Game devs one year after release: "Best we can do with the PS5 Pro is 720p 60 fps"
I get the joke, but we already have better than that now.
Like Starfield being 30 fps because "engine limitations" and "fidelity" but the new patch will make the game run 60 fps on XBXSX. Contemporary gaming is a bad joke stretched too long.
It's the same with pc gaming. You get a new gaming pc, and after a year comes Alan Wake and starfield , and your pc feels like it's 7 years old😂😢

UE5 VRS is luminance based (commands give the end user some control on the luminance curve that adapt the VRS mask). Unfortunatly, it's also currently broken with Nanite new compute shaders (from 5.4). We can still use it per material without the luminance mask (ie: enabling reduced rate shading on background objects like vistas is a great way to use it).
Are you a dev?
We are very grateful for the smaller size of the unit, but we do not want it to be at the expense of operating noise.
The thing that impressed me the most about the PS5 is how quiet it is no matter what game I am playing.
Because absolutely nothing is pushing it to its limits

As an Xbox fan, it’s so ridiculous that developers will have to develop for 4 teraflop machine all the way to a 33 teraflop machine 🤦🏻♂️. They might as well just drop the Xbox version if they can’t cram it onto the series S…
As soon as I heard those specs I hated it. A "next gen" console should never be weaker in any way to a last gen console, even a refresh. If they GPU had 50% more units or units/speed combo, and the same memory (12GB) and bandwidth of the One X then the cramming probably wouldn't be so bad. The way I see it, if One/One S to One X enabled 1080P-2160P with +4GB ram, then Series S-Series X should have kept the same 4GB difference.
Ya xbxo is doing nothing but holding gaming back this generation, imagine how much better next gen games like gta 6 couldve been if they didnt have to make it work with the series s what a fail. At this point i want xbox to just die off n a new competitor come in, if this is the shit there gonna pull.
ps5 with rdna 1.5 is also holding everybody back.. especially being the main target machine for developers. Also all those pc gamers with old graphics cards that can only target 1080p gaming these days.. those are also holding us back..
@@elcourier no game has ever considered what gpu some few ppl run on there pc, consoles determine how games are developed unless its a pc only exclusive game. N the ps5 uses rdna 2 not 1.5
@@Sideways_Singh no the ps5 lacks quite a few features of rdna 2.0. Curiously this video talks about it. Both Xbox and plenty of PC builds support such features but aren’t used because the ps5 doesn’t support it. Devs need to take into account the target specs, if minimum specs are too high then they reduce their potential audience on PC. The fact that devs focus on the ps5 first and foremost to guide their game design choices prove that that console’s limitations are what is holding everyone back. Having said that, my point is that blaming the Xbox Series S for any shortcomings that some of the games you play is dumb especially when it’s known that devs don’t need to keep parity even between xbox skus and sometimes the games will just run at 30fps and/or much lower resolution and miss entire features like on Baldurs Gate 3 on that console if needed.
Probably the reason they use the same dev kit case is because they were testing the pro in it’s infancy next to the standard 5s development. I remember Mark Cerny said commercial PS5 I/O bandwidth is 17.38gbps with kraken and oodle and an absolute in house max of 22gbps and that number is probably from the Pro dev kit they were testing. They wanted a dual gpu but that hardware for the 5 for the same price wasn’t able to really utilize the dual gpu so expect something to that extent in future generations.
If the PS5's lack of vrs caused developers to ignore the feature, why have devs embraced raytracing that far exceeds what the PS5 can handle? I think it's more likely upscaling gives them more bang for the buck than vrs, and vrs doesn't work well with upscalers. Upscalers are familiar and easy to implement.
Yeah, what the improved VRS gives is small compared to upscaling, developing on PS5 now gives the option for an improved version of VRS 2 and PSSR on top of the pre-existing upscaling and image treatment solutions. I'm pretty sure they'd go for PSSR or another pre-existing solution.
Wdym the ps5 can’t handle rt lmao 😂
@@balloonb0y677I think he meant why it can’t handle ray-tracing and at least 60 fps at the same time. The PS5 is extremely limited to games that can handle both, and even still, your losing something.
@@RhonteaBennett-xo3if Cold War runs at native 4k 60fps with ray tracing..

