Same with the DS and 3DS cartridges, I can see them doing this exact same edge.
Spot on!
Maybe they'll also be a white color instead of black so that you can tell them apart aside from the little edge.
I'm curious if you could remove that edge and the game would play on the older system? Something I was always just curious about
@@asherleviwoods6051It just doesn't work

This is interesting for 2 facts:
- It mentions the magnets on the joycons
- The additional button and the bigger size of the joycon could mean that they could look more like vr hands rather than mini-wiimotes
This …. Plus a perfect mouse gyro we need a true successor to Wii remote chuck in a VR nunchuck shape and a perfect Wii mote style mouse input joycons failed at this and I fully expect this to be addressed I want dual hand perfect 3d mouse controls for fps 3rd person shooters Fortnite etc
Or it could just prove that those joy-cons were way too small for a decent game pad...
Nobody in 2 players-mode except children maybe played that way, with those tiny ridiculous things...
When you think that just because of that 2 players configuration, we never had a d-pad on the left Joy-con...
Which was there since Game&Watch 😔
@@jedoled yes agreed also the actual poi t of the joycons was lost removing them and playing with one in each hand as 3d motion mouse stick buton core controllers , that was the entire point of them to replace the wii remote and chuck as a next gen 3d motion plus core controller they were to small fiddly Nd tne gyro set up not fully fleshed out a wasted 7 yrs
Backwards compatability is basically a guarantee. Every single Nintendo handheld after the Game Boy has had backwards compatability included. And no, the Virtual Boy doesn't count.
switch didnt
Exactly
@@MrValorthat’s cause the system is apparently very different
But that's because Switch couldn't have backwards compatibility with 3DS or Wii U since it is a very different system. Switch 2 apparently will be very similar to Switch 1.
@@kevinkite3418 Exactly.
I have over 120 physical titles for the Switch. Thank god there’s good news on backwards compatible.
I got 316 😬
Fuck yeah. Physical obsession increases with every rumor.
We technically already knew it would be every console has been back words compatible except for the Wii U because the switch doesn’t take disk
@@hoppie4263 couldn’t play NES on SNES. SNES on N64. N64 on GC.

Remember that loading screen where Pikmin transfers all your data from Wii to Wii U? That'd be great to have again
Hard agree. Was just playing Pikmin earlier too!
Pikmins were also present while tranfering Wii U to Wii U save data. Just like on 3ds. You could watch Pikmins travelling with your puzzle data from one Gamepad to the other.
@@jedoled if you transfer save data from a Wii U to another Wii U you get generic robots instead of Pikmin.

I'm actually really excited for a official release!
I hope we're getting close to an official announcement.
Probably, since these rumors are blowing up (and they seem real)
Pyoro is backing this rumor in particular, safe to say we're getting close
@@SilvieSteam Interesting, since pyoro knows info about it, it may be announced soon. Perhaps in June, I'm guessing.

Backwards compatibility and a soft reset button are the functions I'm wanting the most!
I’d like if the new joy cons didn’t have drift.
Great! Full backwards compatibility!
i hope my save data will carry over.
Probably
I'm sure it will :)
@@GameXplain thsnks
I would imagine they'd let you transfer your data the same way the current Switch's data backup system works.
I am actually looking forward to starting some games over on better hardware like TOTK and Super Mario Bros Wonder
I don't really care about 4K right now, but it'll become a much bigger issue if they're still not supporting it by the end of the console's lifecycle. No HDMI on the Wii was a huge deterrent in the 2010s, and a real sticking point against Xenoblade Chronicles and Skyward Sword upon release.
I'm just wondering if they will allow to access your original switch digital library on the successor....
Nintendo said before that going forward they want to be able to make it easy for everyone to bring their Nintendo account forward.
Yes! Well so far for sure the digital games you already own. So I'm assuming they will still allow you to purchase Switch digital games from the Switch 2 online store. Kinda like they did with the DS games on 3DS.
Inb4 you have to buy them again
@@knuclear200xi just really need to only bug physical going forward. for a while digital seemed like the future…
I want to see a camera and a mic added to the Switch 2. The last gaming console Nintendo made that has a camera and a mic was the Wii U.
