      There are actually hundreds of games doing this cross promotional nonsense. I'm pretty sure Killing Floor had something like that going on for it too, either free Chivalry promotion of sorts, or a character. I don't remember exactly. In fact, a lot of games have limited time cosmetics that are related to other games you must own. Rising Storm 1, Shadow Warrior (I think, again this was a Chivalry's character), PayDay 2 (you've guessed it, they collaborated with a handful of games for special DLC actually, including again Chivalry).

    I am now playing Total War Warhammer from day one.
    The truth is that the game is an eternal construction site.
    As soon as one faction is revised, the other factions have to be improved.
    In 2020 the greenskins will finally be revised and the elves adjusted a bit because it will be a double DLC again.
    Chaos will also be adjusted slightly, especially since the third part slowly rolls towards us and there the chaos is safely split into four sub-fractions.
    Demons of the four dark gods, undivided chaos, chaos worshipers and surely the beastmen.
    The following fractions are not yet finished and are therefore somewhat restricted.
    Greenskins, wood elves, beastmen.
    Also, as with all Total War's, the unwritten law is, "Mods are almost always mandatory for a perfect game feeling."

    • @KirKanos01
      @KirKanos01 Před 4 lety +3

      @SmashStomp Inc Where did I say what's bad that the game keeps getting edited?
      New players must be informed that the game will be updated again and again until Total War Warhammer 3 comes out.
      This is especially important for players who like to use mods often.
      Furthermore, you have to say that the tournament scene in Warhammer is absolutely vanilla, except for a separate scene for SFO.
      Needless to say, if you want to play online, it's best not to use mods.
      It is updated again and again as far as the game is concerned, but as soon as you have been around for a long time, you will unfortunately also notice that the game itself lags somewhat behind its possibilities, even now.
      So it's very good that the modder scene is so big for Total War.

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 Před 4 lety +1

      "Mods are mandatory" is definitely not a positive, it's the same exact skyrim disease: the comunity fix and add content for free. As for the other things you mentioned, the game adds overexpensive DLCs (reskins) all the time. Things that should be there at release, like the weaponry from the skaven. At launch, the skaven was nothing more than a army of goblins with some artillery. The 3 elven factions are nothing more than reskins between themselves. Only the lizardmen felt like a different faction compared to the original game. No tomb kings, instead random vampires. For me, all of these things are inexcusable. And even more inexcusable was the fact I played the pirated version at release, but considering the obnoxious amount of DLCs and the slow work on new crack (because this game is not mainstream), I was forced to buy it to keep playing it. Ok, I had my good times with this game, my favorite killing time hobby... But the issues, how CA slap us in the face with their anti-consumer practices, etc... I learned my lesson. Only bought things related with the dark elves and skaven, my two favorites, on promotions. And Warhammer 3? Fuck it, I will not buy it at release. Most likely I will just try the pirated version and then be done with this franchise. CA is too greedy and lazy, they don't deserve our money.

      His start is hard because Lustria is packed with LL, esp. on Vortex. (Khalida and Ikit start in Lustria too there.) Can't stand the vortex campaign myself. I still want to see more customisable options for campaigns, like removing the race for the vortex upgrade shenanigans which allowed huge armies to magically teleport to a region you had few troops in.
      Real shame, the map is different and it obviously plays differently, but I don't see why we can't just have a simple "conquer all the things" objective instead of the vortex nonsense.

    Great video, thank you very much for all the insights. Only coming to WH 2 all these years later and I’m blown away by how good it is. Huge amount of diversity and depth…kinda boggles the mind actually.
    The game has subverted my expectations on a lot of levels, but primarily with the world map POV. I Honestly thought I’d be spending most of my time fighting battles and just using the world map as a reference point as to where to go to initiate the next battle…now that I’m playing it, I realise how “optional” fighting battles actually is and that most of my strategising takes place on that beautiful looking map.
    The races play SO differently to each other, the asymmetry is astounding. And the differential in the tech trees and unit abilities is really impressive. I’d imagine you could comfortably sink 100 hours into becoming proficient in each race….that’s a LOT of bang for buck.
    This is a game I confidently know I’ll be playing for years to come…that’s rare, and really satisfying.

    I feel like the Chaos warriors, beastmen and Wood elves are now the Most underwhelming factions to play as. I really hope to see some really big reworks there in Future.
    (Also i still hope to See some more Units and legendary lords get added to the rooster of the beastmen, there army rooster is so small, "where are those Ghorghons", and even the Wood elves could need a new legendary lord with 1-2 new Units.)