60 fps should be a set in stone standard by now, even if it means baked in lighting which I’ve seen many gorgeous games with baked in lighting.
I want dynamic lighting in a game I am developing
baked in lightning takes longer to develop.
@@SrUnr3al This is a big problem, that gamers have become very spoiled. They want super duper 4K games with clear crisp 60FPS at all times, they also demand the price of games not to go up, they also demand shorter development times because oh no they have nothing to play out of the millions of games available. Just very childish expectations, at the end it's dedicated developers doing their best working often times overtime to make these games a reality while the gamers eat chips and drink beer on the couch demanding all these unrealistic goals.
@@avelonzxwell stated 👏🏼
The full DX12 feature set probably just comes from upgrading to an RDNA 3 GPU, it would have cost Sony more to remove those features. It's not necessarily something developers are going to use when they're still developing for the base PS5 first.
These chips are semi-custom so it doesn't cost them anything to remove something that doesn't need to be replaced. It's not like the chip is already produced as a Base model and they just add what they want to add to it. It doesn't work like that. It's produced when it's complete on paper. They take what they want and leave what they don't.
@@meshingaround9828 Fully custom I would imagine. Sony is one of their most important clients. If they don't get a fully customized design then who will?
@@meshingaround9828 AMD's semi-custom division offers a menu of modules that can be put together and tweaked in various configurations. There's no point in Sony asking specifically for older IP when RDNA 3 was ready to use when they were ordering the Pro.
Sony must have seen value in the features, or they would have cut them to save die spqce as they dod with the base model.
@@toastyburger the base PS5 never had these features to be cut. It uses various RDNA 1 modules (as can be seen in die shots) with select RDNA 2 features like Ray Intersection Engines added to them. I have no idea what Rich is saying but I love all the Nerd Talk!
Putting it short, we can wait a considerable upgrade ralated to graphical quality (resolution and RT), not necessarily framerate, unless frame generation comes in place.
So everything will continue to run at 60fps but now with good resolutions and image quality
You will need double the performance to get everything as is with minimal 60fps, so we know the answer to that. It’s an equivalent of a 4070. So no where near that. You need 3x the power to achieve 2x the performance and a 4070 or equivalent would do this. Sony are hinging everything on pssr, however how this will perform well who knows. So it will replace FSR and the hardware will be very little power increase if pssr works well. Don’t expect similar to dlss which works phenomenally well with NV gpu’s. So sorry no considerable upgrade. Consoles low grade tech designed to sell to the masses, however they are great for the cost compared to high end pc tech. It’s also a huge step with native resolutions even going from 1440=>4k and realistically highly detailed games run 60fps without upscalers or FG it’s only a 4090/4080/7900xtx that can consistently achieve this.
literally $600+ RT upgrade and that's only if studio's want to spend on devs to do so
Im not into all the technology stuff but would or can the pro enhance gt7 and VR2 in anyway?
Like less pop in or ray tracing in game play?
Probably yes. 2-3x RT performance means we could see RT in gameplay.
I'm equally interested in how well fame developers will optimize their games with the newer hardware. This will be the first time Sony has 2 levels of performance on consoles. In multi platform games, history suggests that having more powerful hardware doesn't always equate to well optimized performance. The One X vs Ps4 pro and series x vs ps5 illustrates this.
ummmm....Ps4 and Ps4 Pro...... two levels of performance.
@adrianhosein7698 Your right, I meant to specify the PS5.
If this is going to improve vr performance, I'd be tempted. Specifically gt7, shame Sony is giving up on vr, so I'm not sure I want to invest any further with that
How is Sony giving up on vr?
There's been a huge lack of first party support with nothing really on the horizon. Not to mention the closure of vr studios and the announced support for PC. Seems like they just want to wash their hands of it and recoup their losses. I think for the most part, we'll only be seeing indie games trickling in which isn't why I bought the headset.
Sony isn't giving up on vr they're putting it on pc and will be getting pc vr games on psvr
@@tristman8413 Have you seen their sales report of the psvr2? There is a reason why they're putting it on pc because it's not a system seller. They stopped making games for it pretty much and is basically banking on pcvr games to sell their stocks just sitting in the warehouse. Sony is gonna have a hard time because the quest 3 is a solid competitor for anything in that price point.
I finally get it. He reminds me of the guy from "Blacklist" the tv show😂😂😂😂.
I thought Alex cam was froze for a sec the was looking down for a minute and it wasn't changing.
It's still a console. There is no way the ray tracing in the Pro will be a game changer for consoles. Ray tracing is still killing 4080's,7900XTX's and strains the 4090's to some extent in 4k gaming.
Really depends on game and optimization. I guess FG also made a difference here which ps5 won't have
The benefit of ps5 is specialized optimization. We will see if devs actually do anything though

