    This sport originated in Melbourne Australia about 150yrs ago we are very proud of it and how it is now starting to be played overseas ;its a great game to play and we hope that other nations will embrace its fast pace and skill hopefully more players like Pyke of Canada (a rugby Intl) and the Irish boys will add to its international appeal

    We're incredibly proud of this sport and consequently love to share it with the world and anyone who show's a genuine interest in it. However due to this passion anyone who insults it will not be patted on the back and thanked for their opinion. We don't hate Americans, we hate Americans who criticise a sport they know nothing about.

    Moments like that Mattner vs. Birchall contest on the wing along with I think it was Richards and Embley running after that loose ball in the 2006 GF are what defines an amazing athletic game.

  • @TasmanProductions
    @TasmanProductions Před 12 lety

    Goodes completely tore his PCL. Richards played on Buddy injured, Mumford played with a sore hamstring and struggled, Bolton played with half his ACL torn, Pyke - who used to be a Canadian rugby international, plays his best game in an AFL Grand Final after being written off by commentators... and of course, McVeigh, after all the pain of missing 2005, playing in the 2006 loss and losing his beautiful daughter last year, becomes a premiership captain...
    I'm a Melbourne fan and I love this game.

    A teacher asks her class, "What is your own opinion on food scarcity in other countries?"
    The American student responds, "What are other countries?"
    The African student responds, "What is food?"
    The European student responds, "What is scarcity?"
    The Chinese student responds, "What is my own opinion?"

  • @steadyblingin2002
    @steadyblingin2002 Před 12 lety

    There's obviously a bit more to it but if you keep those few things in mind you can follow a game reasonably well. It's definitely simpler than the NFL.

  • @steadyblingin2002
    @steadyblingin2002 Před 12 lety

    It does look completely chaotic to the uninitiated, especially if you're used to the NFL. Simplified rules for other Americans: the object is to kick the ball through the posts at the ends of the field; 6 points if it goes through the two middle posts; 1 if it goes between one of the middle posts and one of the side posts. You can't throw the ball but you can punch it out of your hand or kick it. Catch a kicked ball in the air, you get a free kick.

    My point is that not one American had posted an insulting comment in regards to this video at the time, yet several Australians were tearing into them like they had.
    If Americans have since left insulting comments, then I'm not surprised.

  • @TheHazcam
    @TheHazcam Před 12 lety

    We were up by 27 points early in the 3rd. Kennedy's snap hits the post which would've made it 33 points. Hawks come back and in a 40 point turn around lead by 12.
    At this stage im sitting there about to cry. Didn't even get up out of my seat when we kicked 2 to level the scores.
    But Nick Malceski, you little beauty. A 2012 version of a Nick Davis miracle snap. Was up out of my seat, hugged strangers, shed a tear and partied all night at the ground and in Crown.

    The swans leave that there as a tribute for their previous name / location which was of course the south melbourne football club. The same has been done for western melbourne (FFC, Footsgray football club) and brisbane (BBFFC , Brisbane Bears Fitzroy Football Club).

    No I don't think the transition would be too difficult. In fact, number 38 for Sydney is Mike Pyke, who used to be a pro Rugby player in Canada. The only big difference is the pace of the game. By the way, this isn't Australian rugby, it's Australian football (we Australians get a little annoyed when it's mistaken for rugby, but it's no biggie). Have a good one mate

  • @MrBeefseven
    @MrBeefseven Před 12 lety +1

    Here's my logic. In both 1971 and 2008, Hawks won with relatively young teams. Both of the following years, they didn't make the finals. Both these teams returned to finals with early exits in 1973 and 2010. In 1974 and 2011, both teams lost a close prelim. In 1975 and 2012, Hawthorn lost the granny. In 1976, Hawthorn won. Greatness beckons. The hawks will be back stronger than ever in 2013.

    How? Explain. If you're referring to the Sam Mitchell 50 metre penalty given to Jarryd McVeigh, in any other game it would have been a 50 metre penalty, so why not the weekend, because it was a Grand Final. Sydney virtually had to win a lottery to get a free kick on Saturday.
