- *WATCH IN HD* This is the lead up to Nick Davis' famous GOAL, about 2 minutes before and after celebrations. An amazing match at the SCG between the Sydney Swans and Geelong Cats in the 2005 Semi Final.
I miss channel ten footy... that scoreboard looked wonderful.
I can watch this over, and over, and over again, and each time get the same level of excitment as if I'm watching it for the first time! Simply amazing. Nick Davis - He certainly came to save us!
Come up from Melbourne to watch the mighty Swannies, at 3/4 time I thought I’d wasted my money… then along came Nick Davis. What a quarter, what a game!
Hands down one of the greatest sporting moments of my life! This game will live large in my memory until I die. This whole finals series ending in a Swans premiership was just epic!
I just love the expression on every face in the crowd. So heartwarming to see the joy, especially in the older ones who had not seen them win a premiership in their lives! Amazing
I get goosebumps, every time I watch this, the most amazing night of my life. The game and the atmosphere was AMAZING
In 50 years, we will look back on this as one of the most iconic commentary moments of all time.
It’s been 19 years so far and I think it’s safe to say that this moment will live forever in the annals of football history. Everybody remembers this game and Nick’s 4 last qtr goals.
i remember this game, me a dad watching this in despair thinkinh we lost this match till we heard nick davis name and when he kicked it we were on our feet cheering
1.05 "wheres nick davis" yeh dont worry mate hes coming !!
I'm a Lions fan but this has to be one of the great Australian sporting moments
I'm American and barely understand what the hell is going on but this gives me chills and tears of joy just hearing the crowd. What a moment.
now i realize how nice it is to see red and white colours in football. i go for collingwood and i love black and white, but that red is astonishing....
I don't barrack for Sydney but they produced 2 super special efforts in 2005 - fighting out games to the final siren. The individual efforts of Nick Davis in the semi final, and Leo Barry's mark in the grand final.. still gives me goosebumps!!!!
I just got goosebumps and chills watching this Moment What a Phenomenal Match And That was a Classic
7 years, 3 Premierships, 4 Grand Finals, 6 Finals Series, and the greatest 5 year period in the history of the Sport later, and this still breaks my heart.
I'm a passionate West Coast Eagles fan, but even watching this gives me chills to the bone. Amazing.
This is why Australian Rules is one of the greatest sports ever.
I've supported Geelong for 15 years now, but THIS has to be the most heartbreaking moment I've ever experienced as a supporter. This hurt more than losing the 2008 Grand Final.
makes it even more amazing that the swans went on to win the grand final that year... that one kick from nick davis changed so much.... im a passionate collingwood fan but that was just too good to not be one of the best things ive ever seen in AFL
Most exciting moment in AFL history. from a richmond supporter
Taking nothing away from Swannies gutsy effort as per usual and Nick Davis absolute stunning performance, Cats kicked themselves out of this one due to few costly errors especially Stevie J's slack effort to prevent ball getting back into the play. Saying that, Swannies have been Cats biatches in recent years.
The good thing about all of that is the Umpires did the right thing, put the whistle away and let them play footy. And only stopped it when it was obvious they had to. Good work.
me too nick davis did save us, but none more so than Leo Barry will never forget that game
This was the game that got me into the AFL. I support the Crows though.
No, I got into the real football about 2 years after this.
Absolutely amazing! Still get shivers!
1:05 "Where's Nick Davis"
2:35 There he is..
3:04 "WOOHOO!!" says the runner at the top right corner.
It inspired them to a premiership. And poor old Geelong had a miserable 2006 season because of this loss. It took Geelong 2 years to recover but it has taken many other sides like Adelaide, Collingwood and the Bulldogs much longer to recover.
Puts goosebumps on me every time i watch it !!!
Holy shiet.. i Don't even barack for sydney but damn that gave me goosebumps! thats a really amazing goal .. something to remember forever
When he kicked that goal the place went berserk. Poor old Geelong, luckily they would recover and win 3 premierships in the upcoming years.
im so glad 10 don't have the footy anymore just because i can't bear the 5 min warning and not knowing how long left in close games
And 2 years later ....... I thought Geelong would never recover from this back then.
Im getting goosebumps
i see it but int beleive it bloody classic
Sometimes it's good theatre. Just like being at the game.
Any day Geelong gets beat is a good day for me........ no matter who beats them!
2012 Sydney Swans club was great, but 2005 was more memorable by the way that Swans side made it to the 2005 AFL Grand Final and winning it all.
thats one freakin good goal
NRL will never beat 2:30
Cats wouldn’t have done what they did yrs later without losing this !!!
lol at 2:04 "awwww, how's that?!"
I Personally hate the swans.... but this is one of the greatest moments in afl history
How about the contrast in emotions from 3:35 - 3:39
1:22 what's with Jimmy Bartel's head? hahahahah
Zaharakis bought me here
gonna miss channel 10 commentating...
Sokkah and football are the same things buddy. :)
why did they water the ground before the game!!!
cool
Lol at 2:39 the guy behind the goals goes to jump then fence but bitches out
2:28 rinse and repeat :)
No it's not. Why are they controlling the ball with their hands? :/
The term soccer was used before football.
Go the blues
from 2:27 is history
2:53 when all else fails, pretend you're barracking for the other team!
Nicks actually my second cousin only related to him through marriage though so doesn't really count
u just said "footy club" ,which means AFL is called football
@subymy98 Except for 2011!!
this loss made geelong.
daresay the result gave Geelong the kick up the bum to dominate a few years later
1:46 to 2:14 some of the most desperate football ive ever seen!
What a win for the AFL's pet team
What do you find entertaining? Basketball? Criket?
I dnt believe it!! I see it but I dont believe it!!
i was wondering about that.
"Minutes before Nick Davis' goal." That sounded sinister so I came here expecting something exciting. Leaving disappointed.
Discrimination then, your comment tells me you knew what I meant so why bother with the pedantics?
That my friends is why NRL sucks....that bogan sport has no place in Australia.......AFL players are the true role models for Aussie kids, not the bogans who are paid to flick a ball either to their left or right in rugby league......
Okay, whatever. Stop replying to my stuff. kthxbai
Lol, only 7 countries refer to it as 'soccer', out of 200+ - and in those 7 countries, a lot of people still call it 'football'.
I actually won the argument, come back when Aussie rules is as big as the sport that is 'sokkah'. Nice try though, cry baby!
I'll have to wait a long time until you can come back and compare sports though, but when it does (in your imagination), you can finally start a decent argument. Aussie rules does not come close to the world game, it never will. Get over it.
Only Australians would find this sport entertaining...
Bring your racism somewhere else please.
lol Adelaide United are probably the most irrelevant sporting team in the world, to go along with the most irrelevant league in the world. dont care if you watch the premier league but its hilarious that you think soccer will ever succeed in australia. AFL will always be the biggest sport in Australia so of course it gets the media coverage duhhhhhhhhhhhhh
