Lovely Jubbly, another very informative video Scottie, definitely one of the best on the market for DIY polishing.
Thanks dude 👍🏻, yeah it’s pretty awesome stuff, having used the graphene 1&done by TW, I haven’t used this stuff since lol
I applied this to my F80 M3, best one step compound/polish i have ever used! Never going back to chemical guys lol.
rhenzlemuel09 try the ultimate polish after you use the compound, it’s brilliant and brings a really deep wet gloss look to the paint👍🏻
@@jankindl915 You ever compounded a car before? Let's say you bought yourself a really nice 4 year old keeper that the previous owner never took care of. You go ahead and applied a m105 and finished off with a m205 then a nice wax. You take it to the car wash like most everyone does then low and behold it's full of scratches. What do you do now? Compound it again? In most cases the least abrasive method will always be the best option if you plan to keep the car for a long time.

@@Ilovecash10 interior plastic panel?...probably not but try a small spot and see what happens.
Excellent video, very informative. I intend to use it on my car as it has light scratches. Thank you!
I'm the biggest asshole when it comes to reviewing a product. I used it on a 6-year-old dark blue Ford pickup truck that sits outside in the scalding hot Texas sun exposed to approximately 55 inches of rain each year and 90 to not at all unusual 100 degree days. I had water spots on top of water spots. I once tried a clay bar and yeah it worked to some degree but it would have taken a ridiculously long time to do the entire vehicle. I literally think it would have taken several days assuming my hands could hold up to that much work. Watched your video, bought a cheap $45 buffer, and gave it a try. Amazing product. Got every last water stain out. I was 100% pleased with the results! Thanks for posting this video!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching 👍🏻, don’t forget to give it some wax to protect the work. Also, there is a new product by turtle wax, it’s called “one and done graphene compound” I detailed a black Mercedes with it (video is on the channel) and it’s superb, in my opinion it is superior to the meguiars stuff as it has no fillers👍🏻
@@DaveRebuilds Thank you. I literally did it yesterday and need to buy wax today. I'll check it out. Kind of funny, I'm sixty years old and not much of a car guy anymore. I just see a vehicle as getting me from point A to B. I can remember in my youth I had a black Cutlass Supreme and any time I waxed it I would often go back outside the same day just to admire my work. Ha, I was doing the same thing yesterday. Couldn't get over how well the product worked.

You’re very welcome and thanks for the feedback! You can pick up a machine polisher relatively cheap (£100) just make sure it’s a dual action (DA) polisher not a rotary and you will be good to go👍🏻, also, get a medium to light pad for it not a rough one👍🏻

New sub to help you along the way. Decent video there mate. I’ve had this product for almost a year but only ever used it on headlights. I’ve had a DA for just over a year and today it’s getting its first run out. Yesterday I filled Stone chips on my black Sharan, today is compound and polish day. 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Karlos Fandango thanks for the kind words dude! Very much appreciated 👍🏻
Its done its job. Don't want to lift every single scratch with compound. By the time you do, you'll have on through too much of your clearcoat. polishing and waxing will fill them remaining scratches.
Liked a sub'd! That's a phenomenal outcome! I am hoping to learn how to do some detailing on my own vehicles. This video was definitely helpful! Thank you very much.

I love this product. I match it with a griots da and orange foam pad. Excellent results and to finish ultimate polish 👌
gambietti Thanks for the feedback👍🏻, I really rate the ultimate polish as well!
This product on My Mom's 2014 Dark Charcoal Metallic finish is amazing! Such nice gloss. Using a FLEX 3401 with LC CCS 6.5" orange pads. Put about 5/6 pea sized dots of product on. Spray the pad with two spritzes of detail spray, have at it :)
Just curious, why detail spray instead of distilled water to bring product out of the pad? I would think detail spray would leave undesired sealant to remove for a clean, blank slate. Honest question, not trying to argue since it probably works great for you.
I'm using it today to fix my mom's 2013 Cinnabar Red Merc (many touch car washes) and am watching videos to see how to get the most of it.

