Ugh! That's when you want to walk out of the room and shut the door till your disappointed disappears. Thank god for your Plan B. It may not be want you originally wanted, but you nailed the save! Well done!
This is a great problem solving video. I can relate to projects that are 90% “problems”. This was reassuring to me and so informative. Your creative process is so inspirational. Thanks.
All emotions of frustration aside, I think she's lovely and anyone would be happy to have this beautiful piece!! You did a great job and it's lucky you have the skill and experience you have or this could have turned out badly. Love watching your videos!
It’s reassuring to see someone of your caliber struggling...I certainly hated the situation you were in, but I loved hearing your thought processes...I think we all can relate to biting off more than we can chew 😂 I love what you did with it...and that color is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing...just beautiful 🥰
Wow, what an amazing transformation! All those chips and divots, and it looks so smooth and sophisticated now. Even though your original plan for this piece was not feasible ( my heart sank for you) it turned out absolutely amazing. 💖💖💖
I love Katie's professional determination. Ar the point of realising it wasn't working, I would have put it in the shed for 1 and a half years of regret and procrastination before deciding to paint it 😅
I'm not a person who is into painting antiques, but sometimes it is the only solution, and I loved the color you used. The end result is lovely. And as you said , it will now have a chance at one more life. I don't like to see furniture painted with a brush. It looks so much better sprayed.
Even though it's not what you wanted, it still turned out stunning! You persevered and made lemonade out of lemons ❤️ P.S. I love how you styles it up!
Beautiful pivot, Katie! She looks lovely and the hardware is the perfect touch. Sometimes the furniture really does have its own ideas about what should be done. That color is gorgeous and I hope you get many years of enjoyment from her. I would consider this one a big success!🌸
That middle section - where you’re debating the options - made me smile and feel less alone with the internal debates I experience on the regular 😂. It might not have gone to plan, but she turned out gorgeous 👏👏👏
Each piece of furniture is a surprise and a challenge. The good thing about your videos is that you always find a good solution that is also beautiful and with which we learn a lot. A lot!!
This may not have turned out how you originally wanted but wow. I absolutely love this piece. Hearing you work through your process shows the thought as well as the effort you put into this piece. So we’ll done!
Katie I was so sad for you that you didn't get to have your vision but your perseverance is to be commended. It turned out beautifully. Definitely turned lemons into lemonade. Great job.
Your little trouble maker turned out beautifully! Loved that you shared your thought process as you decided what you were ultimately going to do with the piece.
Pragmatic choices are sometimes best, and you're great at them too. Impressive that you marched right through the disappointment and created a pretty piece. Thanks Katie.
Well... even though it didn't turn out as you planned, it still turned out beautifully! She got a lot of love to try and restore her to her previous glory, but in the end I think you did what you had to. This piece will go on to grace someone's home with its beauty for years to come! Well done!
You know, maybe she didn't turn out the way you wanted her to, but I think she turned out the way SHE wanted to turn out. She's just gorgeous! I know this video was from a long time ago, and I hope she found a new home where she shines. You did a beautiful job of refinishing her!
The end result is gorgeous Katie, just love it. Really appreciated you talking us through your process, disappointments and all. Every now and then those projects appear no matter how the pieces are scrutinised initially and true to your integrity it turned out beautifully! Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Your furry friend is so precious. I absolutely love the finished product. Even though it didn't go as planned, it ended up beautiful. Well done! I got a piece that's "jewelry" was way too shiny for me and soaking it in Coca Cola gave it the aged patina I was looking for. I always love your videos.
The way you were able to troubleshoot this and pivot makes me admire you even more. A good reminder that something beautiful can always come out from a nightmare.
I haven't even watched the video yet, but I just want to say that the model you chose to show off the mattress is beautiful. The poses are perfection, and what soulful and gorgeous eyes! I'm thinking the next supermodel for sure.
From your neighbor over in Quebec.. I love it when projects don't turn out the way I want them lol. But at least you do what we're called to do and that is to save them from the dump, right?.... Good worker on it Katie. And thanks for pointing out the hardware spot
Katie, you did a wonderful job. I could feel your frustration and dilemma with this piece of furniture. It's disappointing when things don't work out the way you planned. But, you made the right decisions on how to solve the problems. Excellent. The piece looks beautiful!
I am yelling into the computer, "FILL THE HOLES, SAND IT DOWN AND PAINT THE WHOLE THING". i am half way through the video so will have to see what you do. Ya listened to me..lol an old 77 yr old woman. I had this exact serpentine chest 25 years ago that I stripped and re stained in a light stain. The veneer was all in good shape and I didn't have to go through all the heart aches you did. An excellent result with yours, love it. (Ontario here)
