Damn, i leveled my truck first but didnt realize i was supposed to watch the vid first so i guess ill go take it off watch the vid then put it back on. Wish me luck
You always watch the video first Bill. Don’t be a goof.
Lmao!
When was the last time you were in a semi truck, my kenworth rides like a dream.
No... your air seat and air cab ride like a dream lol
You have made my mind up completely
Springs extended shocks for the front heavy duty sway bar
Great vid broken down to finally understand been waiting for this
I just bought the Bilstein B8 5162 leveling kit. Comes with new coils and shocks. Its a great improvement in ride
I did the supreme suspensions 2.5” leveling kit on my 2011 Silverado. It came with front spacers, and rear blocks. I put new rear shocks on the rear when i did it, dropped my sway bar, and have had 0 issues with it. My truck rides as well if not better than when I bought it.
Woe thanks for the video I'm in the process of leveling my ram 1500 but wasnt sure what to go with I literally was thinking of getting those pucks but now that I know a little more I think I'll go with the springs thanks bro saved my truck for real!!!
I leveled my ram and couldn't be happier
Thank you for all the information. You are quite knowledgeable. I was going to do the basic leveling kit. Not now. I’ll look at better options.
I have no clue who did the 2.5in level lift on my 16 2500 Cummins but it is under factory warranty thru Bill Luke Chrysler 120k powertrain 10 yr bumper to bumper. Looks great 20 in fuel rims also warrantied. Great video Jay. I do not think my ride quality is good atm so this video answers alot. I'm used to Ford suspensions and old 78 4x4 suburban I once had lol .
Thx I was thinking of adding a leveling kit 1" along with an airbag for when I tow with the ram. Maybe not.
I did Bilstein 5100's to level my Ram 1500, couldn't be happier!
+Bob Bauman good that's awesome
Same.
I did a 2'5 on my 13 ram 2wd and I'm looking for suggestions on shocks? Help me out!
did you find anything?? I'm looking at leveling my 2014 ram 1500 2wd but everything i find is for a 4wd
@@stephenzetts1839 same!!! Did you find anything?
Thanks for the video, you completely changed my mind set.
Argelio Silveira changed mind also
Con you tell me for the shocks springs and heavy duty sway bar a aprox price
I’m keeping my factory 20” rimes
I have a 3 inch spacer and all you need is a spacer for you cv joints and it will not effect your ride at all. 2 years later and still good.
Dang and to think i was about to level my new 17 f-150. Ill just save and buy the higher end 4" Good advice thanks bro.
Maybe I just got lucky... I installed one of those cheap $96 Daystar 2" spacers on the front to take the rake out had an alignment done and here it is 3 years and 33,000 miles later with no issues at all. My tires still look brand new and my truck still drives like nothing was ever done to it. I did it for appearance reasons and so I can slide under it easier for maintenance purposes. I'm sure if I went off roading with it I would have a different story to tell.
Great information. Any issues with 35s rubbing with just a leveling kit?
Thanks
Thanks for the video I was so close to just buying to basic leveling kit after seeing how cheap it was but now I’m definitely going with the coil leveling kit any advise for me I want to do 2.5 in level with not too big tires because I am also looking to put more power to it?
Hey, can you send me link for what brand you recommend. Also can you make me recommended list to properly level a 2018 Ram 2500 Cummins crew cab long bed. Note, truck came with tradesman245/65 r17 and I put on laremi stock 285/60 R20 from Craigslist from a same truck had upgrade. Do you think this has affect on my truck since it did not come with those tires and rims but is made for that truck in higher trim. I have hard time believing they made body different at factory. Your thoughts?
I just put big ko2’s on my 2016 Ram 1500 it looks sweet, I haven’t been off road yet with them. I also got a 2.5 inch rough country leveling kit and after watching this video I might not put it on. Any suggestions guys?
I have a 2014 Ram 2500HD Duramax 2wd has a 14inch lift with a 4 inch body 44x13.50R22 American Force wheels rides great does well in the mud and snow i had a 2008Ram 1500 4x4 megacab was really bad of road thats with 4x4 and i got it new had a 8 inch lift on 38x14.50R16 nittos mts
I agree man! That's why I went with a thuren fabrication 2.5" overland leveling kit for my RAM 3500.
