat up old wood dresser I once had cuz I thought it was beyond repair 😅 lol you brought this thing back to life!
Such an amazing change! Love it and the fact the piece was saved and not put in a landfill !
You took a sad and tired piece and gave it new life. It looks brand new. Yes to painting furniture !
Ive been watching for a while without subscribing. I described today because I always like your work, ideals, and attention to detail with a calm voice.
I love when you take old, damaged and lifeless furniture and bring it back to glory!
Every piece needs a second chance or more
7th year! Congrats, Katie! So happy to see you back. This little dresser got so much love from you and looks amazing now. Great job!
What an outstanding makeover!! Love to watch you transform pieces!! Thank you so much!!
Beautiful. 🎉 I love watching you restore and paint furniture. I agree, that bottom piece and the back needed painting to really finish everything off neatly. I looks beautifully styled. Well done. 🎉
I like the added trim not just for the aesthetic element but also because it serves the purpose of protecting the original carving if someone else wants to restore/recreate it later on the existing wood. You've given this piece a new lease on life!
I love how much work you put into your refinishing. Love this little dresser makeover!
Loved this! I think this is one of my favorite makeovers you’ve done. I love antiques and appreciate how you stayed true to the style and nature of this piece. Brava!
So glad you’re back! You were missed. Beautiful job.
Had to be painted, looks beautiful as usual.
Great before and after. When you said “dang it” while trying to remove the nail made me laugh. I felt your pain. ❤
Wow! Beautiful! Those little keyhole inserts really provided that last little detail of beauty!
Love the repair & color. Beautiful! 🩵
How amazing! Its gorgeous now; love that color! My hat is off to you for having the courage and creativity to give this little chest a second life.
Beautiful! What a wonderful job on something that most people would have pitched. I love the color choice.
Great job reviving this piece ❤😊
I agree that sometimes . . . It is better to paint a piece in tasteful colors. I love that shade of green.
Adding the trim is a nice modern accent to this.😊❤❤
Well done! The green is beautiful! I love painted furniture when it is done correctly 😃
This is Beuutuful! In Chicago we call that color Chicago grey, as if we invented it. Depending on the lighting, it leans green grey or blue. Like a chameleon. 🦎
Great result. I love that the vase on top matches the color of the dresser.
I love to watch you ! You’re such a great teacher ,And you are very neat and go extra miles to keep your pieces as beautiful as possible! What a professional ! I wish we were neighbors, but I’m down here in North Carolina and learning with your videos, thank you so much!
This piece turned out absolutely gorgeous. The decorative trim added a beautiful touch. Awesome job saving this old piece 💚💚
Katie, been a subscriber to your channel for about a year now….I absolutely love how you breathe new life back into furniture pieces when you think there’s no hope left for them. I’m learning so much from your channel, hope to do this as a hobby once I retire. You’re an inspiration to furniture lovers everywhere.
Haha my 18 month old Golden retriever ran up to the tv when you showed Tater on Chris knee....he nosed the tv, wanting to love him. He is sweet❤😊
Fantastic job bringing that old girl back to life😊
I was originally disappointed that the original carved detail couldn’t be maintained, but it came out beautifully. Gorgeous color and really complimented with the hardware color! And thank you for including the details regarding exactly how you use the spray gun.
I think it would've been fun to try "re-carving" the original design on the drawer fronts - just take a woodcarving knife and sort of trace the existing lines, see if you could get the depth it was supposed to have back again. If it didn't come out well you could still cover it up with new trim like you did. Not trying to be hateful, I think the final result was pretty, just offering an idea :)
Thanks for saving that solid wood chest of drawers, Katie. I think you did right by it. The new color is beautiful.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! so great, awesome color, really good job.
Looks so much better now! Great job as usual 😊
Would you please do a video on all of the safety stuff you use? I am thinking of doing this as a side hustle and I am also a nurse, so I would like to protect my lungs and skin from dust and chemicals. Thanks! (You rock! Your videos are so chocked full of great info and lovely staging. Thanks for giving back to your community too!)
Such a labor of love! I knew you would paint the back😇
Thanks Katie
The dresser looks so beautiful!I love the color! 💯❣️
Beautiful transformation as always. Love it when you save a piece from the wood pile
What a beautiful redo on this piece!
