    wow, that is probably the best tutorial ever done for a Fantasy Flight product.. EVER. The more laughable ones out there are Imperial Assault, X-Wing, and sever others that they never even bothered to create one.. the reason this one is so well done is because a lot of people would have written this game off as another Magic Gathering deck building game you spend tons of money to build a deck. Well, this game looks different, and that is why the went into great detail to explain the game play.. well done.

    This is a mechanically fantastic game, classic FFG where you sharpen existing games like MTG and make them better. But MAN if it weren't for buying Singles I would have dropped this ages ago, buying random boosters is a crazed semi gambler state then having to do it once more for a elite character (find it twice) is excruciating. I'd appreciate a LCG format much more. It's why I love the Drafts, Starter decks and singles, I actually know what I am buying rather than wasting my money, blind boosters are a kid's game and have no place in a tactical/strategy card game like this, it belittles the game which is unfortunate as it plays REALLY well.

  • @obi-wankenobihasthehighgro6607

    The ironic thing about this game after watching several videos is that the Young Jedi game made and produced by Decipher for the release of Phantom Menace is similar in concept and simplicity. Even the Star Wars game made from Wizards of the Coast, having it's three arena's and dice makes me think of this game. I'll give this game that the artwork and dice are great, but that's the best aspect of this game for me. As I understand the game more it seems to me to have a better chance of winning you to have access to some of the power characters, events, locations- though many collectible card games revolve around this concept however getting into a new game and being able to be competitive is a significant investment. Star Wars Destiny and Young Jedi both have points/resources that each player may use during their turn, also the objective to win either by decking your opponent or eliminating your opponent's characters is about the same (with Destiny using tokens and dice and Young Jedi using just cards), items and events are about the same as well so comparing the two games Destiny is just a copy of Young Jedi; the major difference I suppose is how the events impact how decks are made where Young Jedi focused more on characters and hitting your opponent's life force. Playing most of the collectible card games ever released for Star Wars to date the one produced by Decipher (Star Wars Collectible Card Game) is still the best- images straight from the movies, to game mechanics, nice trivia and additional text, characters, vehicles, starships, weapons etc- to overall capturing the conflicts and events in the Star Wars Universe. I might try this game out however Star Wars CCG will always be my favorite collectible card game of all time.

    Hello FFG,
    I know you posted a blog explaining that Star Wars Destiny will no longer be supported back in early 2020, but since then Star Wars has been flourishing with so much brand new content. The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Tales of the Jedi and The Bad Batch have since provided plenty of new characters, weapons and events that Destiny could utilize. Also Destiny never received the 10th set Wild Horizons in physical form and Episode 9(The Rise of Skywalker) content was missing as well. The Star Wars and CCG/TCG community is waiting and hoping that this game comes back in its true physical form, there is nothing like opening packs and starters sets and playing in person! If the sales or perceived market doesn't look suitable, then just poll the community and if there isn't much interest then maybe it's not meant to be, but if there appears to be enough interest then maybe create a Kickstarter or Gamefound campaign. With Star Wars turning around with even more planned content for the future, I would hope that Star Wars Destiny gets a second chance someday, just to know that the game may come back sometime would be really awesome!
    Thanks for the nine amazing booster sets and many decks that you made for us and I wish your company success with all your future endeavors.

      @IronShepherd5771 Před rokem +1

      I feel the same way! While the Deck Buulding game was a neat concept it's difficult to find any game that hits the same notes as SWD. Recently showed the game to some kids who fell in love with it only to find out they aren't making more....

    • @joesphmarks3841
      @joesphmarks3841 Před rokem

      @@IronShepherd5771 I whole heartedly agree, I myself have played many other card games both physical and digital like Keyforge, Transformers TCG, Legends of Runeterrra(LoR), Artifact and the upcoming Lorcana looks good. SWD has that fast but engaging action based turn sequence, that digital card games like LoR and Artifact have, it's not like Yugioh or MTG(which I've played as well) were your opponent has this huge turn of activating effect after effect and unlimited special summons and you sit and watch as you see your demise play out in front of you with little or no interaction as the second player, again I'm not a fan of games were a major percentile of an individuals success is determined on whether they went first in their games. I like games that allow back to back engagement with all players, which provides players the ability to act and react to every situation and decision being made.
      So I'm disappointed that this game isn't being continued and though FFG provided 9 really good booster sets, the game was still in its infancy and could've added plenty of new mechanics, just look at the final set that FFG was developing for SWD; Wild horizons had new green dice and the addition of famous monsters and creatures from all of Star Wars. And since SWD's cancelation in early 2020 there's been a plethora of amazing Star Wars content from The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, The Bad Batch, and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, not to mention FFG never produced content for Season 7 of The Clone Wars Tv show or as I previously mentioned Episode 9 content from The Rise of Skywalker. Again, plenty of missed opportunities!
      I believe FFG was contacted by Disney to limit the amount of resources used in the development of further and ongoing Star Wars products due to the overly negative reception of the Han Solo film and sequel trilogy by fans of the franchise, and so that there would be no costly and unfulfilling marketing decisions in Disneys plan for Star Wars. Personally, had Disney had more foresight and patience for the huge success that The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch have brought for Star Wars they never would've questioned the longevity and viability of the Star Wars projects that FFG were producing. Now I'm an optimist and believe that in the not so distant future we may see that 10th Wild Horizons set and more from SWD, but as a community we may have to wait because Disney is launching their own card game with Lorcana in August of this year(2023).
      The force is strong with Star Wars Destiny!
      Thanks for replying!