Digital Foundry I’m surprised you guys didn’t explain RNDA3 architecture. Because it doubles its Teraflop count. In reality the PS5 Pro has 16 Teraflops of performance not 33 Teraflops. Which is why the GPU is only %45 more powerful. Along with its bandwidth going from 448bit to 672bit. PS5 raytracing was equivalent to a RTX 2060. So a 3x performance increase should mean RTX 3070 level raytracing performance. PS5 GPU is in the middle of a RX 5700 and RX 6700. PS5 Pro GPU is %45 faster so RX 7700 is its equivalent. The CPU is the exact same just a %10 clock speed increase. So still equivalent to a Ryzen 5 3600. The PS5 Pro will be limited by its slow CPU as well as memory bandwidth/speed.

Sony has a lot of first party IPs and third party exclusive games in development. Second half of the ps5 will be loaded with games, just like the ps4. Plus, different parts of sony work on software and hardware. They're doing both at the same time.

I just want to be able to play games with RT at 60. Tried playing the Witcher 3 recently but with RT mode on it’s nearly unplayable. But, the game looks 10 times better with RT on. Sucks basically being forced to play games using performance mode with dumbed down lighting.
I feel like we need more news of new game engines that can actually use the horsepower rather than just increase the horsepower
I would like for it to be designed such that its easy to carry and put wherever I want. It crazy I need a separate stand for PS% to just "Stand"
This is not a 36 teraflops compared to say 10.3 on the base PS5 due to different architecture. I think it's supposed to be 45% more powerful on the GPU which makes this more of a 15-18 teraflop console.
don't even care about the video rich is just so cute in the thumbnail
I think VRS is the worst DX12 Ultimate feature. In almost all games, it noticably degrades the image quality for only 5% extra performance. Or in other games where the VRS implementation is not noticable it improves the performance by only 1%. I was actually happy that the base PS5 did not ship with VRS Tier 2 HW because of this. Also it does not play well with upscalers, especially FSR2.
How much longer does base ps5 have left....I've only just saved up and bought one!
Should've saved a little more and got a PC.
3 years ps5 pro will have power of 3080 ti. Would be too expensive for something like 4080ti.
about 3.5 to 4 years until the ps6, but the ps5 will still get cross gen games for about 18 months to 2 years after the ps6 releases, just like the ps4 was getting games at least 2 years after the ps5 released.
another 5 to 6 years for exclusives but I am sure longer even they still support PS4 up to this day by making cross gen games. Even more with third parties games
You’re good. PS5 pro is for simps that will upgrade without having any games to play on it. It’s like upgrading to the new iPhone at this point. Pointless.
For example, 2.35 GHz can be available using 18 cu and will be available for PS5 games without enhanced support.
Interesting theory. Taking any RDNA 3 efficiencies out of the equation, that is a very mall uplift from base PS5, however I suppose for those titles that are 95% smooth 60fps experience on PS5, that could provide a locked 60fps in GPU bound scenarios.
So naughty dog will miss all of PS5 standalone life span, while insomniac released 3 and gearing up for the 4th..

Really, PC gaming is where it's at these days (and plenty good emulators around). Unfortunately, it can be very expensive, the main issue hurting the scene since the pandemic era.

I sold my Pro to get a limited edition PS4 Slim and didn't miss a thing to be honest, and fan noise was minimal.
I'm honestly suprised how a semi decent pc that i bought in 2021 ( ryzen5 3600 + rx6600) is still good enough for me in 2024 to the point that i cannot justify buying an upgrade just for gaming. I have tons of great indie titles + tons of aaa titles from the past in my backlog. Even if i wanted to play all of the games i would have to plan them out for like 2 years straight. Of course it is because Nvidia won't provide that at a price that is palatable, or I think it would have happened in the last 18 years. Remember Nvidia and Microsoft had issues with OG Xbox and GPU pricing and that is why they went AMD, and Sony did after PS3, so yeah.

