    Just did "water spot removal" on my Jeep JK with Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I was able to remove OLD water spots BY HAND, (don't have one of those electric thing-ama-jigs")! This compound worked perfectly and left the paint looking shiny and new! I have watched a few CZcams videos comparing different chemical solutions for removing water spots, but none of them included this stuff! It works by hand, well enough, but I suggest getting an electric polisher.

    Thank you thank you thank you for the detail in this video. My favorite part was when you explained that it is based off an original compound, and made to be more user friendly and forgiving. Hearing this makes it feel safer to use, and that's really important when you're talking about the difference between damaging and not damaging your paint. Obviously most of us aren't professionals, but know that just like painting your walls, it can be done by yourself with the right tools. Anyways thanks again great video 👍

    You are right about making sure you work this stuff in long enough. I've used this a lot and the biggest mistake I've made when I first used it was not buffing long enough. I found it work best using a DA and going until the compound almost turns clear and is barely visible. Also....I found that it was critical to make sure when you wipe it off, you switch micro fiber clothes fairly often. Using the same one will end up just smearing it around if the cloth is coated with the stuff. I went through a dozen or so doing a complete truck. Thanks for vid!

    Nice to see the results. I used this on my old beat up Audi with decent results but more so recently on my ZX6R's plastic fairings. It did a good job but with certain areas of plastic you could add damage very easily. The polish had zero noticeable effect on scratches and finish in my test area so I didn't use that in the end and just did the 1 step compound.

    Finally free to catch up on your videos. Thanks for confirming that it does not have fillers. A few detailer’s been telling me that it has silicone acting like fillers and glad that it’s only enhancers. Meg’s Ultimate is a prefect product brand to get into car detailing without spending too much. DA a must with great working time. Thanks for the videos! Educational as usual. FYI, newbies - Don’t use this on hard paint :). Not aggressive enough.

      UC with an aggressive enough pad + good old rotary will do the job on most ‘hard’ clearcoats, barring maybe Volvo’s (they have clear that’s even harder than most Germans).

      Wish I saw this post before I tried to use it on my A3.... • @fadey786
    @fadey786 Před 6 lety +37

    If you are Meguiar's professional line fan, you should still keep it in stock because sometimes UC (Ultimate Compound) works much better for soft paints as compared to M105. UC is derived from M105 but with more working time and its aggressiveness is 6 on professional line of scale. M105 is 12 and M205 is 4 on aggressiveness scale. So UC is somewhere between M105 and M205. This is reason I mentioned you must keep it in stock even if you are a professional. It helps in lot of scenarios. You must always do test sections and see which is better in your scenario.

      I just did it on three cars, depending on car paint, if it feels rough after washing it than it has many abbrasives and contaminants
      1st use clay bar
      2nd compound
      3rd Polish
      4th Wax

      DatDamMexican hey bro, I’m on it right now. I washed, clayed, compound, polished... did you use some “grease & wax remover” prior to waxing? I saw some videos doing it to remove oils/grease from compound, polish used so the wax will stick more into the paint/clear coat.

    • @Mane_ea
      @Mane_ea Před 4 lety

      @@gawaniisko3111 No need, if you do you will remove all the polish particles that help bring out the sparkle kind of like a matte finish and it will defeat the purpose of bringing out the gloss.

      @@Carlos.Rivera I like it, no miracles performed but I grabbed the Scatch X as well and they both have helped my old car....the cutting compound(applied with machine) is good! Going to try a second time today...its worth the $15 that's for sure! 😷

    Thanks for this great guideline to me. I just need to buy some microfibres pads to get on with it. In my case, I decided to do a three step process with Meguiars ‘ products: Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Quick Wax. Let’s see the final results. Regards from Spain.

    Ive been told ultimate compound is full of fillers but I used it to get rid of some scratches (by hand) and did a fantastic job, the correction seems to be permanent. However if it had fillers it would have worn out by now, I am very impressed with it. I havent tried the polish yet but I feel compelled now. Thanks for the great video!

      @fadey786 Před 6 lety +2

      There are no fillers in Ultimate Compound but Ultimate Polish have both fillers and abrasives. So with Ultimate Polish some minor defects will get removed and some gets filled. It's kind of mixture of M205 and one of their glaze product which I don't remember now.

    • @fadey786
      @fadey786 Před 6 lety +1

      If you don't like fillers, you can use Mothers Pure Polish after Ultimate Compound because that polish don't have any fillers and silicone.

      You're welcome. I have a quick question, if you don't mind? I own a 5vyear old metallic black Jaguar XFS, whose paint is in good condition, other than a few light swirls and scratches, and was thinking of using Meguiars D300 microfiber correction compound to correct the pain. However, would Meguiars Ultimate Compound be more suitable? Thanks in advance.

    Great video. As an amateur, I use Menzerna medium cut on a DA for swirls but if there's water etching or a scratch that's a bit too stubborn, I use Megs Ultimate Compound on a hand MF applicator. It's too slow and tiring for a pro but it gets the job done safely for me.

      I know you wrote this 5 years ago, however any help is appreciated. I have hard water spots on my car that isnt coming off with my above surface methods and I admit I'm scared to try harder things such as compounds, etc. How hard of pressure and how long did you work in the compound before wiping it off? And did you just dry wipe, wet wipe, or did you rinse, then wipe? Thank you for any help!