+Cumminsworking17 It's a great system and a great truck 😜
No. A sway bar does not have a counteracting affect on the opposite wheel. A sway bar ("anti-sway bar") will keep the sprung weight on the same level plane as the unsprung weight. Thus, whenever one side wheel raises up, the opposite side will have a downward pulling force to attempt to keep the body from rolling over. The way it's described here, whenever you turn, the truck will attempt to lean even further into the turn, listing the sprung weight to the outside of the turn. That ". . . downward force on the opposite wheel. . ." is exactly what you DO NOT want, and is the reason for the stiffness of the OEM bar. The OEM Anti-sway bar is made to safely operate at the extremes, i.e. heaviest diesel engine, with maximum payload, pulling the maximum trailer weight, with application of brakes, at maximum turn angle, at a DOT extrapolated algorithm for maximum speeds for turns. That's why it's "too stiff" for many people; they're not trying to perform an accident avoidance maneuver while pulling a 31,000lb gooseneck. Any alteration compromises the truck's ability to perform at it's extremes. That being said, heck yeah I agree that my RAM anti-sway bay is too stiff, too. Also, "death wobble" comes from improper caster and Akerman angle. Loose componentry and/or improperly dampened steering and/or bending caused by high stress on steering pieces exacerbates the issue, but it doesn't cause it.
damn... srry
Luke Edward I'm trying to figure out what exactly causes death wobble on my 10 mega cab
I came here to point out the Sway bar snafu. I hate when people explain something wrong ....
What would you say for a Ram owner who is willing to replace faulty air suspension?
question I bought the bilstein 5100 for the front and back I was planing on setting the front to a 2 in ch lift in the front but do i need any other type of spacers in the back to raise the back up ? im a bit lost on it !!
Can you give me a parts list on the way you leveled your 2500. Going to do mine the right way . Thx
So I have a 09 Ford Escape xlt and I have looked everywhere for a 2inch level kit spacer above 50-60 dollars and only found the air kit for the rear only for 100 and up so I have no choice but to go with the 50-60 dollar kit
Hey bud help me out here, I'm looking to get the Rancho 2.5" quick lift strut assembly, would that be something you would recommend or would that also cause issues for me ?
Ordered the 2.5” leveling pucks and thinking of just putting a 4” rough country and be done.
So is there any good way (or good kits) to level an IFS truck, considering CV axles angles, tie rod angles, UCA angles, etc.? I have yet to hear of one. I've heard of some that have differential drop brackets, but the prices seemed really sketchy (around $100).
Explained some of the stuff incorrectly but the effort was made and that counts too, good job trying to explain as best you could not everyone can engineer and and play out in their mind how some things work
I don’t know bout you but my 06’ 3500 5.9l quad 4x4 came factory with 2 inch leveling spacers in the front! And to get rid of the wabble you need to upgrade to the t-track arm and the the y cause there is a ton of play in the pre 2009 y track bar setup along with the stabilizer so little bit more to it! The best you can afford is a great answer!
Thanks for the information!!
Changing every bulb to led was honestly the best thing i did 😂
if you buy the right one its a game changer
What are you running on this truck in the vid? Suspension and tires? Thanks
I leveled my 17’ Ram 3 months ago with the crappy spacers...I’ve not done an alignment yet and I’ve noticed when driving up to 120km/hr the front shakes..am i still in time to get the alignment or would i have to replace parts and eventually cost me a fortune ?
If you got a 2.5 spacer and a Bilstein 0-2.5inch shock wouldn’t that help with ride quality because the shock is no longer than stock? Didn’t hear you mention this..
great info thanks for the input
Ive always ran the cheap spacer...not happy with them either...but I'm buying a new truck now and after watching this i see your point for sure...but at the same time now I'm thinking damn...thats a lot of $$$ for 2-2.5 inches!!!! Lol I believe I'll just stay stock with a slightly bigger tire...love the leveled look but not worth all that $$ to me
If I only put a 2.5” lift, do I need to add anything else? Should I wait and do it properly?
I know the suspension components are different but do they sell a kit like this for a ram 1500? Or has anybody put together a kit like this for a 1500 ? I know the ram 1500 doesn't have a front solid axle so idk if a 2.5 inch spacer is good or does it need all the extra components.
The logo is right side up? I put some caril springs and try putting on and the logo up and they seem to be upside down
Thanks you for this video.
I have a 2014 ram 2500 powerstroke with a level kit with 29x3s on 48s and it rides great but when I turn it tries to flip because of the sway bar, which makes body roll even more according to you.😂
What do you recommend for a 2016 ram 1500 2wd? I just want to level the truck out but don’t want to sacrifice ride quality.