I'm literally only going to get it for GTA 6. Unfortunately, Rockstar insist on releasing a PC version down the line.
If they manage to upgrade quality modes from 30 to 60 and performance modes from 60 to 120 FPS (given the CPU limit is not an issue) I would be so happy. Also low drs games with unstable 60 FPS clean ups would be great.
According to Sony it’s a 45% gpu increase so that means that they might have to slight drop the resolution for the quality mode to hit 60fps in most games for example a plague tale requiem if you uncap the fps the average fps on ps5 is 38fps so if you add 45% increase to 38 it would be at about 53fps so that means the resolution would have to drop from 1440p to 1296p or 1188p for a stable 60fps at quality mode settings🤸♂️
Unlikely
PS5 Pro will run more games in 90FPS and high resolution
40 and 90fps VRR is what we will see
Games that run at 60 FPS on performance mode like Horizion Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarok will obviously not run at 120 FPS simply because the Zen 2 chip won't be able to push that many frames.
You can actually see that in The Last Of Us Part 2 - when you are indoors, the FPS actually gets up to straight 120 FPS. But when theres AI and stuff, the FPS hovers around 60 and 90 because the CPU just ain't strong enough to give you that high frame-rate.
Most likely we will get better FPS on quality modes. If God of War Ragnarok runs at 2160p 30 FPS or 1800p 60 FPS on PS5, it will most likely be 2160p 60 FPS on PS5 Pro, making the performance mode basically obsolete. But thats just my guess.
The killer app won't come for a year.
And if this thing plays GTA 6 at 60 fps then I will absolutely buy one in anticipation of that release.
Waiting to hear something official from Sony but rumoured specs aren't appealing. Also disappointed in Sony because its lack of support for the PSVR2. Not in a rush to give them any more money.

it won't be anywhere near 33 teraflops. it will be 25 teraflops at the very most but most likely closer to 20teraflops
I think the documented 45% figure is what we should be going by. So I''m guessing 15TF range or if we go by strict math, not leaning on dual issue/wave64 which has several limitation. It would top out at around 18TF at 2.35Ghz. I'm sure Sony will find ways to optimize their 1st party titles, but I'm not sure 3rd party titles will get anywhere near the billboard 33TF either.
All that being said, TF metric is not really the greatest measure of performance, as we have seen between PS5 and Series X, and even less relevant between differing architectures.
Rumors are just hyping up ps5pro real specs will be like
R5 5600+6800 its not going to be faster than this thats it🍆
The existing PS5 is a 10.28-teraflop console, but comparing teraflops directly between these consoles is complicated due to changes in AMD’s RDNA architecture. While it sounds like tripling the teraflops would be a significant performance increase on the GPU side, comparing the base PS5 and PS5 Pro would be closer to 10.28 teraflops vs. around 17 teraflops. It’s basically a 70% increase in power, so will equate to 20-25% performance increase. Really not worth the wait. Would need 2x performance or 100% increase for minimum 60fps on quality modes keeping resolution the same as well as details. All smokes and mirrors marketing jargon. Neither wonder consumers end up disappointed.

The problem with gaming industry : real target is 13 to 23 years old. A 14 year old today was born in 2010. Witcher 3 is still an amazing game which debuted in 2015. At 5 years old one cant enjoy a game like witcher 3 or rdr2.. you need to be at least 18 to understand the half of the game.
Now at 2024 (NOW) that kid is 14 and will play the w3 and rdr2.
These are must play games. Like bioshock or mw2 etc. There already many high fidelity relatively new amazing classics. Thats why they are doing ladt of us part II remake lol.
Last of us and part 2 are still new. So is god of war (2018)..
So they cant flood the market with too many AAA games... im sorry lads im 29 years old but we are not the target group any more. Most of the gamers are young people.
Our age group plays either fifa, cod or similar games...
So ps5 pro is good news. Because classic games remakes will look better
Vr2 will get better quality and experience.
Also dont forget that ps5 base has rdna2 and 1st gen weak RT. Newer games already push the ps5 to its limits.
We need a mid gen refresh. As there wont be so many new games. Dont expect ps6 to launch at 2027... they will hang on with ps5 and ps5 pro for a while (longer than ps4). So for gaming industry ps5 pro is very critical and should be good..