    1. Does claiming the battlefield at any time mean that you cant take anymore actions?

    • @FantasyFlightGames1
      @FantasyFlightGames1  Před 7 lety +5

      Hello. To answer your questions; 1. Yes, once a player has claimed the battlefield they are not longer allowed to take any actions for the remainder of the round. 2. Playing a card is an action, but since the Kylo player claimed the battlefield (which ends any actions he may take), the Ray player may take as many actions in a row as she wishes.

    FINALLY we get some Prequel / Sequel era content!!! I know they dabbled sequel stuff in X-wing to tie-in to the film, but when I play a Star Wars game, I want fun, thematic mashups like Darth Maul Vs. Kylo Ren! I can't believe it took so long and so many different games to get that. Of course the Original Trilogy is what we all fell in love with, but I'm so over "The Rebellion Era" monopolizing every game they create. Kudos to you FFG. I'm thinking of getting into this, but am noticing that there is now two types of booster packs and the Awakening ones seem to be in short supply/sold out in most places. Do the Spirit of Rebellion boosters contain all cards to date? Or just the new ones they added. If the two types have their own unique cards I don't want to end up wasting money on just one type.

    • @FantasyFlightGames1

    • @FantasyFlightGames1
      @FantasyFlightGames1  Před 7 lety +2

      Hello Grason. At the beginning of the game the battlefield is chosen by roll off. The player who's battlefield is chosen becomes the first play. That player, or the opposing player may "claim" the battlefield at any point during the round. When claimed, the player claiming may trigger the "claim effect" on the battlefield.
      Once a player "claims" they can take no other actions during the round while their opponent may take as many actions as they like.
      However, both players may pass and no one claims the battlefield. When that happens, the player who is in control of the battlefield will remain the first player, but since the battlefield was not "claimed", no claim effect will happen.
      Claiming the battlefield is how you become first player and get to start your actions first.

  • @BullwinkleJ
    @BullwinkleJ Před 6 lety

    At 13:20, when Player One plays Rey's Staff, she gets one more action. The narrator points out that she had no dice or cards to play, so she decides to pass. Why wouldn't she, at that point, reclaim the Battlefield?
    Am I missing something in the rules that wouldn't allow it?
    It seems to me, even if she didn't have a discarded card that worked, it would still be worth it to go first.
    Also, can you claim a Battlefield that you've already claimed? That's the only reason I can see for Player One passing.

    How could they think a TCG with so much token and dice actually work in long term, such a waste for one of the most wide univers, they could make a even better TCG than Pokemon in term of beautifull card and as good and Magic in term of gameplay.

    • @mtgrocks04
      @mtgrocks04 Před 7 lety +4

      The Radical I'm not sure, casual + ccg don't usually mix given the high costs. And in this case it's so similar to the lcg I don't see the appeal for this to a casual. I also don't see the appeal for competitive players since I don't know any competitive players of strategy games who would like more random luck involved in game play

    • @GeorgiosD90
      @GeorgiosD90 Před 7 lety +9

      The most successful board games are the ones, which reward you for using strategy to manage the luck factor in the game, in other words, do the best you can, with what you are given.
      A lot of people like that. Comparing it to other card games is not the only way to judge it.
      Just a thought!

    • @TheDiscusserOriginal
      @TheDiscusserOriginal Před 6 lety +3

      Actually, I find that luck based TCG games are a good thing. One of the main reasons why Yugioh is such a mess is because of the lack of luck and more of who has the better deck (which is usually the meta deck). Cardfight Vanguard used to be a good example (until the past 1-2 years of recent sets) where you could have a trial deck (a starting out deck that is premade around some specific card or card function) and still will against a deck that they may have paid at least 100$ on which means it was reallyfun to play because it didn't just mater if you ware a noob or a veteran.

    The differences in art quality is quite jarring. Some of the cards are painterly, others look as though they're touched-up photos, others look CGI. It looks very inconsistent. The die just look terrible; like something a child would use.

    I like this but I wish there was a star wars card game that was more like MTG. No dice, no tokens to use a card, just the cards and that's it. This has more of a board game feeling than a card game.

    • @TheYgeth
      @TheYgeth Před 7 lety +1

      Nope. I didn't trashed this game.
      I watched several presentations. It looks good for the casual player, however, CCG format eliminates this game because of the high costs for such a player.
      In the long run, it can be thousands of dollars.
      Collectors will be not interested in this game because of the simplicity and randomness of this title.
      @edit
      Each earlier card game from FFG was mechanically more interesting, and LCG.