Any advice for a BDS 2inch coil over (2.5 dsc) leveling lift kit is it good enough or will I need a traction bar and sway bar new to this any tips I will appreciate it
I wish I would have watched this before I 2.5” spacer leveled my ‘19 3500 ram. It’s primarily a work truck. A lot of towing and plow it in the winter. I want a solid kit, front and back. I was looking at carli but thought 2-3k, yeah I can afford it but I don’t need all that extra s tuff. But here, thinking about what your saying, I may just go ahead and remove this steel 2.5” front kit, and lean towards a kit that does front and back from carli or the like. Spent $80 on the kit and like $200 to install. But I’m not so sure this is ideal for my use cases. Can you weigh in Jay?
Nice video I have a question for your expertise I have a 2017 ram 1500 big horn 4x4 5.7. I do a lot of highway driving and street commute only but the roads Massachusetts are treacherous for potholes I'm looking just to bring the front up to the rear (that's it )nothing crazy but I want to maintain the best factory ride tight steering no firm ridge ride .. can can you send me some links that would be helpful for components sway bar, shocks UCAs, tie rods etc that would help my ride any quality parts you know I want the best way I should level my truck money is not a issue I'll drop around 1500-2k but can't afford 2k a shock for kings lol thanks man .
this video is the bane of my existence
Great information thanks.
Where can I get all the suggested components ? How much for all?
Yes I agree. Never uses spacers. just save the cash for coil-overs or coils
So the best, basic and safest for something I don't drive a bunch is springs and shocks?
Ok thanks man have a good one
Great video thanks!
Thank you for sharing 💟
I have 2016 ram 1500.. I'm looking to level it with fox 2.0 coil overs and zone uca's. Would I be ok with this set up or should I upgrade some of the other components you mentioned? I would really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks
Have a 2017 ram 1500 what did you end up going with
So if I buy bilstein 5100 or 6112, extended strut, to level my rebel do I need anything else?
Hay man another great video can't wait to see what else you do but one quick question with those tires is your speedometer off or how about the final drive do you feel anything different
+Jorge Ramos No I went with a size that was close enough to factory spec so I didn't lose drivability. They are a Nitto Ridge Grappler 295x70R18 = 34.3"
So my truck already haas 1.5 inch spacers in the front but i'd like to raise it more to fit 10 wides. If i add 2 or 2.5 inch coil springs, what else would be suggested? New shocks? What else? Thanks
+KXRider027 What kind of truck?
This was all explained to me when I went to level the truck .. luckily after talking to the owner of the shop he convinced me into the tuff country 3in lift. It is inexpensive roughly $300. Comes with 3in spacers for the front. 1in for the rear coils. But this kit comes with s drop pitman arm and track bar relocation bracket. Problems solved hopefully will more than likely post a video
Can u put 35 tirea on an stock 2019 ram big Horn?
Hey Jay, been watching all your videos and ordered the Carli 2.5 level kit with track bar, sway bar, radius arms and steering stabilizer for a 2015 Ram 2500. Very excited to run all Carli and can't wait for the parts to get down here to Costa Rica. What size of rim and tire are you running? Why didn't you go with the Carli steering stabilizer?
+Michael White Congrats on the purchase! I have 18x9 wheels with a -12mm offset and 35" tires. I don't run a steering stabilizer because my truck runs straight and I don't need a stabilizer to compensate for a directional pull.
Jay Flat Out awesome, thanks for the reply and info - greatly appreciated and this build wouldn't have happened without your videos
@@JayFlatOut DUDE really!!! PLEASE learn about how parts actually work before you play keyboard warrior and spout a bunch of made up bull shit.... A steering stabilizer DOES NOT compensate for a directional pull!!!! It is there to dampen the forces from impact to one tire or the other from transferring directly to the steering wheel (basically stops the steering from being jerked out of your hands in an extreme scenario)... I realize this is a year ago but for EVERYONE who watches your vlogs sake DO SOME RESEARCH!!!
will the lift you suggested void the factory warranties?
Informative!!!! Thank u
Thank you I was going to buy the 2 1/2 spacers not now
Great explanations for a guy like me that has no idea.
Jay what's your thoughts on a smaller leveling spacer? Like 1.5 inches just to move the nose up a bit. I still want some rake on the truck and curious if the 1.5 would be as big an issue as the larger spacers
A smaller one won't have an as drastic effect as the oversized ones. Should be good but I would still suggest upgrading front shocks at least :)
Very informative, Thank you.
+Erick Pearson No problem bud thanks for watching.
Do you have a tint job? Ceramic?
