Also the AM4 socket can go up to a 5800X3D without having to get a new motherboard, and PSU.
The problem with a 5500 and 6600 combo is no expandability because you’re limited to pcie3 by the cpu and 8 lanes only from the gpu. It’s borderline as is but the 5600 will at least give you pcie4 for future gpu upgrades

Utilization is what he is talking about you need to balance the cpu and gpu so that non would waste in power since the cpu would work less and the gpu would work more but still as he says it will work on games that are not gpu or cpu hungry.
IMO, depends on the person, have a better cpu with a not so great graphics card is fine, sometimes the person will be doing other things, with some programs in the background, open browser, listening Spotify...all of that taking CPU power. Between low tier/budget build and mid rangei consider this low tier/budget build 100% but still playable for sure
I have the 5600X and the 6650XT and my CPU usually runs at 70-80% when my GPU is maxed out. I am most of the time running on slightly lower graphics though.
I would kill for a pc like this 😢
I have a 5600x and a 1650. Planning on upgrading the 1650, just don’t know what yet. Was thinking maybe a 3060
That's pretty similar to what I already have in front of me. Maybe I'll upgrade when Micro Center opens up it's new store in my city early next year.
I have a Ryzen 5600 and a 3060 Ti. Its been perfect
Same cpu here, would def recommend 7600 or anything that’s the performance of 6600xt and above
I have a Ryzen 5 5600x paired with an RX 6700 XT. Great experience with 1080 gaming.
If u play a lot of CPU intensive games like Valve games, that combo is killer. The 6600 is in high demand in the used market anyways, if in a few months to a year you save enough money, you can sell it at 75%-85% MSRP, and get a faster card. Also the AM4 socket can go up to a 5800X3D without having to get a new motherboard, and PSU.
thats true .. i build my pc with ryzen 5 5600 and rx 6750 xt and i can play hogworts legacy at 4k with fsr q . i got 90 frame .. high sitting
My current setup is an rx 6700xt, i7 10700 and 64gb of ram on Linux, mostly used for playing a modded block game.
The problem with a 5500 and 6600 combo is no expandability because you’re limited to pcie3 by the cpu and 8 lanes only from the gpu. It’s borderline as is but the 5600 will at least give you pcie4 for future gpu upgrades
Ever one gangsta un till you need that better cpu to run minecraft with mods.
For competitive games is perfect
This is what i was planning to get lol, maybe the balance seems off but im getting a good deal for the parts
I'd recommend it with a dual monitor setup.
built this for my friend. was able to play warzone at 1440p ultra at 90 fps with fsr.
Im getting the same but with the rx 6650 xt
Btw when i googled: "is 650w good for the rx 6650 xt" . It gave me this answer: "yes, it is enough if you don't add another gpu"
This is my current rig, you do need slightly imbalanced build. Get an overpowered CPU.
Match your GPU with your monitor, then get an overpowered CPU to push them further.
Crazy to think bout 5 years ago high end systems are now budget systems in terms of performance
"im not an amd fanboy" literal direct quote
Reminds me of when i was. Building my pc the only gpu i could get was a rx 580 8gb!! I had a 13700k 32gb of ram and a 1000w psu! 6 months i ran that till i could pick up my 7900xtx
In the begining a Ryzen like that doesn't strugle even a bit, but over the years You will notice the cpu not keeping up and the gpu still going.
Finally, a video without recommending to buy am5 instead
A lot of peeps has this combo and it perform really good
the best advice
rx 6600 and Ryzen 5 5500 is my current setup :). love my 1080p setup!
I know that if you build a gaming pc make the gpu stronger than the cpu but i mostly play physics game and cpu intense games so i usually make the cpu more expensive than the gpu like an i5 10the gen with gtx 960
Me having an Intel core i3 2100 and an Nvidia GT710 2gb:
Built my brothers pc with 32gb ram, R5 5600x, and RX 6600. Kinda OP imo when he only has about 3-4 games to play. lol
I just upgraded my setup from a 10year old setup of i5 4th and 750ti to HP Victus 16 i5 12450H and 1650
😂 didn't had a better option in my range but for its EXTREMELY good and thank god for it
Brutha, I got an i7 13700kf and and rtx 3060ti.
5600 and rx6600 combo aint nothin on funky
The build i'm planning is literally the rx 6600 and the ryzen 5 5500 , so now i have no doubts.
Don’t buy this combination. The 5500 doesn’t support PCIE 4.0, which limits the 6600’s performance in some games.
@@tuxido4913 the 6600 actuallt bottlenecks the 5500 in this case. The motherboard in my build supports any PCIE relative to the GPU. It really comes down to that 12.7% cpu>gpu , which is still decent for a budget build.
@@DzDyT1 That’s not how it works. The motherboard’s PCIE support is irrelevant because the CPU does not have PCIE 4.0 support, meaning the GPU and CPU cannot communicate fast enough in some situations, causing a bottleneck. Not to mention the 5600 is also just better value. Spend the extra $30 and have a CPU which will be able to handle a GPU upgrade in the future.
Rocking my ryzen 7 gen 2 with rx6600 8gb with 48 gb of ram (unintended, original plan for 32gb)
Same specs, (don't have gpu yet, my friend told me to buy 6700 xt or 7700xt)
The CPU is not overkill in the light of certain recent games for even 1080p.
Depends whats the use, i think its perfectly fine.
Day 5 of asking for a vr ready pc 1500$ build
My 5600 paired with 6800, pretty good matches for 1440p. I have no problems ultra setting most of the games I play, but I will probably get a faster CPU and GPU if you are playing newer and more demanding games at 1440p ultra in 2024.
I got a good deal on a Ryzen 5600X and 6600XT and have zero complaints. I'm using it mostly for Visual Pinball with 3D anaglyph on a 32" 1140p 165Hz screen, but it runs solid.
I got this exact setup and I use proformance mode Fortnite so I would probably need a better cpu actually
Sorry, but
Midrange last gen does not mean midrange current gen. This is a budget cpu.
Pov me who built that pc 3 days ago 😢
Ryzen 7 5700x + 64gb ram + RX 7700xt, besta combination
I just built that exact rig on the weekend
This is basically what I have but a 5600g and it’s worked out well because I need more cpu for BeamNG lol
Oh lol I was almost about to do that combo
Lol Noel Deyzel-esque video
6700xt is very good with the 5600. I have both. Also have the 7800x3d and getting a 4090
I have a 5600x paired with my strix 3080 for school. When I use my schools computers I can't help but be in pain
swap that gpu to a gt 710 it's not like they'll notice lol
Day 2 of asking can you do a $700 am5 build it can go over $700 but can you keep it as close as possible and make it all new parts I know that the performance won’t be as good but I want it upgradable
I have that exact combo and I’m getting over 144 frames on all games I play. The rx6600is underrated af
200-280fps in Fortnite dx12 in pubs
Digital combat simulator on high settings is running 80 fps(this is a heavily gpu intensive game)
Also I am running it over locked at 2600mhz which is a no brainer
Can we talk about the fact that Best Buy says that the rx 6500 xt is “high end”
I would rather be gpu bound than cpu. I like to do stuff on computers that are more cpu heavy, so im better off spending extra for a better cpu than needed compared to the gpu im getting
My combo is a ryzen 9 5950x with an RTX 3060
If you want to upgrade to 1440p eventually without having to sell a cpu though, i would say pairing a r5 5600 with a budget 1080p card is totally sensible
Ive been collecting parts for my first build and I’m doing 3060 + 5600X
I run 5600x with a 3060ti on high settings 1440p and it handles it like a champ!
