@@shxtz7315it’s called a switch and you can’t switch from handheld to tv mode.
My issue with it was always the name. It shouldn’t be called a switch because it doesn’t switch at all. Still a great little console, but they should have thought of a different name I think

You’ve got 7 years of a catalog built up, along with the retro gaming. So if you’re just now getting into the Switch, you’ve got plenty to play. More than enough to keep you busy for years.
I can say the same about the ps2, nintendo is a joke.
not really cuz you to pay a subscription to play the older retro games witch a huge loss to me.
@azurekite3870 oh wow, a whole $20 a yr to play NES, SNES and Gameboy games 🤦 if you wanna play N64 and GBA games, yeah, you'll have to upgrade to the expansion pack but they give you access to their first 3 systems for only $20.

Seriously, It's like we were in another world back then, My wife (now ex)and I stood out in line the day of release at Hastings and we both had requested that day off from work, spent the whole day playing it, brings back great memories.

I JUST got a switch for my birthday this month. the original OG switch. I have been enjoying it so much.

Got a switch this month too. I had a 1 tb card to use for storage and slapped it in there. Got Tears of the Kingdom. I will likely reserve its use for exclussives of which there are many.
Nah literally geting mine this month because of my birthday 🤤
Bought the Switch Oled Mario edition for myself as a New Years gift. Yes it is worth it (Coming from someone that has the PS5, a Gaming PC and now the Switch) Love it.
That’s the same Switch OLED I have and the Switch is my only system I own, I had a PS4 but didn’t get on with the games and then there was the issue with storage space on the hard drive and I wasn’t prepared to spend £90 to £200 on a 2TB hard drive plus i didn’t enjoy the majority of the games I had and nor was the PS4 UI great to navigate either, I love my Switch and it’s the best system I’ve had in a very long time and the most fun. Nintendo being the last of the old guard of Nintendo and Sega and having grown up with and owned more Nintendo systems than any other, the familiarity and simplicity of Nintendo’s IPs made it a no brainier to choose the Switch and will be sticking with Nintendo’s consoles moving forward.
my parents got thqt same version for me and ive been playing a lot more now :3
One of the things I like most about the switch is the ability to bring couch co-op anywhere you go. The oleds better stand and screen make it much nicer for this.

Monster Hunter Rise is a very clear example of good optimization. Game is very quick and looks good(for a switch game). Always impressed me how it takes no time to load into another section.
The only switch I have used is the Lite Version. Got it for $130 2 years ago and it still works amazing. Love the Lite!
You will never know the comfort of lying in bed, having the screen set up and just playing with your joy-cons in each hand while your arms rest next to your body. Believe me, it is amazing
@@fayelinae We got our nephew a regular switch OLED in December. I’m not a fan of the joy-cons by themselves. I have no idea why 🤦🏾♀️😭.

