    Ever wondered why leveling spacer kits have a bad reputation? We broke it down and put one head to head against the ‪@thecarlisuspension‬ base leveling kit system. It's pretty clear from the parts alone that there's a difference, but on road it's hard to ignore! We did our best to walk you through the truthful differences in build and ride quality between these two options. While the leveling spacer price may be tempting, you pay the price with a rough ride on your Ram or Ford truck.

      @@PattyMelt-ln7rs Understanding that the dips etc are taken better. But how do you feel about being out on the highway at 60mph plus? Does the kit cause it to be more floaty and soft or is it tight and controlled? I feel like my 2021 Ram 2500 is floaty on the highway and reminds me of an old 1980 Lincoln!

      @@clintelawson Just my opinion on it but I’d describe it at soft and controlled, regardless of city/highway. Definitely not stiff like a sports car. But not floaty like an old vehicle suspension I’ve had my truck 80mph+ and still very stable. It’s a night and day difference (in a good way) from stock. My dad the same truck bone stock and I can’t stand to ride in his. 😎 only thing I wish I had was the sway bar, but that’s for another day.

    Honestly I couldn’t tell a difference in ride quality from stock to a spacer, both were equally bad. Both bottomed out terribly on all larger bumps. Terrible on speed bumps at any speed. However when I changed to a full level package, springs and shocks, there was definitely an improvement. Since switching I don’t think I have bottomed at all.

    What about higher speeds on the highway? Is the truck actually more stable? My Ram 2021 2500 is squirrely on the freeway. I would like it to have more of a tight sport ride. I know Carli is a superior suspension system, but to really show it being better, you need to keep the same wheels and tires and the same tire pressure. By changing the wheels and tires you drastically change the way a vehicle drives

  • @cmadk3423
    @cmadk3423 Před 4 lety

    How would a spacer change the spring rate and change the ride? I've been told I can fit a 35×12.5 on factory wheels on my stock 2018 2500 diesel with no lift. The problem I have with leveling kits is when towing or hauling heavy you get bro lean which looks terrible and can have negative and dangerous effects on handling.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 4 lety

      Think of it this way: a leveling spacer moves the axle farther away from the bump stops, but keeps the spring length the same. That means that for any given point in the travel, the spring is now more compressed. The more you compress a spring, the stiffer it gets. As for the geometry, the Carli leveling kits with a track bar completely preserve geometry with improved handling over stock. These kits are designed the right way.

      These trucks come from the factory with a forward rake where the front sits lower than the back. These systems lift the front of the truck so it’s the same height as the back. The Carli systems in particular also double suspension travel and improve the ride quality of the truck at the same time. A lot of other leveling kits (like spacers) are only for looks.

    How do these kits hold up to winter temperatures Northern Alberta Canada? I have a limited Ram Duel 3500 2020 and the roads up here are bad. The gravel roads are beat down wash boards. I have a 44ft toy hauler, this trailer does not need power. It has its own generator and fuel tanks, also another fuel tanks to fill up quads what ever. It ways 18000 dry pounds.. wet wait prolly 24000 wet, have 2 Harley’s. Trust me I’m as stupid as stupid when it comes to weight and height and what ever.right now it’s stock 17” tires. I’ve been to all the shops in my city, and I leave lost, and know one has carli. Up here there is one place 8 hours away. Said be 8 months before can get in.. and than what? Can I ask you a dumb question? If you were me was what would you get? Trust me I will get it..

      Happy to help! For your needs we'd recommend the Carli 3.25" Back Country system. Those shocks have more damping and reservoirs to help handle long wash boards. Those shocks use aluminum bodies too, so they work well with extreme conditions. If you don't mind sending us an email, we can work through your best setup! Sales@cjcoffroad.com

    What is a recommended tire psi setting for ram 2500 with 35x12.50x17. Im hearing/reading different tires different psi variations but in my case nitto ridge grapplers. I’m looking on forums and get mixed psi recommendations and tire shops just insist on factory setting even though not factory tires and way too high. I’ve been running 42 front and 40 rear. This was great video bought my truck used and has spacers and rides horrible going to pull the trigger on backcountry kit soon as I get some free time.

      Tire pressure will be different for every truck. The trick is to consult the manufacturer load inflation table for your specific tire size. Weigh your truck at each axle, then cross reference that weight with the air pressure recommended on the chart!

    My question is why would Ram make you do that in a 60,000 dollar truck? why do you have to contiually put money into a 60,000 dollar truck to make it right?

      We aren’t a fan of bolt in coil overs on these solid axle trucks. They severely limit suspension travel and aren’t properly tuned for the trucks.

    Why is a the leveling kit 3" can't stand a squatted truck why not a 1.5" or a 2"

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 4 lety

      The 14+ Ram Carli level is a 2.5” system that sits the truck perfectly level.

      @@CJCOffRoadthanks! I'm not sure what I need to get my truck has the off-road package which I thinks it's higher than factory but the person I bought the Truck from has a 2-inch spacer on it it's 2005 2500 5.9

  • @mgueths67

    The truck rides poorly because it is a Heavy Duty, you want a softer ride, get a 1500. When you start changes springs/shocks to make a softer ride, you lose GVWR. Now if you aren't towing or hauling a large capacity, then no problem, but don't do this if this is you tow vehicle. These vehicles were designed by the engineers to operate a certain way, you would be better off using a spacer to keep the original springs and operating performance. Yes, I know there are those of you that would disagree, but you can't argue with the engineers and the amount of $$$ spent in research building these trucks.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 3 lety

      This truck maintains complete factory weight capacity as the front springs have no relation to the truck’s ability to tow or haul. WIth this setup you get double the front suspension travel, improved ride quality on and off road, and can tow just like a factory truck as the rear coils are retained. Literally zero downside.

      @@CJCOffRoad that's not true. he said GVWR. you are changing the GVWR. your springs don't support my 9.5 xv2 plow because they are lighter springs. I had 1/4- 1/2 sag on stock springs with the plow on. with your srpings i had over a 1 1/4 sag!!!! it does change the GVWR. i needed a leveling kit to get a little more clearance under my plow and these were useless.. i was right back to factory height if not lower