Oh girl…..I’m obsessed! I’ve never cared for these type pieces before but you magically transformed it to an elegant statement piece! It’s giving me French country vibes. I want it! ❤️🥰❤️
Katie, you are very good at what you do although sometimes you feel and you tell all of us is more than you bargained for. It’s the challenges that’s in life that you conquer and you conquer each piece of furniture that you put in your hands to reclaim, you do excellent work.
You actually DIDN'T bite off more than you can chew...just more than you EXPECTED to have to chew. This turned out stunningly pretty - and here's hoping you find the perfect piece for your nightstand!
I agree with you on this one. I firmly believe you only paint when it’s absolutely necessary. In this case it was absolutely necessary. And it looks great. The only thing I may have done different, is if I had some veneer that would fit the top, glue it on and have a nice looking wood top.
Thanks for letting us see all the pivots and the processing. That was so helpful and certainly reassuring for the rest of us who hit snags in our projects. End result was gorgeous and rescued this piece from ending up in the trash. So worth the effort!
Sometimes the piece needs to be what it needs to be. Sadly, what it needs to be isn't what you envisioned, but it looks beautiful. A hard won battle. ♥️
Katie, it turned out beautiful! Great job following through with this piece. As you know, sometimes pieces tell us what they want to be instead of how we envision them. You had a lot of great ideas and tricks that I learned a lot from. Thank you for a great video!
Hi Katie, I could feel your disappointment. I love the style of the drawers. Im sure you will find something special for your nightstand. You made the dresser look beautiful nevertheless with beautiful hardware. Lovely colour too. Thanks for sharing. Gale x
I think it turned out fantastic given all the hurdles you encountered! The fact that it didn't end up a keeper (just wasn't meant to be) for you just means there is something better out there for you to discover!
Ok, so I know I'm a year late to this comment section 😅, but I just wanted to say that I love how you post the good, the bad and the ugly. It truly is a learning experience for those of us who are beginning in restoration and it's also interesting to watch you troubleshoot to find a solution. I like that you don't try to always post things like you always have it all together lol! It's real, it's vulnerable and relatable! That's why I love your channel. Thanks for the great work you do and present...and by the way...the piece turned out beautifully with the life you gave it. 🥰
It turned out amazing. Most of us wish our Best pieces turned out so well. I think it is adorable. You really pulled this dumpster diver into a Beauty. I am always amazed at your patience.
Thank you for showing how to determine when to go in another direction. I am working with a project that is not working. When I got into it there were multiple issues. Now I feel I can drop my original plan an think of another. Your new plan worked beautifully. It looks so good.
You should show a hint of your “after” shots in your thumbnail because I didn’t click on this for a few days thinking it wouldn’t show a completed product and certainly not one so stunning. More people need to see your work! This turned out beautifully!!
The piece turned out beautifully. I love your problem solving approach to address the multitude of issues with this mirrored dresser. I can definitely relate to thinking the piece would be moving in one direction and ending up going in another direction. So inspirational!
I admire your determination to make this problem something really nice..you did just that! I probably would of rolled it to the curb with a free sign! Great job.😊
Our house is also a Birch mattress home - I love that they are your sponsor! I also recommend the mattress topper, which was perfect for my daughter. Much love ❤️
Wow what an enormous amount of work you put in to try and salvage this dear little Chest of Drawers... in the end, the colour you used, looks fabulous along with the hardware. ✨️✨️✨️👏
I love watching your channel and your work is amazing! You are so humble and transparent about the struggles of enhancing and beautifying old furniture and such an encouragement to many of us! Thank you!
It’s disappointing that it didn’t turn out how you planned, but with all said and done, it still looks really beautiful and will suit someone’s style perfectly! It’s 1000% better than the condition it came in as, so I’d say that’s a success!
Love what you did. When you said "veneer" it reminded me of an old Frasier episode where they were watching the Antiques Road Show and they took a drink every time the appraiser said "veneer".🤣
Hi Katie …. I really like your really sensitive individual on the bed … he looks super comfortable!! ❤ To hear you problem solve was also really useful for we would be first attempters, so thanks! Turned out really nice!!😅
Hi Katie!! Oh sister I have to tell you I absolutely love this piece painted 😬 sorry it didn’t work out for you to get it back to it’s old self though. You’ve got it where it counts to work out hard problems! Good job and God Bless ❤️
Ohhhhhh. I FELT this video in my bones. Hahaha I’ve had so many “quick flips” that ended up just having one thing after another go wrong. So I feel your pain. You made the best of a rough situation. I absolutely applaud the effort of trying to save the wood but sometimes it’s just a no go. Awesome job, great video! ❤