I'd rather have a camera accessory like the gameboy camera or psp camera.
That might be what the extra button is ;)
Camera can also enhance mouse input
Tomodachi life then?
Camera would most likely be used for scanning QR Codes.
“I find this incredibly credible”. My favourite quote from this video.
i always thought switch games looked like they was designed with 4k resolution in mind
Thank you for telling the diffrences in the description with timestamps!
I’ll believe it all when I see it officially announced.
Everyone talking about Switch 2 backwards compatabilty with Switch games both Physically & Digitally, but no one talks if we can then transfer saves especially Pokémon saves if we move with our Switch games to Switch. Because I'm Switch V1 owner that I bought from person at 2018 end of March and he bought that Switch from shop June 11th 2017. So for me I be straight upgrading to Switch 2 from Switch V1, so I wanna continue my games not make new saves for them on Switch 2, so I hope we can transfer saves as well to Switch 2 from Switch!
You can move saves from Switch to Switch and the Wii U had a move mode to move stuff from a Wii. The fact you can move saves and profiles from a Switch to a new Switch seems very likely save date transfer would be possible.
Nintendo has never once prevented saves from being transferred on a backwards compatible device. This is a weird fear to have.
I’d assume if the controllers each have an extra button on the back, the new button on the front will be for mapping any button to those. Like maybe hold the new function button and then press A and a rear button at the same time to make that back button function as A, for instance.
Also with the backwards compatibility this further shows that Nintendo wants all 4 Primes playable on both Switch and Switch 2. So no need for a Switch 2 version of Prime 4, you can play all 4 Primes on both. (Yes I'm saying we will still get Prime 2 and 3 remastered before Prime 4 comes out)
Since prime 4 is probably not coming out for another 3 years I don’t think it’s coming to normal switch
I hope the new backside button has a high resistance and works as an analogue trigger, with exact resistance controllable through software, similar to the dualsense haptic triggers.
If the joycons are electro-magnetic, does that mean if it powers off, the joycons will just fall off?
For the backwards compatibility of the Switch 1 games on this upcoming Switch 2 or whatever it’s going to be called, I just really hope that when you put in your Switch 1 games into the Switch 2 that it will enhance the quality of the game to something greater.
Thatr something that the developer need to do
I don't think that there's going to be any performance enhancements. The only improvement would be faster load times but even then, it would just be 2-3 seconds faster. Most third parties that made watered down ports or cloud versions on Switch would just release uncompromised ports of the PS4 versions on Switch 2.
That’s not how backwards compatibility usually works because those games are not optimized to run on the new hardware, so they’re just running as if they were on the old console. The developers would actually have to go back and specifically update the old games to run on the new hardware. That’s happened on occasion, but I wouldn’t expect it here outside of maybe a handful of popular titles. Even then, Nintendo likes to charge for things, so it’s probably more likely they’ll make us repurchase any next gen ports.
@@thedapperdolphin1590 I feel like next-gen ports would be primarily for third party games where they'll just release the PS4 versions of games uncompromised. That would also mean that games which were released as cloud versions on Switch would be the PS4 versions running natively without compromises (except for a few poorly optimized ports). The only re-release of a first-party Switch game I'm expecting on the next system is BotW for the inevitable 2027 remaster.
2:00 3ds
I think that extra button on the back is an attempt to make the joycons more like a gamecube controller for the inevitable gamecube on NSO for Switch 2 they're trying to plan.
I’m VERY curious what the new button under the Home Button is going to be. My theory is a form of a social button. I know Miiverse is long gone, but bringing back some new form of social communication would be fantastic!
Secondarily, as a pipe dream, maybe the next console could support two screens, and the face button would be a way of toggling between them? That’s certain very unrealistic, but I’m just brainstorming here!
i hope its a ring finger/pinky button, i always thought it was such a missed opportunity that games didnt let you use SR and SL in most games when playing with two individual joycons in each hand.
