@GeorgeCoopz Good job! The deciding factor of a successful console is consistent compelling software. Droughts and/or lack of consistent good games are what made any console struggle.
The Dreamcast might be an exception, but I can’t remember release cadence.

The dreamcast was a case of circumstance, It would've been everything in that generation had the ps2 not included a dvd feature. (Or vise versa, the dreamcast supporting dvds)

I feel like the new gimmick for the Switch Successor will use Augmented Reality with a camera as a way to emphasize portability and they dont have to make it fit on your head like a VR headset.

That sounds good. I do think the new switch will have a camera too. I think they are gonna add a lot of features from the 3ds and then hopefully a new miiverse from the wii u

Assuming they don't incredibly screw up the marketing this time around, I see the Switch 2 being a success, but I think there's a high chance that it doesn't outsell the original Switch, basically making this a DS/3DS situation in terms of sales

Yeah I can totally see that coming. I do think the switch 2 will sell pretty good but compared to the switch 1, it will look bad

Predictions for the new switch
-Nintendo will take everything people want in a new console and implement the two or three things people don't care as much about.
-Nintendo will remove a feature that was a major part of the switch's identity.
-Nintendo will add a new gimmick that will never be used because developers wont have a good way of implementing it into multiplatform games.
-Nintendo will publish a few amazing first-party games that will exhibit the new switch's full potential.
I love my switch, but now that steam handhelds are more prevalent, I will probably not be interested in their new console/handheld.

Sounds like something they would do. That's the problem nowadays, there's powerful alternatives like the steam deck and nintendo is always behind in power (that's not a problem for me) so will the switch sell well? I'd rather nintendo make a home console again and perhaps than the switch will become the new 3ds

I feel like it will be a slightly stronger switch with more wallpapers than black and white. I don't really see nintendo doing anything cool except some games

@@Georgecoopz Honestly, it's not even the power for me, I just want to be able to play all my old games. Luckily, I still have my 3DS, but once that breaks, I don't have an official way to play those games. On my steam deck, on the other hand, I don't have to build up my game library when I upgrade to a new device, I can download anything I've ever bought from steam.
That being said, there are pros and cons to both systems, and there's not a "better" device. I'm sure the new switch will fill a niche that works perfectly for some people. It would be interesting to see Nintendo attempt another home console, but Nintendo seems to do best when they're not being compared to PlayStation and Xbox.

Depending on how politics work out, this might become like the “decline of video gaming” series.
Then itll depend on how much a foothold libs have in Japan.
And finally,
if using that foothold they force feed everyone crap like whats been going on.
Its in pokemon, its starting to appear in sega’s, i hear about mario having it too.
Cant we just have gaming like it used to be? Without all the poison?
Imo, the devs will fix all the other stuff people complain about (mostly the Japanese people’s switch complaints probably).
There’ll probably also be new problems and complaints since the company will try more new things

I find it ironic that this is excatly what people said in 2017 about the nintendo switch.
And while I do feel like he has a point, as tech is not improving as fast these days as it was back then.

@The_Spooky_Boi if we show graphics for how much technology has improved over time then I guess it would be the same but we don't use computers for visuals only, also do video game graphics need to improve so much more? ray tracing is like the only next step to make games look really detailed but right now only good pcs can do that, but no pc can run cyberpunk 2077 at the highest possible settings yet without dlss (at least I haven't seen any yet)
