- We're back! After spending 5months in Crick Marina living onboard our #narrowboat Thistle & Rose, but which is better being in a Marina or continuous cruising during winter.
Hi, we are Rozzie & Rob with our lovely cockapoo's Ralph & Rosie. We have given up the rat race, sold our house and have bought a new narrowboat, Thistle & Rose. Our vlogs are showing our learns as we go from bricks and mortar to life on the water. Join us as we literally learn the ropes of becoming continual cruisers on England's 2500 miles of canals & rivers.

Good to see you back. Crick looks a bit quieter than show time!! I've been a hirer for over 20 years, moored at the top of Hatton Flight a boat comes past at full speed and the wash pulls both mooring pins out, I was fortunately walking the dog back to the boat just in time to grab the stern rope and stop the boat from floating off. The skipper couldn't give a flying ......., was it a hirer - no an owner!!

Great to see you back, lovely vlog and helpful too. I notice you walked past Julie and Martin on rhapsody 😊. Our boat will be at crick with swan then we have to go into a marina until next year as hubby will be winding his job down so just popping out at weekends and when not working but from then we will be CC going forward. however like yourselves we may on occasion pop into a marina when visiting family and holidays. Lovely to see you guys again. We are into autumn here in Australia and the days are starting to be cooler and nights very cold. We finally got some rain this weekend after 5 dry weeks and had over an inch overnight lol. Hope the spring weather gets to you real soon. Tootaloo 😂😂

It's brilliant to see you back in action. I'd like to know how badly you guys have been affected by the floods we've had over the winter. It still looks quite high there. In the Soar Valley, around Leicester, it's been horrendous. A boat was washed off its mooring, got stuck at the bridge in Barrow, and sank on its side. The weeks will be nicer from now on. Cheers, and happy cruising!
Thank you, we were quite lucky really and weren’t impacted badly. We have seen other areas of the network didn’t fair so well, and yes saw that boat at Barrow, so sad for the owners 😢

I think you deserved a welcome rest and some easy comforts for the winter, I think if I was boating that's what I would do. Question did you have to book the marina slot long in advance and does it get full across the winter period?
Thank you! We started looking in August time, really depends on the marina, but Crick still had a few spaces 👍🏼