3:99 that third extra button to grab onto would likely be for the middle finger. Meaning it's in an area where ur gonna naturally rest ur fingers where ur still going to use the top 2 buttons with pointer/index finger and the middle finger button will be more of an option to press as an extra button not normally used during gameplay depending on developers intentions. For instance pressing in the 3rd button with ur middle finger you may have to press it harder to click cause ur fingers naturally uses it to hold the joycon. Also maybe both 3rd buttons Left and Right side being pressed in at same time can being up other options normally not used much. Like a quicker shortcut option to Switch's menu screen or br8ng up maps in a game maybe or whatever.
Maybe the new joycons (or the right one at least) will have integrated mics and the button under home will be mute/unmute mic?
I just hope they keep the IR sensor on the R joy con. What a great feature that was
They will have to for backwards compatibility
In other news, Happy Birthday, Kirby!! 🎂
I hope this new influx of information signals that we’re getting close to an official announcement
Nintendo needs to hurry up and announce this damn thing.
I imagine the new buttons on the back will work similar to the B button on the Wii Remote. It seems like it might be an easier button to press when the Joycons are held sideways, because I don't know about you, but when I tried out that sideways method, I struggled a little to actually press the L/ZL or R/ZR buttons.
However, the biggest question about this new system has yet to be answered:
Is Stick Drift still a pertinent plague, or have they actually fixed it by upgrading to Hall Effect Sensors?
I hope Switch 2 has analog trigger.
The 3rd button function will be more of a handle to hold the joycon better. It'll DOUBLE as a button too. You put ur middle finger on it and it rests there as an option if u want to do that. The bottom DOUBLING as a handle will be a button that's not easy to accidentally press so it'll be something u gotta press harder like with a click like original GameCube L and R buttons I imagine.
Hopefully they improve on the Haptic feedback
the new button can be used for Amiibo or he can "activated/enabled" the IR Camera of the right joycon for scan QR code ? (maybe the new joycon upgrade the IR Joycon and make them an actual camera be like the DSi/3DS ?) 🤔
same for 3ds
Well these are all good signs. The 1080p handheld mode hopefully won't hurt whatever performance gains the improved hardware allows for. Backward compatibility is a must for me. The library is vital.
lol hurt 😂😂😂 it’s going to be doing ps5 level ports it’s going to destroy ps4 1080p plus power plus dlss 1080p is no issue people are not grasping how important integrated dlss AI cores rt cores and a gpu ten yrs newer than ps4 will do in handheld mode
I feel like it's going to be 900p in handheld mode for better battery life.
I figured it would be BC given Nintendos history but I hope the upgrade upscsling rumor on older games that didnt run as well on switch get a patch upgrade to look, play better ie MK1, Batman games to name a few offhand.
Thank goodness for backwards compatibility. It was easy to expect, but I was also scared. Nintendo does weird things like that.
Bigger joycons is also very good! I was able to make them work for me, but hopefully it'll make handheld more comfortable.
I wonder if the new trigger buttons could mean that the Joycons are going to be used for VR control
So the switch 2 is just a normal switch with extra buttons and better graphics? I don’t have a problem but that sounds surprisingly tame for Nintendo. I expected a weird gimmick.
Not just likely improved gyros and rumble and sticks better in every way
Ds to 3ds wasn't crazy either, nor was GBC to GBA, It's not out of the question
Nintendo might not do gimmicks anymore they might just have the switch be there main system like other companys
Basically this is what we should have expected back in 2021, the Switch Oled was destined to be the Switch Pro, many inklings pointed to that conclusion...
So we lost 3 years...
Now I'm sure it will be once again underpowered.
Think that we probably are going for a 7/8 years gen with this "Switch 2" that will basically be around Ps4 capabilities...
That'd do the trick in the next 2 years, but what's next...
We would still have a 2 gen gap in a near future...
So that'd be ok if Switch was only playing in the portable ground...
But nope, it would be also their unique home system...
And you already know this "home system" will be tied by the handheld power limitation.
Basically once again, ultra low port from 1/3rd party, only "enjoyable" on your 8" screen.
And a bloody massacre on 55/65" 4k Tv.
Ring a bell??
@@jedoled isn't 4K the standard right now? And 1080p is better than the steam deck oleds display. If anything this is Nintendo going head to head with the competition going for hardcore gamers. Not that I think they need too but that's definitely what this is going for. (Also if your complaining that graphics will be underpowered after 4k, you got things to check bub.)
a new button could mean some more gimmicks and nintendo charm 👀 like how the 3ds is a lot more whimsical than the original ds!