The spec of the GPU is similar to RX 7800 XT (60 CU's) and 4 MB L2 cache but bigger L1 cache than RX 7800 XT (256 KB instead 128 KB ) and lower clock speed (2350 Mhz instead 2430 Mhz ) also added RT core from RDNA 4 plus Sony's proprietary Neural Processing unit for ML upscale . My prediction it will be on par with RTX 4070 Super a kind with how PS5 performs which is on par and slightly better than RTX 2070 Super.
4070 super is too strong. Rather than upgrading the cpu this would only make the upgrade more questionable.
@@dr.sivavignesh664
Zen 2 is very powerful for this gen, it's not a mobile CPU like Jaguar from PS4 era . Even from hundreds of PS5 games only 3 to 4 games run below 60 fps due to bad optimization and bad engines The rest of games run at 60 fps and even up to 120 fps.
So the limiting factors this gens is GPU not CPU
Also upgrading to newer CPU will result bad compatibility with PS5 because Pro supposed to be an upscale on graphic not a new games design.
@@mightyhadi6132 this generation games have barely scratched the capabilities. All we have seen are just unoptimised shit and cross gen titles. Once they start releasing current gen only titles we will see more cpu limitations. Gta 6 will surely be cpu limited when it comes to 60 fps. But all in all I don't see the value in this gen consoles. Xbox is just a game pass machine for multiplat titles. Ps5 only has cross gen exclusives ( no true next gen title yet ). Ps5 pro is just going to get us solid 60 in pre existing titles ? And just higher quality settings for upcoming titles ? I'd say pc is the better option.
RX 7800 XT has infinity cache, PS5 Pro will not have one.
@@dr.sivavignesh664
That's why CPU is not the limiting factor u even mention the developer barely scratched the capabilities (related a lot with CPU) And many games already run games at 60 fps even 120 fps on PS5.
Unlike GPU which is just a paint and color to the games design (CPU ) .
SO The pro will be just a better drawing tool and color than the base PS5.
Pro are intended as a better drawing tools of PS5 not a new consoles, so Developer still have to optimize the base PS5 .
Why even mentioned PC if the PS5 pro will just be still super cheaper compared to RTX 4070 ?
Looking forward to the ps5 pro 😊hope it comes out Xmas 🎄 time
I can’t afford to keep updating hardware. How about some games and paying the people that make those games rather than laying them all off at the drop of a hat.
Then don't update. It's just an option for those who want it. There are over 2000 games on ps5 currently I doubt you've played more than 10% of them if that. Layoffs are happening all across the tech industry. Inflation is making people buy fewer luxury/unnecessary items like video games so jobs are getting cut.
@@justwait9822 Don't you mean like 2000 PS4 games on PS5.

I want and need that PS5 pro to enjoy GTA 6 properly, while pc guys watching gameplay on youtube at least for two years most likely.
Haha true.
Yes 2 years for those willing to use Epic Game store's 1 year timed exclusive, but knowing PC Master race they'll only play on Steam and will wait the extra year for a total 3 year wait 🤣🤣

Won't even buy it on Steam because the annoying social club. Probably wait then one day emulate the xbox or ps5 version in future.
Cringe
you notice how the ps5 gpu says "max clock" its variable Tflops.. variable Core clock rates for GPu... teraflops use Core clock rate x CORES... so variable clock rate = variable Tflops.
XSX doesn't use variable core clock. it has what 1,850 MHz @ 56 , 52 CORES? like RTX 3080,4070 ISH.... PS5 was 1,800-2,100 VARIABLE.. @32 cores?
This will be 1,900-2,350 MHz? ps5 pro? or 2,000-2,350 mhz.. @ HOW MANY CORES? if its still 32-36 or 40 cores.. I WOULD TAKE 52 CORES @~1.9GHZ .. XSX.. peace :D and the CPU 16 core:D

