    These two dirt bikes are very different in almost every way possible.
    The KTM 250SX-F is a Factory Edition 4 Stroke Motocross Bike. This dirt bike comes stock with Factory KTM upgrades and is the lightest 4 stroke in KTM's MX lineup. The only additional parts added to this KTM 250 is an FMF Exhaust.
    The Sur-Ron X is an electric dirt bike, otherwise known as the LightBee X. The Sur-Ron is an ultra light Chinese moto that combines features of a full size motocross bike and a mountain bike to make a dirt bike that rides in a category of it's own.
    To make this test fair, Tucker used a LITPro GPS Tracking device on his helmet to record his lap times. To learn more about LITPro, check out their website: www.litprolive.com/

      Yeah that's what I thought. That it even came close it's pretty awesome and considering the rough and bumpy state of the track and how sandy it was the motorbikes extra weight was obviously helping. Around a more solid track the results may of even been closer. The E- bikes were keeping up with the petrol bikes in the red bull rhythm race I saw too.

I ride enduro/ trails in Australia on a ktm 350 exc-f and I can get 180kmh out of a tank depending on terrain. Maybe a bit more info on the overall package not just how quick or how they handle. Good for track days but not so good for riding long distances through forests

Watch either of my race videos with the Sur-Ron and the Alta and you'll see that I show both bikes going into limp mode and ultimately dying before the finish line. I also do a video with the KTM Freeride E-XC where I run the battery to limp mode and report on the time and distance.

So there are trade offs. That said, there is a great opportunity to press ahead will non-fossiled dirt riding since that is always better for the environment and helps each of us to know we are doing our part and at the same time not compromising fun factor.

    1. What is the range of the Sur Ron Emoto on this 1 mile track on a single charge?
    2. Similarly, I wonder how many laps the Emoto could get before expired?
    I would have liked to have seen the lap times for the KTM 500 versus the Emoto. I've seen your video where both of these bikes are riding around together, but in the context of the lap time oh, it would be much more interesting. I have a KTM 500 and also I have the Hi-power Cycles typhoon with 6 kilowatts. In hindsight, I always wish I had been able to get the Sur Ron instead of the Typhoon, but it wasn't available yet.

      The Sur ron front suspension is about as dumbed down as you can get! Seriously a USD fork for under $200 = Pony. If Fox made a USD it would be more like $1500 although at least it would be good. The KTM is riding on Factory MX suspension which is light years ahead, literally light years, so yes 100% agree, some work to be done for sure. Would love to see how a Factroy tricked out Sur Ron would compare. Less than 15 seconds me thinks, but super impressive nonetheless.

    I have 4 surrons and two RevX bikes in my garage and the surrons are a blast and can be a ton of fun. The RevX bikes are more purpose driven and cannot be compared to the surrons as they are in a different league all together and would give this video a completely different outcome. The torque on the electric bikes is what allows them to cover ground much better than any gas bike. No shifting or trying to anticipate corners or late or early braking. The tires and suspension change ebikes to instantly be a real player and handle any terrain. The RevX comes fully outfitted to be race ready from the ground up so when it cost double the surron you are getting the best bang for your buck. Just wanted to share as I have been riding the last 40yrs and always get the latest and greatest bikes. Once the ebike market goes mainstream the gas bike market will never be the same. The only benefit gas has to me is the range and down time is less. Unless you have spare batteries to just swap out when one is done. I love gas and electric and enjoy the evolution of both platforms.

    Kind of surprised that it was even that close, nice job! Thinking that the KTM MX suspension could use some adjusting (less compression), does the Sur-Ron have suspension clickers? (just wondering).

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  Před 4 lety

      @suzuki06g Thanks! The fork I have on the Sur-Ron is an air fork, so you can add/subtract psi equivalent to spring rates. From there, you can slightly adjust compression and rebound via clickers. The rear is a coil shock with compression and rebound adjustments. The issue is that it's utilizing mountain bike suspension on a 120 pound bike and the bike is being ridden in a manner that the suspension was not designed for. I've done a lot of suspension adjustments on the Sur-Ron and have gotten it to ride better but still could use attention. As for the KTM, yea I agree it could use some adjusting but the whoops on these trails are stacked up. If I lower the compression too much, the bike starts to blow through the stroke and get sketchy in the whoops.

    • @ElectricCycleRider
      @ElectricCycleRider  Před 4 lety +1

      @B S The whoops are so stacked on this loop that the camera doesn't even do it justice. I went softer on the compression but it causes the bike to blow through the stroke and get sketchy in the whoops. Keeping it a little stiffer keeps the bike from dancing around. You're right though, suspension tune would benefit both bikes. Thanks for the note.
