    I had terrible luck with the sway bar kits. First one was missing mounts and hardware so I got a second kit. The mounts were tight. Extremely tight. I tried dish soap on the bar first with no luck. Gave it a good coat of grease and still couldn't pound the bar through.
    If you run threaded rod into the bar, you can run it through a socket or washers and pipe. Spin on a nut then tighten it to push the mount on. No paint or metal damage plus it doesn't kill the bushing.

    What would have been a good test indicator on the amount of bounce/jolt encountered while going through the bumps is to temporarily tape a bottle of water on the center of the dash quarter filled with colored water. The severity of the bounce will be shown by how violent the water gets sloshed around the bottle. Not fully scientific but close enough for government work ;-)

The body roll isnt too bad and it rides nicely on whooped out sandy trails. though know one i talk to really knows this field of knowledge. im sure a carli sway bar would make my truck much better on the road and possibly the highway but is no sway bar better than a carli sway bar in off road situations like extremely rock or whooped out roads

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 4 lety

      The Carli sway bar is essentially the best of both worlds. It flexes like no sway bar, but controls high speed body roll really well. For testing purposes we’ve run all of our shop trucks with no sway bar, but the Carli TSB just adds that little extra bit on confidence in high speed situations without taking away from the ride anywhere else.

  • @davidbrick626
    @davidbrick626 Před 4 měsíci

    Great video. Nice to see the on-road comparison of ride before and after. I can't honestly say I could see a huge improvement in the sway, but I could definitely see some, even in the exterior shots.
    I have to say that this result is contrary to what I would expect. It would seem that stiffer spring rate should result in less roll rather than more. Perhaps the less stiff spring rate helps absorb more roll in the initial reaction to the uneven surface and not 'throw' the front to the opposite side, following the initial roll, as violently as the stock bar with the stiffer spring rate does.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 4 měsíci

      Basically what's happening is a stiff sway bar doesn't allow the one side of the axle to travel up independently of the other. As a result, hitting a one sided bump pushes the suspension up, encounters the stiff sway bar, and then transfers that energy directly to the cab throwing you side to side. With a softer rate sway bar, that one sided hit pushes up, deflects the sway bar spring rate, and allows the suspension to move without the energy being transferred to the cab. The stiffer the bar, the more it transfers a one sided impact to the truck. Picking that perfect spring rate for the bar is a very delicate balance though since it can't be so soft that it allows the truck to wallow and lean on corners, which is where the truck body weight itself influences the suspension.

      Sadly as of the 2020 model year, the Olive Green paint and night edition are not something you can order together. We tried and tried! The up front cost of the night edition parts is around 3k, but keep in mind once you sell your stock parts, you’re only out whatever the difference is. In our case it only ended up costing a few hundred dollars in the end.

    How does the Carli compare to the thuren sway bar? I currently have the Carli back country with 2.0 reservoirs with a thuren sway bar

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 4 měsíci

      Both brands actually use an identical spring rate for the center torsion bar, so ride in the cab is completely identical. Carli's sway bar does use higher quality steel, frame brackets, bushings and end links, but that also comes along with a higher price tag. If bang for your buck is the goal, go with the Thuren sway bar as it offers the same ride for less money. If you want the best possible materials and build, then go Carli as they do take the win in that category.

If someone can respond to sway me please do. Otherwise I’ll be looking for a 5.9L 3rd gen or maybe a young 4th gen with the non emissions 6.7L Cummins. These new 19+ trucks don’t have the issues that the older ones do. They get great fuel economy, and the emissions system is something you never have to think about until the DEF needs to be filled up. All of our trucks back to 2015 run factory emissions and they work great.

Like under real abuse. 30mile lease roads, sandy, rocky ROWS, hauling 39ft goose necks, etc. like I said real day to day use and abuse. Yall suspension seems legit but before spending a weeks pay I'd like to see it handle what we throw at these trucks on the oil patch.
