The people calling her incompetent are not too bright themselves, what do you really expect? One thing that is important to learn is not everyone's opinion is valid, and you just move on and let them sit there and struggle with being themselves for the rest of their lives. I'm not big on politics in general for the nasty game that it is, but I really wouldn't call a lot of elected officials incompetent. Racist? Sure. Selfish? Sure. Money and power hungry? Absolutely. Mental Ill? I could name a few names. But I wouldn't say any of them are incompetent. AOC you are so right about the need for grace. I don't know how to talk to my sister and brother -in-Law, who have become total Trumpsters. It really sucks. I haven't spoken to them in almost 3 years. It really causes me pain to be around them, but so does not talking to them at all.
Oddly, I’ve recently hooked up from a friend from high school who was a Trump voter and I actually find him easier and more comfortable to talk to than the average MSNBC viewer. At least we agree that: 1) Never ending war is awful and we have a military industrial complex dedicated to keeping it up 2) Having corporate trade deals that sell out workers and American sovereignty to corporations is awful 3) An intelligence and tech stranglehold over the citizenry is wrong- etc etc at least we agree that we’re getting screwed and for the most part we agree on who we’re getting screwed by (Oligarchy). Even on immigration we agree that oppressed immigrants are being cynically used by the 1% to shore up their profits while sowing tribal divides amongst the 99%. The only thing, that we really disagreed on, the disagreement that causes all others- is a belief about whether or not solidarity is possible. Progressives fundamentally say yes. He fundamentally says no. I say Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany are places where policies pushed by Socialists succeeded- he says they succeeded because of racial monogamy. But we got to meet people where they’re at; and there is a great chance he will vote Bernie or Tulsi > Trump, but no chance at all that he would vote Kamala, Biden, Buttigieg or even Warren- a candidate who fundamentally belongs to the Democrats, and therefore to the Oligarchs.

Not only has my whole family fallen for Trump, but the entire community where I grew up in Appalachia has fallen to this mess, and these are people I love and care about. We should feel the grief and step by step keep doing the work to heal all of us on both sides. I will never give up on those that I love, Never! Even if I fear they have given up on themselves and on America. I start by trying to understand why they believe in Trump, and that is where the healing starts. We can afford to listen to any side without fear of self comprise. I loved Hilary even though she was far more conservative than I am, but she had a brilliance with rolling up her sleeves and making a policy work. If a more conservative person says something good for the world, let’s say so because it is better for the world when centrist get good feedback for a good idea. We don’t have to see that as a cave in. If it is a bad idea, we should call that too. Until now I wasn’t sure how I felt about AOC, and was really curious to watch this interview and get to know her better. After watching all of it, I can officially say I’m an AOC supporter. She actually stands for something and is willing to say what she believes in. She does a great job narrating the political climate in America today.

I think you're misquoting her. She was saying Dems should try to communicate feelings more than facts because, even if people won't admit it, they tend to vote with their gut. She was endorsing this as an effective communicating tool, not as a general statement of "preferring" feelings over facts, and certainly *not* saying feelings are *more* true than facts.

I've found myself returning to this pod & her earlier appearance with Lovett a number of times this year lol. Her insights, even back in 2018-2019 are so spot on when juxtaposed to where we are as a country today. Her comments on Manchin being the chair of Energy & Commerce in the Senate & the challenges that'd produce were so accurate given where we are today with BBB failing. Her concerns about how the Democratic party doesn't know how to evangelize its Democratic worldview in deference to GOP talking points and narratives are also spot on. We risk losing our country to an even stronger/more sly authoritarian force because of the Biden's administrations reverence for Bipartisanship and working with the GOP. In short, I love this congresswoman. She is wise beyond her years and I hope she runs for higher office ASAP.

We used to have free state college and then affordable state college. I just got my youngest through a few years ago. How things have changed!
Not all state colleges were free. Some were. It was decided state by state, not on a federal level. Most free colleges were for in state residents. However, college was still affordable until colleges got greedy due to Federal government intervention. Colleges noticed that the federal government would grant students loans. Now students had access to more money and colleges took notice. The problem isn't regulation on paying the colleges so kids can go to school but decrease loans available and cap tuition cost. At least, cap the cost on state colleges. You should be able to pay your tuition without taking large loans. It's kind of like people only going after insurance companies. No, the hospitals are the problem. They create the original cost. You can go to the emergency room and get a bill for each of the following: ambulance bill, the hospital, the doctor, room, each doctor on staff (even if you never see them). So you can end up with 10 different Bill's, and another problem is they can send you a bill a year later.

So, I am a Warren guy all the way and I remember when everyone attacked her for not backing Bernie. I like Bernie a lot and I respect him for how he has changed the conversation, but others should back him or not based on their own reasons, and if others do back him and he beats Warren, he will make an excellent president, but I believe in Warren, and I think it is her job to convince Dems everywhere to back her, and hers alone.