I thought it was ridiculous when the OLED came out but I was shocked when I saw a display model in stores. the difference in picture quality was much more noticeable than I expected
yes, it's amazing, completely renewed my interest for the Switch. in some ways it's still a better console than the steam deck or ally just because of the screen, battery life, and weight. I know the Deck has OLED now but that just happened and it still can't come close to the battery life or weight. and if you add a $20 plastic grip, the Switch has better ergonomics too
I remember coming across this channel when he was just starting and watching his videos. I came across it again and am blown away with how far it’s come. Keep it up brotha
I bought mine today 🙊 I had to get my hands on the red one. Who doesn’t love portability?!!
Probably nobody wants to know that, but HW Legacy got updated and runs FAR BETTER in the open world environment. In the meantime Arkham Asylum got an update that (mostly) fixed the stuttering while running. Also, Turn Me Up stated that they're actively working on City and Knight patches and they're coming soon
the lite was released in September 2019 btw
I just bought a switch lite two days ago
Since I never had a switch, the lite will let me enjoy what I missed without spending much, and when the switch 2 is released, I'll be able to experience these games in a TV.
well nintedo hasn't said at all if the normal switch games will work on the switch 2 and if you really wanted to play the games on the tv then you shpuld have bought the normal switch instead.
Honestly, are you really saving that much buying a Lite instead of a regular Switch? After tax, you're still paying like $230-250 or so for the Switch Lite right? At that point, the regular Switch is another $50 plus tax. Not only that but you're missing out on the key feature of the Switch being able to be docked or undocked. You're also missing out on the slight overclock and resolution that plugging the Switch into the dock provides. Example: 720p vs 1080p.
I'd recommend u to play the games that were released on the Switch in it's first years (zelda breath of the wild, mario odyssey, mario kart 8, smash bros, xenoblade chronicles 2..etc) as the last games might get a re-release or graphical patches on the upcoming switch
@@kingzach74 I've used both a Switch Lite and an OLED.
My PC monitor is OLED, and I appreciate the difference, but I always prefered the Lite for a plethora of reasons.
1. It fits in my pocket, a portable console that isn't portable also loses a "key feature".
2. I love the colourful models, not just on the joycons, but a full, blue unit.
3. It may only be £50 or so more for a normal one, but know what else is £50? A whole new game or two.
I see why people would prefer the big ones, but why would I buy something with an OLED display only to not use said OLED display?
Needless to say, I kept the Lite.
@@azurekite3870 the Switch 2 will almost certainly be backwards compatible with current Switch games, Nintendo’s not gonna piss off it’s Switch install base or just abandon the switch brand when it’s been so successful for them.
The switch was never meant for hardcore gaming……….
Shut up
Yeah but since they realise games like Hogwarts and Pokemon arceus …. They have to do something ..they can’t give just a game and looking shit .. if the console can’t afford that kind of game just don’t realise them ..
@@Thanos.T to be fair the technology in the Nintendo switch is almost 10 years old at this point (I know it came out in 2017 but it has a 2015 SOC)
I've been rockin' a Switch Lite since three years ago, i'm good with my actual console for the moment, i grow up playing portable consoles so, for at home gaming i use my PS4 or my Gaming PC, but while i can't say i don't get impressed by high end graphics i don't feel like not having them is a deal breaker for me, i bring my Switch lite with me and two 8bitdo lite 2 on a small case and i can play with friends wherever i go, at the end of the day a big point for buying hardware is planing what you want, what you can do and what you can overcome to make your equipment more suitable for you. If Switch 2 arrives this year i'll wait a little bit to get it, i don't feel in the need to upgrade yet, i hope the Metroid Remastered 2 and 3 arrives to Switch too.
Yeah the only sad part is the Switch 2 is projected for early 2025 😢
I bought 2 oled switch's at Christmas for my kids, they absolutely love them 👌
Ill be honest, i just recently sold my switch lite and got an xbox series s. However, ive been on your side all along, i loved my switch lite as it was good enough for what i needed. Part of the reason i sold it was because i just wanted a different platform with different games, not because of performance or any issues
Even check back two years on your switch lite video i was defending you in the comments my boy
Do you recommend the switxh lite? I’ve a RTX 4060 Pc and a Ps4 or should I get the normal switch
@@Carlo775 I bought a switch lite, I would say i kind of regret it since you cant play games like mario party. Also when im chilling on my pc, sometimes i wish i could dock to my 2nd monitor, so i dont have to play on a small screen. Unless you want to play the switch only games like pokemon, zelda mario, etc, its not worth getting a switch/switch lite. Just buy a steam deck
@@Carlo775Its up to you if you plan to play games on a tv/monitor, then that’s where you should invest in a regular switch. But if you know you will only play by yourself and probably only a select handful of single player games, then the switch lite is great
@@Carlo775 If you're planning on just playing handheld and don't really care about having the TV docking feature, a Switch Lite should be fine for you. But if you feel like you really need the dock, I would instead look into getting a regular Switch secondhand for cheaper than the retail price.

Really this just boils down to one concept: Do you want to play Nintendo games? Fact is is most people buy the Switch for exclusives, unlike other consoles (not that their exclusives arent damn fine). And even when you factor in the end of lifespan, there are incredible deals on used Switches that still make it worth the purchase IMO.
I'm convinced they timed the switch snap on the bg tv to happen each time they cut to Austin's face - lol :D
I bought one this month, never had one before. It was an impulse buy because I could and not a lot of thinking behind it. I didn’t get it for exclusives. I just wanted something to play in bed. Now I’ve spent over 200$ on games. But I’m very happy with the OLED model. And judging by Switch 2’s LCD screen, I am definitely not regretting it. Once Switch 2 gets an OLED version I will upgrade.
The fact that all this stuff is the SAME PRICE as it was when it released, basically, drives me absolutely insane. Every one should drop at least $50 by now.