  • @SusaVile
    @SusaVile Před 4 lety +1

    Good review.! Regarding the chaos issue, as well as the good factions getting huge issue, it is largely due to a couple of points:
    - easy diplomacy friendliness between Empire/dwarves/brettonia.
    - condederation.
    Mostly, factions tend to ally with powerful ones. Now, both these three races have lots of confederation choices. Other "evil" factions do not. So, in essence, one of these will get large, confederate, and then it starts a rollercoaster of alliances/confederacies that is simply not fun.
    Hence, I do recommend a simple mod to disable confederations. And suddenly it is quite a wonderful game

    Hey man first off Merry Christmas and thanks for the video I have a question I am fairly new to the game and would like to jump in the Mortal Empires however I'm concerned about how long each campaign will take as I do want to explore all Races. How many turns can I expect a short Victory to last? Or am I better off playing each individual Race For example the wood elves in Warhammer 1?

    As a small advice on the DLC part, if you want to play Skaven, I highly recommend the "Prophet and the Warlock" DLC. It gives access to clan Skryre (Ikkit Claw faction) and the best units the skaven have to offer. Snikch is a fun lord to play, but he doesn't bring that many interesting units. Ikkit brings Jezzails (snipers units, very good at picking heroes and lords), Ratling Guns (mid-range, mass infantry killers) and Doomflayers (anti-infantry motocross units) which are all basically a must-have in your army.
    Also, nukes.
    Others skaven lords besides Snikch are pretty meh. They are my absolute favourite faction to play however. A bit on the fragile side but have a lot of quirkiness that makes them fun, requires some micromanagement to play effectively, and got some of the most hilarious units in the game.

    Some of the lords from post Vampire Coast DLC (these DLC usually feature 2 lords which have a personal vendetta against each other) actually has their own unique mechanics tailored to them in addition to the new units, which really spices up the game:
    Ikit Claw: his pack brought to the Skavens the Rattling guns (the Gatling guns units) Warplock Jezzails (sniper rats) and the doomflayers (armor can opener). He also has (as a Lord specific mechanic) a workshop which upgrade these units (and few other), did I mention you can build a nuclear missile in it and use it in battle?
    Sniktch: the only lord in game which can delete a faction with the press of a button (for those who like espionage, sabotage and assassinations). He also brought a couple of new units which can be buffed by Ikit's workshop (the mortars for example).
    Allariel: she has a unique mechanic which empowers her when Ulthuan is entirely in high Elves' hands, she can actually recruit some Wood Elves units, her DLC brought with her the sisters of Avelorn (a really good unit) and another few units for the High Elves.
    Hellebron: the other side of Allariel DLC, has a unique mechanic based in lore and brought a couple of new units for the dark Eleves.
    Tehenuin: the other side of Ikit's DLC, brought few units for the Lizardmen (including a Stegadon with what I can call an Ion Cannon orbital strike, and Salamanders) and has a Sacrifice mechanic to boost his units (mainly Skinks).
    Nakai and Wulfhart have their their own "conquesidators vs Atzec" thing going on.
    Malus has Tz'arkan and so on...
    My personal favorite is Ikit Claw, especially because I like his "more dakka" mentality and the upgrades (and I'm not the only one apparently).
    The skavens also got Undercity mechanic which is quite fun to use.
    BTW: Tiktaq'to is a FLC lord which was released alongside Ikit's and Tehenuin's DLC, I'm pretty sure Lord Kroak also came as a FLC with him.

A major faction on the old world map, the wood elves, are also locked behind a DLC. Fucking Chaos is a DLC, lol arguably the most important faction in the whole game. It's like if you have a world war 2 game and the axis was locked behind a DLC, not even Paradox does that. Tomb Kings, just like wood elves, also locked, etc... CA and Paradox are both disgusting companies. Paradox is even more greedy, but you can't simply turn a blind eye for CA. They sell fucking blood effects mate, there's no DLC concept in this industry that is more insulting than this.

    There is also "mod" called "SFO: Grimhammer 2" which is what WH2 should be Lore-wise. EVERY faction gets its own unique mechanics, buildings, skill trees, research and much more... Stats+abilities+unit traits are totally reworked and another warpton of units added which leads to very interesting, diverse and situational army compositions. SFO really adds depth to the game.