Great information
I did a 2'5 level on 13 ram 1500 2wd and I'm looking for suggestions on shocks what did you guys use?
+Keith Martinez I have the Fox 2.0
Just bought a 2018 2500 big horn and planning to do the same thing,my question is this,if I level the truck with springs will the truck
Be level or will it sit a little lower in the rear like so many do with a leveling . Thank you in advance
If you get the full carli kit with the rear springs it will not, as you can see mine say a tiny bit lower in the rear because it was left on factory coils.
Jay question , I notice you were running 18’s with 35 inch tire. I have seen a lot of people running 20’s with 33 inch tire when doing a 2.5 leveling kit. Is there a advantage to one of the tire/wheel combo’s or just look preference (I’m interested in best ride quality?)
The more tire sidewall you have the better the ride. Meaning a smaller wheel with a larger tire. The tire will absorb more of the road feel than what I’ll call a “lower profile” tire.
I also chose my setup because it kept the speedometer calibration correct.
Amen for that I have 2011 Tacoma and I want t level my 3 int front and 2 ind the back will 285-70-17 kos2 yeah I need to save thank for being Oni
A lot of people hatin on here. Dude has spent the money and obvious time for the beat kit that he felt appropriate.
Great video bro. Keep em going.
He was probably sponsored... that being said, he is gonna push like hell to sell their stuff.
you live in the Las vegas valley? subscribed!
btw do you know any good shops that installs lift kits? planning to lift my f250
Yes I do! I always goto Ethan at Arrow Alignment on Decatur/Trop
ive got spacers, had them for 6 months, no problems, ride quality is the same too.
+Gregg Turner best of luck with those 😂😂
The Only truck that seem to be ok with lifting spacers up to 2 1/2 if the 04-14 F150s. My old Z71 I just cranked up my torsion bars. My 97 Explore I'm trying to get lower so thats a who other monster.
Want to do a minor lift on my 08 F150. 3 inch in front and inch in back. That will give it a good stance.
+Adam Lemus yeah that stance makes every truck look just right.
Damn you're smart. Stock it is until I need to upgrade
I've been running spacers on my 14' RAM 1500 for a year now and I'm hearing alot of subtle squeaks now. Kinda nervous on what ima find when I get my truck on a lift and start inspecting😓😓
+Roy Reyes Its not too late to switch to coils
@4:30 only if you have a solid axle
What leveling kit are you talking about bro, if you are talking about the one that just bolts on top of the strut assembly I can’t image the ride changing much. So I’m guessing you are talking about the compressed ones witch to me should stiffen the ride up front making it harder but I think the ones that bolts on top should be fine for a level look. So be more specific on what you are talking about.
Is there caster adjustment in the factory setup? Or do you need adjustable arms or replacement radius arm to restore caster? Mindful of when lifting Jeeps, anything over about 2.5" steers like it's on ice because the caster is way out. Only way to restore it is to use shitty drop brackets or put in adjustable (or long fixed length) control arms.
I got a .5 degree offset ball joint to achieve a perfect alignment
Jay Flat Out Thuren recommends a 0 degree Toe in; 4 caster. You want to be somewhere at those numbers.
So I am new to the leveling truck world. I want to do it the right way and get all the stuff your mentioning but I am having a hard time finding all of these components for Ram 1500. All I keep seing is 2500-3500. Could any of you give me a hand?
Here’s a link for the system for your truck. www.cjcoffroad.com/Carli-Dodge-Suspension-Ram-1500-4x4-s/2048.htm
The comuter 2.0 says it will lift the front 2” and the back 3/4”. Doesnt that defeat the purpose of a leveling kit?
Jay Flat Out can this system be "the end all be all" for leveling out the front? Or are other components required to insure proper functionality
What do you think about the rancho Quick Lift Struts with a new coil spring or should I get the Bilstein 5100’s ? Also should I get the shock absorbency to ?
+Steven Sposato I’d prefer the 5100 out of those 2
I did the Rancho 2" Quick lift on my truck, much cheaper that buying new springs and shocks and is ride-quality adjustable. I read up on the adjustable height Bilsteins and a lot of guys said the ride was harsh with limited travel.
Rancho. Got 2 inches of lift and a better ride /13 F150
Hey bud looking to buy the Rancho quick lift do they have a 2.5 "? And since you got them how do you like them are they still going strong or straight trash?
What can you say about a smaller 1.5" spacer for Ram 1500 4x4? I don't want my truck fully leveled for towing and hauling reasons but would like a small front lift as the rear is heavily raked (3-4" higher). Do you think being that it's a small spacer that it would have minimal impact on wear and tear items as well as ride quality?
