- Without question one of the swans all time great wins vs the Port Adelaide Power back in the 2003 AFL Qualifying Final.
Port Power were hot favourites going into the game after winning the minor premiership, finishing at the top of the ladder for season 2003.
The swans dominated play for the first three quarters until a spirited fightback by Port saw the swans efforts come undone. The swans, injury depleted, held on for a famous victory.

The tall goal umpire in this match was Ante Perkovic. He was emergency goal umpire for the grand final on two occastions. Unfortunately, he was involved in a terrible car accident on his way to a game and now lives his life has a quadroplegic, very sad
The Maxfield goal at the 3:30 mark is still my favourite goal.

Interestingly both preliminary final losers in 2003. These teams would win the next 2 premierships in 2004 and 2005.
Sydney swans became a very competitive unit under Paul Roos, a trait that has been carried forward to this day under John Longmire.

@@thesupplantor Absolutely, there’s a reason why I said that it still holds up true. But, nonetheless, I’m hoping that the Swans establish some consistency heading into the 2nd Half of the season as it can help push for Finals this season. I’ve also been impressed by the Young Players, definitely a lot to be confident about for the Future from watching players like Gulden, Campbell, Warner, McDonald, and Numerous others.

I was at this great game and all I can say is that Port Adelaide supporters are the very very worst I have ever come across. Great video!! We were written off before the game what a victory. Goo..........Swans
I would love to see this happen again if we finish 4th in 2022 and we face the Cats.
We proved more than enough in the Qualifying Final considering most tipped us for the spoon.

@ellismedia Honestly, I added them because it gives a true sense of what the game was like. I cannot stand it when I see a video full of one teams highlights only. To me, it's boring. Just my opinion anyway.
