- Remember this 2005 Semi Final at the SCG.....Nick Davis' 4 final quarter goals for Sydney against Geelong and includes one famous quote, "I see it, but I don't believe it!" by Anthony "Huddo" Hudson.
Every time I watch this, and the Leo Barry mark in the Grand Final, it just seems that Sydney we're meant to win it. Not in a rigged, shady way. More in a fate kinda way. Everything went right and they won it. As a Collingwood fan I can say that the 2005 finals season was one of the best ever.
unless your a cats supporter and don't get chills whats wrong with you one of the greatest moments
I think even cats supporters should be humbled by this, I mean when you know ultimately it allowed the Swans to break a 72 year premiership drought, in one of the most thrilling grand finals ever, and the cats won one a few years later anyway, I mean, this is bigger than a flag. The whole swans story that year is just a spectacular legacy. I also dislike WCE supporters who try and claim a free kick should have gone their way in the grandfinal for the same reason
BIGDAZR Don't worry, we still get chills.... Its just tempered by despair
As a Port fan and and a fan of AFL this was one of the most amazing individual moments and will always be remembered
Im a wce fan but this is just off the fucking rails! Greatest solo effort I've ever seen. 4 Last quarter goals when his whole team kicked 3 for the first 3 quarters and also the game winner with seconds left at Sydneys home ground... Every 6 months or so i watch this its just too fucking crazy not too. How bout the supporter sign ''Nick Davis come 2 Savis''. GTFO
Josh Mason yeah man the sign....I mean what are the chances lol
I'm a Geelong supporter and remember watching the game at home. What a fucking game it was and will never forget this game. Best footy match Iv watched and nick Davis to come with 4 unanswered goals in the last quarter is fucking off the rails
Easier to watch now with a bag of Premierships from your guys as well I suspect?
4 goals in a quarter ANY quarter of ANY game is remarkable, but 4 goals in the FOURTH quarter of an elimination final by a guy who kicked (according to commentator) 19-8 on the season, AND it's a low scoring game!! Bloody hell....
im a collingwood supporter yet this is still one of my favorite football moments ever... especially knowing this INCREDIBLE win lead them to end up winning the grand final... just remarkable, nick davis what a legend
I was shattered when Nick Davis left the pies.
the magnitude of this is amazing, even more so when you remember that this effort allowed Sydney to go onto win their first flag in decades. One of the greatest moments in AFL history
Malcolm Blights first words in this video "...they're not going to do it this way .. they've got to do something radical.." Phophetic
@MANCHESTER UNITED 2005 was a big year for Australian Rules Football in NSW. The Sydney Swans won their first premiership in 72 years. 1 million people from Sydney tuned in to watch the Grand Final that year, and it was also the most watched AFL Grand Final in history. Just shows that the NRL states are very quick to bandwagon onto the local AFL team when they're going good. 01,02,03 and 04 were massive for Australian Rules Football in Queensland and 2019 produced something quite similar to those years. The Gabba sold out every game in those years and now this year, Queensland had its highest ever crowd at an AFL Game (37,441). When the Swans and Lions are going good, Australian Rules Football truly is a sport for the entire nation to enjoy. Soccer in Australia hasn't really had any moments that compare to these moments that the Lions, Swans, QLD and NSW have enjoyed.
Phophetic
@M you got dropped on the head at birth.
Friday night, feeling a bit depressed after a hard weeks work, I knew this would cheer me up, being an ex south oz living in qld, who only likes interstate teams, it lifted me out of a trough and feeling a whole lot better
Geelong supporter, and I don't feel bad about this moment one bit. This is single handedly one of the most amazing performances by a single player in AFL history. Bravo Nick Davis, bravo.
i feel pretty lucky. I was there for pluggers point(dougie walters stand), nick davis (in that pocket) and 2012 grand final. Special times.
M8 you said the exact same thing 3 years before this comment
The crowd is off its fucking head. Unreal atmosphere
I remember i was at the game. I was flat and despondent for most of the game. However I can genuinely say I cried with joy when the siren went. I have watched this interview countless times and it still puts a smile on my face. Carn the Swans!!!
THAT'S IT, IT'S ALL OVER!! THE SWANS INTO A PRELIMINARY FINAL!! WHAT A GAME!! WHAT A GAME OF AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL!! I still get goosebumps watching this.
2:06 “Nick Davis come 2 savis” wow, did he ever . . . 4 goals in the last quarter, what a hero, what a saviour 💪💪💪💪
as a cats supporter i can happily admit that that was one of the best individual performances in a quarter i have ever seen. It still hurts a little to watch it
absolute goosebumps!those 4 goals are some of the best you'll ever see under immense pressure..nick davis' greatest game of his career..just another backs to the wall victory by the bloods..love being a swans supporter..15 years and counting
whenever im feeling down, i just watch this
I do to Cameron, it shows that almost anything is Possible
I cry everytime I watch this hahahaha
i get teary as well haha
i watch this before every footy game i play. I still get goosebumps from it.