Oh my wow!! This has got to be one of my new favourites of yours. It’s just, perfection. Every choice. Ah-mazing work on this piece, Katie!
You did a beautiful job. I love your philosophy re old furniture. Personally, I would have spent the extra $20 on the more ornate trim, but what you ended up with is so lovely!
I thought this looks fantastic with the new paint !
It is absolutely beautiful. Love your makeovers of giving furniture a new life.
Katie since you got back from Waco Texas your channel has taken on a new personality. It is so refreshing to see you so animated. Thank you. 👏🏆🥰
What a transformation! Beautiful with character. Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous job, really great looking outcome. The keyhole inserts , the added drawer trim and paint colour really brought this piece back to life.
Absolutely loved this, you put so much work into it and the finished drawer unit is really lovely.
Oh so beautiful...I had my doubts at first. You put your heart and soul into this one.
Another lovely old solid piece given a new look and new life ❤
WOW !! What an improvement, turned out beautiful. Green is my favorite color..Love it ❤
Nicely done. Love the color. I've never thought of flipping a top over. Smart move.
Came out wonderful! Trim was a great choice and the color just fits it!
Lovely upgrade. New trim piece looks like it was meant to be on the drawers. Color is perfect
Katie, you completely revived this dresser! I love what you did! It's beautiful!
I didn't like the color when it was going on, but the finished product is so elegant! I can't imagine it any other color. Love it! And how you styled it, even more!
Incredible! So charming and elegant - you gave it new life!
Times change, styles change as well. You wouldn't wear clothes from the 50s today, That beautiful paint job gave this piece a new updated wardrobe. Great job!
This is just so lovely! You worked so hard. Well done!
I'm amazed how much time and effort you put into this rickety piece of furniture to bring it back to some former glory and you did an excellent job of it! I admire the integrity of your work in that you didn't cut any corners or use inferior products; I would not hesitate to buy a refinished piece from you! And you are correct in that these lovely 'old' pieces of furniture will last another lifetime if we could just avoid throwing them into the landfill and purchasing plastic stuff from Walmart and Ikea! Anyway, well done, Katie - I'm going to sub for more of your projects.
So grateful you posted this ~ such a magnificently sweet piece created by a very sweet girl ~ you really are such a good person and I thank you for sharing ~ I learned a ton !!!
I have a wobbly dresser and have not been able to find a guide to tighten the joints. Thank you for sharing that bit of your restoration! This dresser turned out beautifully! Thank you for sharing all your hard work. You are inspiring!
This is one of my favourite products you’ve done! It’s stunning.
It is. Now so beautiful. It went from something trashed and useless to a beautiful dresser with many years of life left. Great
I love it! So beautiful!
Beautiful grain in wood would rather see imperfections than see one another piece of painted furniture.
Hi Katie! Love the color and trim added. So clever to flip over the top! She's beautiful again.
She's beautiful!!! 😍
Turned out beautiful. Love the color
Beautiful piece.... you saved another one!
Am I the only one who is addicted to watching your furniture make overs!
So glad you are back with a furniture video. Good start to 2024. Love the colour of this piece. 😊
Lovely refresh for this old piece, and still has plenty of character!
It’s fabulous! That color suits that piece to a T.

A true labor of love. 😊
So cute! I wish you could have saved the carved detail but it really was worn down. The finished piece is super cute and it will look beautiful in its new home.
Beautiful work! I’m picking up some tips as I’ve only done one dresser. Your videos are so relaxing to watch. Thank you.
Very cute!! I love the colors that you chose! What a beautiful combination!! I think you just helped me make up my mind about the paint and hardware for my kitchen cabinets!! And those sweet little chests of drawers are so versatile. You can use them in any room for a little extra storage 😊
Gorgeous! This has inspired me to add trim to a vintage dresser I just picked up today off Facebook marketplace! Well done 👏🏻
Beautiful, Katie. Love the trim & that Fusion colour is gorgeous.❤
Every piece you redo looks so good.
So great watching these transformations!
I love the trim you added and the color, just gorgeous!
I normally prefer keeping pieces unpainted in their natural state but this was a beautiful improvement
