Hands-On With RAM and Jeep's New Hands-Free Driving System!

  • RAM and Jeep have finally entered the hands-free driving game with the 2024 Grand Cherokee and the 2025 RAM 1500! The new Stellantis system isn't as well polished as CuperCruise, but I'd say it;s similar to Ford's Blue Cruise system in terms of its function and driver interaction. Both Ford and RAM's system need more time in the oven however to compete with GM's hands-free system. GM's is not only smoother, it operates on a larger network of roads and it's better about telling the driver what's going on.

    I completely agree; The whole "take over now, driver; I can't do my thing so it's your turn now" transition, trigger, and notification all need to be much more in-your-face just like Super Cruise. Every manufacturer really does need to adopt that light bar on the steering wheel implementation that Super Cruise uses. It's just hands down (lol) the simplest and most direct way to notify the driver to take over.
    Thank you for making this video. I always appreciate the information that I can glean from your videos. I was considering the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee for exactly this feature (and a few other features) but it's just not worth the money with this kind implementation missing the light bar. I'm glad to see it's not completely unpolished but I'm still disappointed it disengages so easily without much of a hint.

    Lots of comparison with Supercruise and blue cruise, how about BMW's highway assistant? Would love for you to give that a try and hear your thoughts.

      You would have to pay for top dollar for BMW because it is not even standard on any of their models. It is a reap off add-on for BMW.

      None of these systems are standard. BMWs system has been very good from my personal experience and maybe you shouldn't be discounting things you have never tried.

      We have a 2024 x5 with hands free driving I think it does great very centered in it's lane and lane changes are very quick almost scary. Works up to 85 mph then you must be hands on after that. Adaptive Cruise works at any speed. Also does great in stop and go traffic. Very happy with our 2024 x5 m60i

      @@bradk6047 Nice, that's good to hear!! I have a '23 M340i with the adaptive cruise that's hand free up to 40 MPH in traffic, and i always thought it could go hands free at higher speeds because it's so confidence-inspiring. Cool that BMW is now officially offering that tech up to 85 MPH, to make the long drives much easier. The X5e is high on my list for when my lease is up next year.

    Heads up Alex. You don't have to depend on your co-pilot to pay attention. Just put your hand on over the driver monitoring camera. Results will be the same.

    People really don’t like a chorus of beeps and chimes while they drive. However, I agree that some easy visual cues of what the driver needs to do are certainly needed in this system - right there in the normal line of sight.

    • @pine111
      @pine111 Před 4 měsíci +4

      I think having a chime when the system is activated/deactivated is informative enough to be necessary, it grabs the drivers attention, which is needed, especially when the system deactivates itself. Tesla does this and there’s no complaints about that part of Autopilot, can’t see why Ram can’t either.

  • @CaptainRotmeat
    @CaptainRotmeat Před 4 měsíci +1

    I won't deny that SuperCruise's system is more visible, but I think that BlueCruise's system is more that satisfactory. Having your entire dash light up bright blue is hard not to notice. And personally, I really liked not having all the dings that I got on Tesla's FSD.

I will enjoy less headaches for as long as possble. My 2021 Laramie brand new full size cab full bed 33 gallon tank fully loaded special order. Water pump bad in 6 months. Battery exploded in 3 months. Had to replace cause dealer couldnt touch it for 4 months to get a water pump. I found the freaking pump myself. No need say what happened after got the part. more you use this garbage the more accidents. Quit bein lazy & drive your own vehicle. They are having us participate in own demise.