PS5 and the PS5 PRO for 499 ???
What do you all think ?
599
It's weird how so many channels are just talking about numbers instead of games.... You can't play numbers.
Feels too early for a pro.. Not enough games pushing the PS5
Every ue5 title has pushed it, and future ones will continue to. The ps5 can’t hit 4k 60fps native(usually 1800p upscaled to 4k)in most new games these days, so I’d say it’s being pushed pretty well.
@@broskibrobro1278You mean 720p upscaled, not 1800p
@@DrJones20 Ehh I didn’t want to be too harsh on the ps5 . Cause it was mostly only ue5 titles upscaling from 720p. But yeah it’s not looking good for the ps5
@@DrJones20 Which games are that?
Games are pushing the PS5. Almost every game needs a separate performance mode just to hit 60 FPS.
Honestly the more I hear about the more this supposed ps5 pro the more I think that this isn’t meant to be a true pro level option to exist alongside the existing ps5 but rather a slightly improved model that’s better at doing what the original ps5 set out to do. I wouldn’t ever be surprised if they didn’t call it pro and just go with something like new ps5 or something. More similar to a new 3ds than ps4 pro.
You just described the pro console.
What does this mean for GTA 6? Would it reach 60 fps???
The only channel I trust for leaks/rumors like this. Also Alex is hot. So is Olie. :0
okay so big question will this push 60fps in games that are locked at 30 now??? how many frames we looking at that’s all that matters in sorry but that’s a true next gen goal…
No, should push 40 VRR with high settings
This is a question that can only be answered on a case by case basis.
@@tears2040doesnt VRR unlock 60FPS mode ? Like Uncharted 4 for exemple
It's up to the developers..
PS5 pro doesn't make sense.
No reason to buy it unless a small jump in performance is THAT important. Its not.
Idk. It depends. If one can trade in for like paying an extra 100 to 200 bucks. For some it may be worth it, especially for games rendering from 720 p. And games like rebirth that 2 options are very disappointing
@@joshuam4993 A trade in for PS5 $100 upgrade sounds good 👍
There wont be a pro. You heard it here first.
I still dont get these pro versions of consoles... Like hiw many do the expect to sell? Most devs wont even utilize the better specs other then sony exclusives.
So VRS used by AI could be a game changer !
MSAA is the only kind of AA that looks good and actually improves the image… why don’t we get it anymore? Every game forces this TAA garbage that makes it look like trash, and it grinds my gears
The thing about msaa is that it really is that much more taxing on a GPU, especially in newer titles with tons of high poly objects and deferred rendering . Remember msaa in rdr2 on pc? I had a good GPU back then and on 4x framerate went from like ~70 on max settings down to 30 with msaa
@@regularguy3879 yeah for sure, it's demanding, but a lot of features are that make the games look much better. AO, GI, Ray tracing. Not every game is as demanding as RD, but even still having the option would be amazing. I just want my games to look good. and this forced TAA makes that almost impossible.
Personally, nothing about these console upgrades entices me at all. Do these spec increases make anyone inclined to upgrade or "switch" over to consoles?
It will depend purely on price and storage specs. Everything else will do largely nothing
never again
Nope
For first time buyer, I guess this is good. I don't have a PS5 so it might make me want to buy it if the price is right.
It's more for people who are still using ps4 or ps4pro and haven't bought the ps5 yet.
Everyone is treating the ps5 pro like its a next gen console.
The ps4 pro and one x also have minor cpu upgrades, they need to keep it similar for compatibility. Also, 95% of PS5 games already run at 60 fps, so i don't know where the 30fps is coming from.
Sure PS5 pro specs are minimum right? Go to sleep.
It's at 3060 at best but more likely 2070/2080, so yeah..minimum
3080ti or 4090 or go home.
Gamers...pfft
Yeah the Pro is obviously meant to boost the resolution and ray tracing on games that are already running 60fps.
Hard to tell if people are being dumb just to be dumb or if they genuinely really are that dumb.
@@glenmclThe PS5 is in the middle of a RX 5700xt and RX 6700. The PS5 Pro GPU is equivalent to a RX 7700. Raytracing on the PS5 is like a RTX 2060. Sony says raytracing is 2x-3x times better on the PS5 Pro. So RTX 3070 level raytracing performance.
@@yunochan1849People are really that dumb. They expect a PS6 level leap and high end PC specs on a $600 console.
I lament the loss of valuable creative talent in the gaming industry who could potentially harness the power of PS5 Pro before they got fired this year. The implementation of more intrusive monetization in future game releases does not require ray tracing.

ps5 generally runs games better than xbox already and it has 2 tflops more power than the ps5...
Strange as the underpowered Peasantstation5 has zero features to even use a 4k tv or premium audio. Not sure how running games 30-60fps less is better? Tbh, the average person have no business trying to run a pc if they aren't willing to deal with the headaches of broken ports. A 4090 is just putting a bandage on issues that will persist like shader stutters and traversal stutters. Incredibly stupid and there is little reason why the regular PS5 couldn't support a simpler version of PSSR via software update. Horizon Forbidden West already solved image reconstruction in a single patch so why reinvent the wheel? Make it a universal API accessible to anyone and call it a day.
Depends on if it is software or hardware. Also depends on the performance cost of it and if the base PS5 has the spare horse power for it .
It has been "reported" the 300TOPs of AI from the NPU is driving the PSSR implementation. I'm doubting the PS5 has CU performance to come close what they need, so FSR is what we get on PS5 Regular.