Sometimes things just don't work out, and furniture has a mind of its own. BUT the finished piece is beautiful! Excellent job Katie!
Just what I was going to say. I think this piece wanted to be “prettied up”. Love the color.
I love Katie's professional determination. Ar the point of realising it wasn't working, I would have put it in the shed for 1 and a half years of regret and procrastination before deciding to paint it 😅
Same. If that would have been a free piece it would have quickly become firewood.
I'm not a person who is into painting antiques, but sometimes it is the only solution, and I loved the color you used. The end result is lovely. And as you said , it will now have a chance at one more life. I don't like to see furniture painted with a brush. It looks so much better sprayed.

So nice of you to get your dog a new mattress!
Too bad you couldn't get what you planned, but the result is really very nice! I love the color!

Katie's "plan B" is better than my A game! This came out amazing! I think it is going to have a great next life.
There is nothing wrong with giving up and getting the paint out. This piece looks awesome. 👍💜😊🇨🇦
I love projects like this believe it or not 😂 making the ugly beautiful again! Gorgeously done Katie❤
Well... even though it didn't turn out as you planned, it still turned out beautifully! She got a lot of love to try and restore her to her previous glory, but in the end I think you did what you had to. This piece will go on to grace someone's home with its beauty for years to come! Well done!
It is a miracle. You literally ressusicated this piece.
Oh, Katie! The end result is stunning. Love, love, love the color of the piece and the hardware. Thank you! 🙏🏻
I kept saying, gotta paint her to myself! Ugh! But she’s GORGEOUS and you triumphed once again! Bravo! ❤
You know, maybe she didn't turn out the way you wanted her to, but I think she turned out the way SHE wanted to turn out. She's just gorgeous! I know this video was from a long time ago, and I hope she found a new home where she shines. You did a beautiful job of refinishing her!

It’s so beautiful!!!! You have exquisite taste. That colour is perfect and you worked so hard on it. You should be incredibly proud.
The way you were able to troubleshoot this and pivot makes me admire you even more. A good reminder that something beautiful can always come out from a nightmare.

This is beautiful! I’m just curious why you didn’t do your wood look finish on this piece. I think it would’ve looked amazing.
Well, that was certainly a great example of what’s known as “making lemonade” when you get lemons!!! A really lovely piece of furniture in the end.
I agree with you on this one. I firmly believe you only paint when it’s absolutely necessary. In this case it was absolutely necessary. And it looks great. The only thing I may have done different, is if I had some veneer that would fit the top, glue it on and have a nice looking wood top.

Whoa! You are determined and brave! So much to be learned from this project, thank you. Looking at the final product no one would know.
That was a true rescue. Despite all the problems it came out well, even though it was totally not your original plan.
I applaud your efforts to save the wood finish. I think it turned out to be very nice after all that trouble.
Sometimes the piece needs to be what it needs to be. Sadly, what it needs to be isn't what you envisioned, but it looks beautiful. A hard won battle. ♥️

It was very refreshing to see a realistic makeover. Not all makeovers are smooth sailing. 👍
Hi Katie, I could feel your disappointment. I love the style of the drawers. Im sure you will find something special for your nightstand. You made the dresser look beautiful nevertheless with beautiful hardware. Lovely colour too. Thanks for sharing. Gale x

