I've been a Land Rover fanatic for many years and have owned and still own a number of Land Rovers (four currently registered and on the road...I tend to just keep them forever). My Land Rovers are all Series or Defenders. I am currently looking at the possibility of purchasing a new Defender, but I'm not completely sold on them. I just want a basic, utilitarian vehicle that keeps it as simple as possible with longevity. I had thought that Land Rover had no option in this day and age but to leave the classic Series/Defender shape behind, but the Ineos Grenadier appears to have managed to create the vehicle that I wish Land Rover had evolved the Defender into. I'm quite conflicted with which way I'm going to go! I'll be very interested to see what their pricing and availability is in Australia. Phil - Queensland, Australia.

Sadly Land Rover created a new 'plastic' Defender, OK for the school run or the tranquil green lanes of England, but it's very debatable if it will ever be successful in the 'real' 4x4 market because of its design and huge dependency on electronics. The Grenadier seems to be something very different and looks like it will be properly 'ruggedised' to take the punishment of offroading /overlanding in some pretty remote and multi-terrain parts of the world. I certainly know what I will be spending my money on.

It is a good engine choice, people say that the N55 is the new 2JZ and B58 is the new generation of the N55. They are pretty reliable if you take care of them and follow the manufacturer servicing. BMW diesels in general are as reliable as every other diesel on the market at the moment, nothing special I think.

You have not tried to reinvent the wheel but make the wheel better by keeping it modernly simple and very adaptable. Sign me up for a test drive and review. I might also mention that I have driven all round the world in landrovers and sat my driving test in a landrover 40 years ago. I have owned and driven all models of landrovers since. Your concept and vision is what the market really needs. 👍

I really appreciate some of the car manufacturers who makes these basic, straightforward, and boxy suvs that are meant to go off of pavement in this age of car "electrification". Because there are a lot of people in this market that many car companies just gloss over. Not everyone can afford or even want a self driving car that can only be fixed at the dealership mechanic shops.