+Cruz Allen The BEST Ram 1500 Leveling Kit | Installed at CJC Off Road | Jay Flat Out czcams.com/video/RyLRPDBFpQM/video.html
I like level not a big fan of the lifted setup they always ride super stiff. I'm doing a dirt king fabrications 4wd long travel kit.
+Nathaniel Mather This Carli setup is actually pretty smooth bud.
Nice truck bro
I basically have the same one
Ive got that shirt....lol "freedom isn't free" was my favorite shirt for a while, been through the ringer
I do what I wan on my own trucks 1500, 2500, 3500 dually Dodge Ram
If you do not have a solid axle what good is spacers? Is a spring level better for geometry ? Doesn't a heavy-duty spring make more sense , front and rear. Note keeping towing capacity and longjevity?
They are a progressive rate coil
The poly spacers are fine, had mine on my truck for quite awhile and haven't had a problem.
do u have LEDS inside the cab? I have a 15 ram 2500 and I was told you couldn't put leds in the map lights. also do you have leds in your headlights or fog lights?
Yeah I just got a set off amazon for in the cab. The fog lights are Rigid Industries Cube Lights.
how hard was it to install the bulbs in the map lights?
I couldn't agree more on the leveling spacers they suck. With my titan I did the king oem performance series shocks it's a fully adjustable coil over and it uses a remote reservoir then on the rear it's a piggy back set up. I removed my swaybar completely. The kings are awesome we do a lot of desert driving in yucca.
+Nathaniel Mather Is love kings just can't justify $2k for street driving haha
Jay Flat Out. Ya I do a good amount of playing in the desert. Mine were 1460 for the front and 750 for the rears but man I love them they are so smooth.
So I have a 2wd 2007 dodge 2500 and I want to level it with the back what is everything I should get to do this without messing up my truck at all
Exactly what I was wondering. Have you done it yet? Sounds like I should at least get longer shocks but I don't see a kit anywhere that that offers them or the longer coils.
The best way to do a leveling kit for your style suspension would be to change the spindles.... the same goes for lowering.... Ride quality stays the same, shocks stay the same, and alignment properties do not change.... something like this... cstsuspension.com/ram-2500/107-lift-spindle-kit-2003-2008-ram-2500-2wd-8-lug.html
My 96 ram 4x4 diesel. Has two in lift from spring spacer. Now how many years old? Zero problems works perfectly truck has gone off road half it's life.
Ive used the spacers in 6 trucks over the years never a problem stock ride.
I do hear you and agree with what you said. My problem is that, I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab. It is a half breed, and it is hard to find leveling and lift kits that will do what you explained in your video. If you have any suggestions, please let me know
+Dexter Russell what are you trying to achieve? And a 1500 mega cab?
Well I am trying to get a 3 inch leveling kit now and a 6 inch 4 inch or a 7 inch 4 inch luft kit later. But for now I just want yo level the front if my truck 3 inches. Yes it is a 1500 Mega Cab.
1500 Megacabs have 2500 suspension I do believe.
Your half ton has the same front springs as a 2500 with the 5.7 would have..... spacer or spring either way would work, depends on how much you want to spend. if you like your current ride go with spacers, if you want a modified ride there are many options for different rate springs just gotta do a little looking and calling around
Did you have to get the radius arms drop brackets?
Personally no I did not end up getting them
So I'm looking into getting air lite 1000 airbags to fit in my front end coils in my 2010 f350 4 door long bed terrible ride with the 6.4, for the purpose of the smoother ride for the dirt roads I always drive that really should be driven with like a small soft suspension vehicle, anyways my question is will gaining an inch or 2 from the inner coil air bags throw my geometry off? And if anyone has used these and knows any info that would be great can't find much info in full size truck use.
Why not get better shocks?
Marcus Young well the airbag kit I can get for under $100 and I would like to do shocks but have heard and watched the airbags in action on CZcams about how they really soften your ride if set to the right low poundage of air....I would like to do much more but the darn being brokenness ....lol
+JPhippsification I just put fox shocks on, they are about 60% smoother than the Bilstein 5100s but they are also $600 for the set
+JPhippsification I looked at airbags, and my buddy with a dually has them...says they only make a difference when towing really
Great fucken vid dude.
Either buying a 1500 or 2500 (can't decide... needs vs wants) and this helped A LOT!
+J. A. Glad it helped man thanks
