    I bought the famous $7 Nintendo Switch from Temu! But unfortunately, I had to pay more than $7 to get it - they advertise the $7 switch as extremely limited, and people claim to have gotten it for $7, but I'm not sure I believe them. If you look at the reviews on the switch listing I purchased from, it's a bunch of people talking about how happy they are for getting a switch for $7, but the reviews are just... weird. If you go take a look at them, you'll see what I mean. My conclusions is that yes, you can buy the $7 switch from Temu... you're just gonna have to pay more than $7 (and hand over a bunch of personal info as well).

      He put "$7" in quotation marks in the title, which is a big hint that the $7 Switch was not $7. He also clearly states in the video how much he paid and is SUPER CLEAR about it. You people act like he should reveal the conclusion of his video in the title. He spent a ton of money to make this video, and isn't required to tell you what he paid in the title. The title needs the "$7 Switch" part, so people know what the video is about. That isn't misleading at all, if anything, he is far and away clearer than most CZcamsrs would be. He is spending money so other people don't have to waste their time.

It's weird how Hong Kong get the correct plug while Singapore and Malaysia get the wrong plug on their Nintendo power adaptors (we get European instead of British plugs on ours) and have to use plug converters. Probably was a decision on the part of the local distributor.
      For me here in Singapore, I was able to get a power adaptor with the correct plug from a grey market seller, and I believe the distributors expected us to use plug converters.

    I was on the Temu band wagon, loved the products and cost. However, I returned a dress because it did not fit. They issued me a credit. Then, they debited my back account the cost of the dress. Stating they did not receive the dress. So far, we are even except I don't have the dress. Then they send me a confirmation of receiving the dress. So, now they have the dress, they have the original payment and a second payment they debited from my account. I have been texting back and forth and they continue to state I have the credit. I decided I was tired of arguing with them and would use my credit and chalk up the $68.55 as a learning lesson. I tried to use my credit and received a notice that my credit was not available. I believe it's due to Nintendo coming out with a new version to keep up with handhelds like the Steam deck etc. They're made in China and Japan so there is probably a surplus of consoles left in their factories so knowing that gamers are going after the new they're selling them at a lower rate to make something off them opposed from letting them become even more obsolete to the point they wouldn't be able to give them away.

      well if they did, this 'switch' itself probably has malware on it. So it may work, but when you're putting in your credentials it may save it out (along with any attached credit card info) from which they could make their money back through that.
      used laptops/computers are prob more of a concern for viruses/malware, bc those platforms are much more open, but if something like that did happen on switch, it would explain the very low cost. They have to be losing money making it, the question is, why would someone sell you a product that costs them more to make?
      $ cost isn't the only factor, be wary, usually when something sounds too good to be true, it's bc there's some other factor in play. Like any of the 'free' social media sites, they aren't charging you, but they are selling your data and preferences to advert companies and the like, and that's where they get the money/value from

      I had the same wifi issues with all of the switches I got from Temu. I just left the explanation in a separate comment, but I'll put it here as well to help spread the explanation to people interested:
      I didn't go into the wifi issue very much because retention data shows that most people don't care about the technical stuff, so I'll explain here.
      The 2.4GHz wifi issue I had was because I wasn't close enough to my router (which is a fault of the crappy network card in the switch - I was literally 20ft + 2 plaster walls away from my router, and in a spot where every other device I own has 0 issues).
      The bigger issue is that the upper channels in the 5GHz wifi band are blocked by both the Japanese and Hong Kong switch consoles. This is because there is a portion of the 5GHz wifi band that works in the US, but is restricted in Japan. So, if you're in the US (like I am) and your router is automatically assigning your wifi channels, you will likely have issues connecting to 5GHz. You can avoid this issue if you tell your router to not use those upper 5GHz channels, but the fact is, most people don't know how or don't want to do that.
      So while the switch is region free, your wifi experience will not be the same if you buy a Hong Kong or Japanese switch to use in the US.

    I own a Japanese Switch, quite practically because they were much cheaper in Japan. (And I'm not adding my holiday travel to the cost) In Europe you'll pay around €330 for one and they rarely go on sale due to the (presumably) low margins. In Japan However they are much more affordable, I looked around Akiba and with the conversion at the time + the tax-free shopping, I managed to get a new OLED for €175. That's a huge discount for this type of hardware. There were used ones available too for even less. If those types of prices can exist on the market, temu would certainly have the capital to purchase a grand volume of them for a bulk discount increasing margin enough to make it interesting in NA or the EU, allowing them to sell them at MSRP for regular margin, and then every once in a while for 7USD or 10EUR without making a loss on it. It's effective marketing for a sketchy company of it's kind, but obviously it's safest to remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

    It's not a scam if they're really giving away 10 OLED Switches a day for $7 as that's all their advertising. Only problem would be being 1 of the 10 to actually get one. Personally, I wouldn't even try as it's hard enough to buy a console that has millions upfront, PS5, as that took me almost a year. I was lucky with my Switches as I managed to get 2 from Best Buy because they allowed you to buy one of each color. Just had to pay for everything upfront. I then gave one to my nieces as a present.

      @@ShingenOnimost people know the switch is region free - it doesn’t mean I’m not going to test them and see what happens. I even had a segment at the beginning of the video talking about the whole region free situation, but I deleted it because the fact is, most people watching the videos don’t care about any sort of even slightly technical explanation. And I have tons of data from previous videos that shows that. That’s why, in most cases, anything even slightly technical doesn’t make it in the video, is cut really short, or goes at the end of the video. At the end of the day, I have to optimize my video for a larger audience, not satisfy a handful of people that want to see everything explained in the video

    • @ShingenOni
      @ShingenOni Před 9 měsíci

      @jrob0021 I get that and understand where you're coming from. It just would have made more sense to omit that statement then about (not verbatim ) but "seeing which eshop you would get when logging in" if you use a US account you will always get the US store, same thing for Japanese and any other account that you have assigned a region. It was just odd if you know it's region free to not understand how the eshop works as well. But in the end, it could've been a slip up or just thinking faster than speaking. It's not going to change how the majority of people view your video. Thank you for taking the time to address it, though, especially not in any hostile way. It's a pleasure and honor to have gotten a little bit of your time.