Great vid! Love the content as always!
If it’s true that Switch 2 will -not-have OLED screens as was supposedly leaked last year, might the delay into ‘25 possibly allow for it to now have them, as time can also help component prices to drop?🤔
Thanks for the breakdown! I wish they would just go ahead and show off the darn thing and make it official lol
2:00 - again with the DS -> 3DS. hopefully there's a tech jump more proportional to the dual screen handhelds vs GB -> GBC
Electromagnetic connection? That doesn't make sense to me. I wonder why they wouldn't use electropermanent magnets like Project Ara originally did.
I never knew that's what the design difference between Game Boy and Game Boy Color games (and, by extension, DS and 3DS games) was for. I wonder why they didn't do it for DSi and New 3DS games.
I do have one concern/question. Old joy cons are still compatible with the new switch in terms of they can connect wirelessly. I understand that. But will they still connect to the console itself? If we are getting bigger joy cons will the old ones not connect to the new console? Can I not use it in handheld? Will I need to buy a charging stand for joy cons?
hope they still work, similar to how old Wii-motes were compatible with Wii-U
I really wish the triggers get that analogue triggers.
A third shoulder button would be interesting. Maybe future controllers by Sony and Microsoft will join that "trend". Devs could have more freedom of assigning controls to buttons than now.
This is just my guess, but what if the 3rd button that’s on the back of the controller is a scroll wheel? I think it would be an interesting addition to a console
Im sure the switch 2 cartridges will just he slightly bigger lol
my biggest surprise is the way he pronounces "button" ❤
I'm predicting that the joycons will be bigger since the screen is bigger. Probably about 2 or 3 inches bigger than the current ones
gonna have a hard time explaining to my parents where the R, ZR, and the (ZZR? ZR2? ZR+?) buttons are
Oh the sweet nostalgia I'm getting from the Super mario 64 background music
As far as the joycons go, I'll be happy if there's a way to switch the grip without needing to use the right joycon.
(Yes, my right joycon did stop working once. Yes, it did "soft" brick my Switch. Yes, it was annoying. Yes, I am still a little bitter about it...)
The name switch attach makes more sense now
They better make the controllers work this time because I had about seven different pairs of controllers that stopped working after two weeks, and joycon are expensive
I can't wait for the Switch Attach to come out
Whatever the new buttons are, they won't tie important game mechanics to them because that would break compatibility with OG Joycons.
Happy birthday to Kirby 🎉 🎊 congrats.
Thank god for full BC though. Dunno when the system will come out but last thing I'd want is to have to avoid buying a new one til I was 100% done with my current games. Or having to dig the old system out to play multiplayer games at parties.
I guess and hope the third button will give each Joy-Con a Home and a Snapshot button.
The new button could be a share button? Maybe they’re going to lean into online connectivity for the new console.
The switch already has a share button. Isn’t the screenshot button the same thing? That’s how it is on PlayStation.
@@TimDespairBear11 It's not done through that button on Switch.
It just takes a screenshot when you tap it or video if you hold it for a few seconds.
Sharing can only be done when you go into the album in the system menu.
It is a wonder what kind of games that Nintendo will be making to release on this new (possible) gaming system of theirs during the early points of this gaming system being out 🤔. A new Super Mario game (2D and/or 3D)? A new Mario Kart game? A new The Legend of Zelda game? A new Kirby game? A new Super Smash Bros. game? A Splatoon 4? Generation X (10) Pokemon games?
I hope it's also digitally backwards compatible. Would love to be able to transfer a lot of my indies over
So like how you can transfer your Xbox 360 games to your Series S or X?
@@SaltyToad00 pretty much. I just don't wanna rebuy anything on the switch 2 eshop haha
Backward compatibility is the most important feature as far as I'm concerned. I have too many games on my switch that still need playing.