love your videos austin!
I think the performance issues for Pokemon arent a switch issue, bit a franchise issue. I love pokemon but I'm so frustrated by the lack of fully voiced dialogue in the games; even the cutscenes have no VA. They also pump out games too frequently, they need to put more time into their games but they've gotten lazy bc they're gonna sell regardless.
Absolutely but then even on well optimized games like Tears of the Kingdom or the Xenoblade games, while it’s impressive how decently they run, you can tell it’s not optimal
Lack of fully voice acted dialogue in video games is not nearly as big an issue as you think it is. Games have had zero voice acting for decades and the overwhelming majority of video games considered "great" or "the best" either don't have any or what voice acting they did have was so inconsequential to what actually made them good that it might as well not have been there.
I agree, it’s nothing to do with the switch hardware it’s everything to do with game freak, been incompetent developers and the recent Pokémon games don’t even look good so how can it be a switch issue when the games look so bad. They look like PS2 games or at worst PS1 games.
Got my Switch OLED last week and I´m very happy with it. I alreay own a PS5, but saw on the Switch an opportunity to play more with my girlfriend and friends, as well as play while I´m travelling. I also jailbroke it, so I can even run Sony´s Remote Play on it and play my PS5 games where ever I want to.
Wait wait what I didn't know thats possible I'll like into that too
I love my olded! I play lots of indie games so it isn’t too demanding. I love my switch and will play it for years to come.
I just know if they made one today, it would do great for the sheer fact of how far ARM processors have become and how much the cost of SSDs has dropped. The switch is the perfect balance of price & portability of course at the post of power.
I had the original, lite and now i have the Oled since last year, stil love it😀🇧🇻
Its kinda sad that many triple a games from 2015-present need a demaster just to run on the switch
Just bought a switch for the first time in 2024. It’s pretty cool.
I wouldn’t do it simply for the fact of rumors of a new model coming out very soon. I would just hold off and wait for the switch 2 or whatever it’ll be called.

If the Switch 2 isn't backwards compatible it's gonna be a hard pass for me.
With the huge emphasis on backward compatibility these days, there is no way it isn't going to be
@@TurtleMan2023never doubt the anti-consumer moves Nintendo is willing to take bc they have a rabid loyal fanbase

@extra4542 yea, that's true. I personally wouldn't buy a switch 2, though if it isn't
@@TurtleMan2023 But if it will be backwards compatible, why they did not confirm that anywhere? They know ppl will restrain from buying switch games until that info drops. That is why I think that they will hold that info until very close to release and just say that it is not.
At this point in time i'd advise anyone to wait for the next iteration, I have no doubt it's coming or at least getting announced this year!
I can not believe that the Switch can play stuff like Borderlands 3, No Man's Sky, Ark, then jump right into Nes, GameBoy, N64, without even a hiccup. Maybe loading times could be better, but as for battery life and everything else, the Switch really is an amazing little gaming machine. The one major issue I have with it is just those stupid silly borders on all the retro classics instead of just a solid black border. I waited a while to get a Switch but Im very glad I did finally jump in and get one, its cool. The best part is you can be playing on tv then just pick it up and go outside or to the restroom and not even skip a beat.
I can't believe, I watched the Lite Video 5 years ago and had immediately purchased mine online.😢

I bought and OLED Switch 3 days ago. I had not played nintendo games since 2010. I also never owned a Switch before. Everything is new to me right now. I have a very, very expensive PC setup and the Switch is just FUN. That's it. If I let my graphic expectations down (frame rate is a whole other story) then yea, it's still worth it. If you have a similar situation to mine, you will be very happy.
You could still buy a Steam Deck and run emulators which my friend yaps about all the time but, you can't play online with friends. Sooo perhaps if you are more tech savvy you should probably buy a Steam Deck so you can get access to both sides of the coin. I don't have any games I would rather play on my Steam Deck than my PC so the Switch just made sense.

Is it worth it in 2024? Of course it is! The library is huge and full of games that run amazing. So many first party games since the launch run at 60fps. So if you're just starting out you have so much to choose from. My son got his last year and so did a few of his friends and between all the Mario games, monster hunter rise, Metroid, cup head and so many more he is having a blast.
The "micro loading screen", as you called it, isn't Switch-related... HL is simply atrociously badly optimized and even does that on a 7800X3D, 64GB of DDR5 6000 RAM and an RTX 4080.
In my opinion, the switch, even the lite model, is best for Nintendo exclusives and the online catalog.😊.
Nah. A Gaming PC(or handheld gaming PC like a Steamdeck (or any other handheld that runs Windows) and a Switch Emulator(Yuzu or Ryujinx) are best for Nintendo Exclusives. They are far more powerful, can support higher resolutions, and higher framerates, and you're not limited to Nintendo's frankly subpar controllers.
I've pretty much stopped using my Switch entirely since I started using Switch Emulation(I use my gaming desktop with discreet graphics and desktop CPU). I get significantly higher framerates and PHENOMENALLY BETTER resolution(up to 4K 30FPS!), and while I understand not everyone wants to use a computer to play games, in general, it is a MUCH better overall experience when you have a proper gaming device to run the games.

Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch is honestly giving off GameCube graphics vibes. I had Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I swear the graphical fidelity was pretty darn close.
I’d say it’s more Xbox 360 and PS3 vibes than GameCube for Hogwarts Legacy on Switch.
Uuhhh I don’t think so, the reflections on the floor would make a GameCube choke
I haven't touched my switched for more than a couple minutes in like 3 years? the online is garbage and not worth the money, the ecosystem is very anti consumer (you have to pay for cloud saves, you can't buy old games released on their classic online service, etc), the performance for most third party and even some of the first party (looking at you pokemon) is mid to awful at best, and the form factor in hand held is terrible for me (notably the flatness of the back of the system leads me using a claw grip on the back which leads to cramping after about 30 minutes). I could probably come up with some other things, but I'll leave it at that. Now that I have a steamdeck, my need to use my switch is non-existent.
Well, Switch is still objectively better in portable (way more comfortable while still preserving an human size) than any other portable pc’s.
I donno I can't put my steamdeck down compare to my switch Which I did
At this point, if you’re playing a switch and not modding it, you’re missing out soo much. The switch homebrew community have had soo much time to release soo many cool things.
Tears of the kingdom just shows nintendo's/switch very prevelent motion recently. People underestimate the switch but games like BOTW came out almost 7 years ago, and still wash away your average PC or PS5 game easily and still stand the test of time perfectly
The hardware was outdated at launch. A million ports. Expensive games that never go on sale. I own one, it's the least used system I own. Nintendo lives off of nostalgia and fan boys. Don't get me wrong, I have spent A LOT of money with Nintendo. I already own a lot of the games the switch offers, on older Nintendo systems. Nintendo owes it's customers a new console running current gen hardware and NEW games. I only use it for Nintendo exclusives. If a game is offered across all three platforms, switch will always look the worst. It definitely has it's charm, and is a great handheld. I just feel Nintendo is trying to squeeze every dime out of an outdated console.
Same bro I got a PS5 and lt’s wayyyyy better for me personally (Also got a portal works flawlessly)
Should we sell the dang thing? 😅 I think about selling it
Third party goes on sale but ya Nintendo’s own games are always expensive
I had an OG one, played what I wanted to, and sold it 3 years ago. Now I'm buying an OLED one to play what I can't on my Xbox Series X, PS5, or gaming PC.
I just ordered my Switch oled from Amazon today.
I bought a switch lite on June 2023 and hated it. Thought it was dated already. Some games were lagging. Then I modded it, overclocked it. Now it is my favorite console over my playstation. I can also play my games on pc using sysDVR. Modding saved the switch for me!
You were playing the wrong games on Switch but then I’m not a techno nerd so I don’t notice much frame drops on Switch.
The M classic makes the switch look awesome at 720p upscaled to 1440p. Since the switch is only rendering 720p you get higher and more consistent frames along with.
I wouldn't hold your breathe for a switch2 anytime soon. The switch is still selling well and as you said if optimized there is still performance left.
Afaik, switch 2 releases at the end of this year
@@RuneScapeStevejust rumors, same rumors have been around in the last 3 years.
@@riot9179 well, we will see. Several sources say the 2nd half of 2024. Around September likely
Gonna get one of those MIG SWITCH cartridges so I can walk around with loads of games on one switch.
Well for what its worth I bought the OLED version (Zelda package) of the Switch last summer. And so far I like it. Given the fact that I got the system very late in its life cycle I don't think I missed much. Not sure when the next version of the Switch is coming out, sometime next year I heard but I leave the heavy hitting games to the bigger consoles. There's more than enough Mario, Zelda and other games to last me quite awhile and i have yet to play Zelda BOTW so it will give me plenty to do. Plus there's the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters and the RE games.
i got a ps5 and i'n also buying a switch soon for mario and zelda
@@stalin4908 yeah I have a PS5 also and use that for the big games. I plan to use my Switch for all the Mario and Zelda games exclusive to that system plus can still dock it to my big monitor.
@@cavisualproductions4406 yh thats how u should use the Switch i got
mk1 on the ps5 i wouldnt even atempt that on the switch🤣
As a side note, the launch model is the one you want to get because there is an exploit in the hardware where you can mod it. The other models removed it....
It’s really easy to hack your 3ds
Modchip exists for modding newer switch models, need precision soldering though.
hwfly modchips are $10 nowadays and the newer models can be overclocked more, but yea if you dont have someone to install, the launch is the easiest
Speak for yourself, most people are not into hacking their switch it’s not worth it. Thanks for you people are a minority
@@Adamtendo_player_1 how is having full homebrew and every game drm free forever not worth it ? Absolutely worth having a modded switch, they are far better.
The problem is “influencers” thinking there is a problem but there really isn’t a problem and even if there were, it’s very first world like.
I just got my first switch this year
I just bought used OLED switch, my last Nintendo console was the GBA, I have a lot to catch up on...
I got used Lite for like 60$, such a great console especially for this price.