Can't say I'm a big fan of Aussie rules but I remember this being on the big screen at The Trinity Hotel in Surry Hills, the place was going crazy, absolutely fantastic.
I'm not a Swans fan, but this is still just about my all time favourite football moment. Hearing that final "Nick Davis! Nick Davis!" at 3:31, followed by the crowd, the emotion... I can't even finish the sentence.
Geez... I always watch this video and everytime i watch it, i get goosebumps....
Davis, Kennelly, O’Lachlan, Hall, O’Keefe, Buchanan, Barry, Bolton, Ect.... I’m not even a Swans fan but I don’t think I’ll ever see a team like this again
Shivers up the spine every time I watch this
I'm not ashamed to admit I thought we were gone when Geelong kicked the first goal in the last quarter. I was about to leave my brother's place and drive home. Something made me stay, and when Nick Davis kicked that last goal and the siren went after the bounce I just sat there with my mouth wide open wondering what the hell had just happened. :D
I had just gotten home from a long overseas trip and my throat was very sore. I recall that this was a rare Friday Night at the SCG, and with me an Adelaide Crows supporter was was very excited for the following evening's showdown vs Port. But I hardly had any voice but when Davis kicked that last goal with 1 second left I went absolutely crazy. Best finish to a game I have ever seen. I thought Geelong would never recover from this but it was great that they won flags in 07, 09 and 11.
Lol, great commentary during the second goal. "he's the hope, will he be the hero?"
Yes, yes he will.
I've probly watched this 1000 times since 2005 :)
how has this stayed with me so vividly for 8 years?
I was fortunate enough to be at this game with my dad and mates, my mates left early in the 4th quarter becoz they thought the game was over leaving me and my old man to witness possibly the best individual effort by 1 footballer in a single quarter of finals football i have ever seen. Couldn't hear the siren go and i thought the grandstand was goin to collapse it was bouncing around under foot, whilst hugging strangers it was and still is an awesome memory
"DON'T TELL ME! DON'T TELL ME! HE'S KICKED A GOAL!"
Ugh, shivers every time.
It is the 12th April, 2013 and when I want inspiration I like to watch Nick's final 4 goals against Geelong.
@garygoh777 I was in the Bradman stand at the other end of the ground with my head down in my hands thinking there just couldn't possibly be enough time left . . . but when I saw the Red and White Army behind those goal posts rise and cheer, then felt the entire stadium rock with mass hysteria, I knew the unthinkable had happened. The outright best single sporting moment I have ever experienced. I get goose bumps from just writing this.
I remember like it was yesterday night, saw this game had nothing to do so I said I'll watch and boy I have never ever regretted watching this my first proper viewing of afl and swans have always been my team and at one point I thought the swans would put up a great fight but wouldn't win, with all the ridiculous frantic playing I was literally on the edge of my bed in excitement then all of a sudden.... NICK DAVIS NICK DAVID I SEE IT BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT!
Never will I forget this game! Wha
i get goosebumps whenever i watch this .. and from what i remember this is my 20th time watching it
An absolutely thrilling performance, I was up late watching all the games from Colorado. Nick Davis was absolutely on fire, could not be stopped in any phase of the game. Note the great tip from Jason Ball on the toss, it was a scripted play and Davis took the tip on on the run to get the major. Stunning two matches for the Swannies counting the GF.
I remember driving home after Adelaide United had played & on TripleM they were saying "A victorian team will be in the Grandfinal" just before the 4th quarter started as Geelong would have played the Saints in the prelim..........enter Nick Davis. That last quarter was the greatest football I had ever seen, thankgod we got home in time
I was at this game. Was my birthday. Nick Davis' last goal went over my head by about 3 feet. There were beer showers all through the crowd. Never been to a better sporting spectacle and I dare say I never will again. Best game of football I have ever seen.
One of the greatest games ever Nick Davis a legend.
This Honestly is No2 on my All time Favourite Sporting Moments. Nick Davis what a Fucking Legend!!
Socceroos Uruguay and qualifying for the World Cup in 2006 :)
THIS GIVE ME GOOSEBUMPS EVERYTIME !
he single handedly won that game off his own boot, literally. they owe their premiership to him in that year. i watched the game on chooseday night football on fox sports, truly amazing.
One of the greatest AFL moments of all time, without a fucking doubt!
this was the happiest moment of my life
that was legendary, this will go down in history, coz of this performance by davis swans win their only premiership
No doubt one of the greatest quarters by a player ever especially in a final.Understandably if you're a Cats fan hard to watch, but at least you went on to have a great era in the years to follow and have been up there really constantly:)
2005/2006 best seasons ever, im not a swan or eagles supporter but i enjoyed the roller coaster ride... during this period we had the swan/eagles rivalry, lots of memorable games and finals.