I know this didn't work out the way that you'd hoped, but it sure turned out beautifully! I love how you persevered! And I just love your channel 🙂
Another successful turnaround. Even though not your original intent, the results are striking. Thanks for hanging in there.
It looks stunning. All that prep made it a superior paint result.
That’s stunningly subtle🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
My husband and I think you are very talented! We are very picky like you and that's ome of the reasons we love your rennovations🥰
It turned out amazing. Most of us wish our Best pieces turned out so well. I think it is adorable. You really pulled this dumpster diver into a Beauty. I am always amazed at your patience.
Even with all of its faults, it turned out really well. I love it with all its character & charm.
I am so thankful I discovered you last week! I love your work, style and advice that helps us newbies
Nobody could say you didn't try, but in the end, she is still a beauty! A lot of hard, frustrating work, but great job in the end!
This piece had plans of its own. That stinker turned into such a handsome piece. The color is perfection. Glad you pulled it off.......
Thank you for showing how to determine when to go in another direction. I am working with a project that is not working. When I got into it there were multiple issues. Now I feel I can drop my original plan an think of another. Your new plan worked beautifully. It looks so good.
Thank you for sharing the frustrating parts of restoration. Your work is ultimately beautiful!
I think this night stand turned out absolutely beautiful!!! The hardware is so beautiful!! ❤
You should show a hint of your “after” shots in your thumbnail because I didn’t click on this for a few days thinking it wouldn’t show a completed product and certainly not one so stunning. More people need to see your work! This turned out beautifully!!
You saved the day! This piece turned out beautifully Katie, great job!
Didn’t doubt you for a minute. I knew you had it from the get. Awesome!
I know it wasn’t quite what you had planned. But what a beautiful saved.
The piece turned out beautifully. I love your problem solving approach to address the multitude of issues with this mirrored dresser. I can definitely relate to thinking the piece would be moving in one direction and ending up going in another direction. So inspirational!
Really nice result given the initial cost as well as the 'expense' of your time, labor and frustrations.
Gorgeous, old-style elegance with a chic, contemporary update. Truly lovely---oh, and it's my favorite color. Nice, nice save.
You managed to give life back to this Bondo Queen!
You made the right decision. It turned out beautifully.
I admire your determination to make this problem something really nice..you did just that! I probably would of rolled it to the curb with a free sign! Great job.😊
Wow 🤩 it really turned out stunning.
I think your backup plan came out beautifully. The colour and the bling bling are gorgeous (although straight hardwood would have been amazing too).
Katie, final video of my little Sat. afternoon binge. Way to see this through & not give up!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Our house is also a Birch mattress home - I love that they are your sponsor! I also recommend the mattress topper, which was perfect for my daughter. Much love ❤️

The paint color and new hardware are a great combination.
Katie! You did a beautiful job on that dresser! As you always do! It didn’t solve your issue for a night stand, but you can make money if you sell it!
It’s disappointing that it didn’t turn out how you planned, but with all said and done, it still looks really beautiful and will suit someone’s style perfectly! It’s 1000% better than the condition it came in as, so I’d say that’s a success!
Kudos to you for fighting thru all the obstacles. Not what you wanted but it has great lines and the color is great
She turned out beautifully
Awe…her transformation turned out beautiful❤❤❤
I think it looks great…..love the color and the hardware is perfect…..great job……..sorry you had such a headache piece……looks great!!
To hear you problem solve was also really useful for we would be first attempters, so thanks! Turned out really nice!!😅
Phew! I’m exhausted just watching this! But wow, she turned out fabulous, love the color!
Excellent. It turned out better than I expected. I love it.
The dresser looks great! Oh, and puppy should be a model. So cute!!!
I know this was your original vision but she is lovely! Your puppy is a great advertisement for Birch. He looks so comfortable.
It's beautiful.......the color is lovely. Sometimes paint is just the perfect way to go.
Your patience and perseverance is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your journey. Great job 👏 😍
Hi Katie!!
Oh sister I have to tell you I absolutely love this piece painted 😬
sorry it didn’t work out for you to get it back to it’s old self though.
You’ve got it where it counts to work out hard problems!
Good job and God Bless ❤️
It looks nice. You did a great job in spite of having to let go of your vision for it!
Ohhhhhh. I FELT this video in my bones. Hahaha I’ve had so many “quick flips” that ended up just having one thing after another go wrong. So I feel your pain. You made the best of a rough situation.