The dock is big? Huh. Never saw it that way
If we can live stream on it that would be pretty cool
I never saw the Switch dock as being too big
It's a lot easier to pack than a PS5
look at the switch without joycons Inside the dock It looks like a mini game console
but It would be nice to have a direct hdmi option with Just a cable
2:00 They also did that with the 3DS, you couldn’t fit 3DS games into a DS
I've mainly been responding to these "Switch 2" rumors and such with, "Huh, interesting," and moving along. Probably won't feel all that excited about it _at least_ until Nintendo themselves are actually talking about it. Then again, all of my hype is kinda being taken up by the upcoming TTYD remake that'll be out within 26 days.
Ever since i got my Steam Deck Oled i never looked back at my switch
My “Nintendo Snap” theory is seeming more and more real! 😅🎉
I'll wait till an announcement is made and avoid the rumors
Pyoro is backing this one so it’s likely true
The backwards compatible bit about Switch 2 games not working on Switch 1 is a no duh moment. No new system games run on the older system, that's not how backwards compatibility works, it brings old forward not new backwards lol. Gamecube games played on the Wii, but you couldn't play Wii games on Gamecube, you would play Wii games on Wii U but not Wii U games on the Wii lol.
Ah yes, the fabled Forwards Compatibility. Almost as impossible as traveling back in time.
@@RJS2003 Indeed.
I hope digital titles will be able to be transferred via Account Transfer
Here'd we go!
Why weren't there any legal actions against this massive leak?
That post has only been up for like.. a couple hours from what I can tell. Not enough time for anything legal to hit 'em.
Crazy idea but hear me out. What if the new switch console is called the “SwitchUp”?. Probably an idea some fan thought of before but it’s not a bad idea. At least I don’t think so.
Nintendo’s version of VR is coming.
I hope the joycons will get a power button ngl
Backwards compatibility with Pro Controller is actually very disappointing. That means no games designed around a new controller with analog pressure-sensitive triggers or buttons.
I don't think this company will be making the controllers after revealing all this.
I’m really hoping that you can play switch games on the switch 2 with better frame rates and resolution
Unfortunately there won't be. It'll just have slightly faster load times.
@@lol-ih1tl Nintendo could do what Microsoft does and have their own version of smart delivery, but I doubt they will do that considering they’ve never done that before
@@JGr2000 the way how Nintendo handles backwards compatibility is by giving the console built-in old console hardware, which is what the 3DS did with DS games. So Switch games will just boot up in a "Switch mode" and they'll run at the same frame rate and resolution as before.
At this point Nintendo needs to officially announce it.
I just need it revealed 😭
Why is nobody talking about how much all of this may end up costing to the end consumer? Unless Nintendo is finally going to sell consoles at a loss from now on or are totally out of their mind to sell them for $500+ none of this makes any sense.
but the Switch already has a Social button, that's what the Share button is
also "Switch 2 games running on Switch 1", no, that's not what Backwards compatible means. not to mention it would be dumb regardless considering the main issue with Switch 1 is the performance issues from the later games. the best you will get is dual releases like Breath of the Wild did back then
No it doesn't. That button doesn't 'share' on its own, it just takes a screenshot or video.
You need to go into a separate menu to do that.
@@King_Luigi yeah but you don't need an extra button to bring out the Share menu, the PS5 doesn't have 2 Share buttons
@@Artista_Frustrado I'm just saying that the Switch doesn't have a "Social/Share" button on the controller.
All it does is 'Capture' screens or short videos. 'Sharing' functionality is buried a few menus into the system.
Whatever is going on with the next system and its controllers is a different topic.
@@King_Luigi yeah & i'm saying you don't need a separate button entirely dedicated to that function, they could easily just make it an even longer hold, or pressing Share + Home
@@Artista_Frustrado That's something I wasn't even arguing about.
I know adding a 2nd button for just 'sharing' isn't necessary, you don't need to tell me that.
(...though now that I say that, it suddenly sounds like something Nintendo would do. 🤔)
I honesty hope that Nintendo’s console after their switch(es) is a non portable console. Like it’s cool but at this point it looks like they’ll never get away from the switch and that has me worried
And if they were to ever get away from the switch then what about the games and online services, will they shut these down too? (Probably yeah)
I’d prefer if they didn’t do games meant for both systems. There were PS5 games that clearly didn’t reach their full potential because they had PS4 versions in mind, so I’d hate for that same thing to happen here.