GREATEST FINAL EVER!!!!!! I still call out to Davis as he runs around as a trainer "Nick Davis, get a jersey on!!"
Thanks for a great presentation of this amazing night to remember - always come back here to relive it every couple of months - also a good way to remember Nick's contribution to the Red & White. Go Swans
The sound made from the crowd while the last kick was in the air was not of this world. What a simply unbelievable moment in sport. Goosebumps everytime
no matter wat sport u watch this WILL give u goosebumps
I live in the western suburbs and I could hear the crowd from my house. Sometimes words just can’t describe the emotions.
The single best last quarter effort of all time !!! Still gets me fired up today !!
Go swans !!!!!!!!!!!!
simply brilliant!!!!!!! best grinding team, most passionate team i think there ever was
I am a west coast eagles fan through and through but you cant deny the skill this bloke has. 2005 and 2006 were 2 of the best years of footy ever and the swans eagles clashes still give me goosebumps.
"Nick Davis COME 2 SAVIS" is maybe the GOAT banner, but man would it suck to sit behind that one.
goosebumps every time i watch it
Evidence of the best game in the world
this will never be forgotten
unbelieavable night! i cried when he kicked the last goal, go the swannies!!!!
This 4th QTR effort and "mark mark mark Rohan" goosebumps every time
Best piece of commentary of all time. This is why it's the greatest game in the world.
Best final quarter of footy I've ever seen.
I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!! such a good game! has to be the best individual performances in afl finals history, surely.
goosebumps every time
there is 100% without a doubt a better moment in sports i remember when i saw it live... i never properly watched a game but for some reason i watched this one... and i got chills then i still get chills now... what a moment in sports holy...shit....
Still one of my favourite games of all time
Awesome year! Thank nic, thank you swans.
Pies, supporter, but get chills watching this every time. This is what sport is all about, what a story.
I was sitting in the sydney swans forward line, moments like that will stick with me for a lifetime
I was there, priceless
can't believe this was 11 years ago. Time flies!
one of the greatest individual efforts the game has ever seen
swans just beat carlton by 5 points todays prelim.
i was at that game and i still feel the emotion from that day :D
good luck swannies in 2010
Haha can you imagine him telling his kids about this. So kids that was the time where I kicked 4 goals in 15 minutes to win my team the game and then we went on to win a grand final all cause I was so damn good.
One of the most natural and sweetest kicks of the football.
Of the 41000 views. I think I have contributed about 1000 of them. Has to be the best personal effort in a team sport in Australia ever. The only person who could beat this would have to be Jordan but of course he did it just about every week
Goosebumps!
man i wish this guy still played
just fkn AWESOME
I was a swans supporter at that ground at that night. It was EPIC
great video - thank you for posting.
I was in the pocket at the end he kicked the winning goal watching and thinking about it just gives me goose bumps. It was a absoulute stunning performance... a spectacle of epic proportions. I'll remember that game for the rest of my life. The stadium just erupted and cheer...beers everywhere thrown into the air! GO THE SWANNNSSS
I wish we'd get into Aussie Rules in the States. It's frigging fantastic.
Really eerie..
Check out the dying minutes of the 1981 semi-final between Fitzroy and Collingwood..
This was history repeating itself..
..... I could watch this all day..
From a Collingwood fan...
lol man that last goal is like Davis came out like a thief in the night and took the goods. Unreal.
The third goal is so highly skilled.
2010 is starting to smell a lot like 2005, we got our comeback win last week like we did in this match against geelong, the road to the GF of blues-dogs-st kilda is a lot easier than the alternative of hawks-cats-collingwood,the way the draw has fallen into place, the way key players are coming back at the right time, im optimistic this will be our fairytale season for kirky and roosy
that was absolutely ridiculously good
everytime i watch this, i get the biggest smile. go swannies! :)
Even though i go for Collingwood i respect Sydney so much for what they did last Saturday. They came out without a chance in the world and beat the best side of the year!
I swear this is true my dad went to this game as a swans supporter and thought it was over at half time but his friend that went with him said to my dad I reckon Sydney will win and guess what my dad said if we do it will be because of nick davis and believe this or not after this game my dad and his friend met nick davis after the game and got the ticket signed :) go bloods!! Sydney swans all the way for life
Brought tears on this night. Epic.
big toss up between jimmy hirds last quarter against west coast after he slagged the umpires and this. but four goals in the last quarter of a final to win the game has to be the greatest quarter of individual footy i've ever seen.
When the first goal is scored of this video, the clock stops at 13:37, this must have been a sign.
the amount of sydney supporting chicks he gets after this will be so many
nick davis without a dout the best performance buy a man of all time
just saw this on zaka's best 10 and had to watch the lot. most unbelievable 1/2 a quarter ever!!!
still gives me shivers 7 years on
"Why would you think its going to happen now, for the next 15 minutes?"
dude, shush. we win