Just did "water spot removal" on my Jeep JK with Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I was able to remove OLD water spots BY HAND, (don't have one of those electric thing-ama-jigs")! This compound worked perfectly and left the paint looking shiny and new! I have watched a few CZcams videos comparing different chemical solutions for removing water spots, but none of them included this stuff! It works by hand, well enough, but I suggest getting an electric polisher.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated 😃👍🏻. Yeah a DA polisher is a worthwhile investment. Well done for hand polishing an entire Jeep, your arms must be aching now 😂👍🏻
@@DaveRebuilds Yes they were, a bit afterwards! Certainly recommend an electric buffer.
Im buffing an f150 with this compound and it works really well specially because is black color and after this compound im applying the polish as 2nd step with a softer pad but i feel like is taking for ever to get this truck done
I used with a rotary poliher with wool.pad on my 2009 didge jounrney mextrain green mettalic and results were great

Nice!
Used the wax with similar results it's very good
A wax pretty much just fills in the scratches. A compound will help remove minor scratches.
I always start of with a damp pad and a spray bottle of water handy. Find it reduces any heat build up and gives a better finish.
Yeah I started doing that a couple months after I made this video on someone’s recommendation and it works a treat 👍🏻, assuming you don’t use too much water and spray polish everywhere 😂
Amazing
Hey, Dasi. YOu cannot go wrong with Meguiar’s products in general speaking terms. Only because they are easily accessible, good price and very good performance as in this compound. Not bad at all. But I do like the results you ended up with despite some of the deeper scratches that no compound can get (except through wet sanding).

Amazing work!
Hey nice video, I was just wondering what’s a good hand applicator I can use, a microscopic towel, a sponge for car washing, or what’s something good I could buy to apply the compound, thanks!
Thank you 👍🏻, so you can buy applicator pads in different strengths, depending on how deep the scratches are. I know turtle wax and a company called lake country do excellent pads. I wouldn’t recommend a sponge as it’s too soft, microfibre towels are quite good, the tricky part is ensuring even pressure across the face of it when rubbing, so definitely go with a pad if you can!
Another great compound to try is turtle wax graphene 1 and done compound, I used it in a video to detail an e-class Mercedes and it was incredible 👍🏻
That's a pad you can get at most stores pinpoint information well done.
Thank you 👍🏻, I try to make the videos as honest as I can so that people get an honest opinion, rather than fake reviews like some creators do 😃
Thanks for the video, I have a query, I have a 5 year old car, never done any paint protection or detailing, so can I use meguiar's ultimate compound to remove swirls and scratches and then turtlewax ceramic spray as a sealant without using meguiar polish? Will that be ok or is it necessary to use polish after compounding?
You’re very welcome, thanks for watching! So….if you’ve never protected/detailed it before, I’d start out by giving it a proper wash with a non wax based shampoo (meguiars do a good one), then use a clay bar to remove any really stuck on contaminants (I have a video on how to use one), dry the car down then use the compound to remove the swirls etc then yes, you can just put a protective coat over top. Best practice would be to use a polish after the compound to remove the final 1% of super light swirls caused by the compound, but it’s not necessary unless it’s a show car standard you’re looking for.
Another incredible compound (again, have a video using it on an old Mercedes’) is turtle wax “one&done” graphene compound which acts as both a compound and polish 👍🏻
Hope that helps 😃
Thanks for your video. Must I necessarily add wax after using this compound? If wax is necessary must it be meguiars wax or any other wax is okay?
Hi, yes, I would use a wax or sealant after compounding to keep the paintwork looking shiny for longer and yes, you can use and companies wax, it doesn’t have to be meguiars 👍🏻. I have a couple of videos on my channel using turtle wax graphene compound which is incredible stuff if it helps 👍🏻😃
It works as advertised. Just did a 2009 Ranger that hadn’t been done for a long time. Then used Polish and the ultimate paste wax.
Nice! I'm thinking about doing this for the upcoming weekend... what do you use after polishing?
T Li hi, I would recommend using a wax after you are finished with the polish to keep the shine in the paint👍🏻, I use Meguiars wax as it’s really easy to use and wipe off
T Li do you mean a ceramic coat when you say sealant? If so, yes that would do the trick, but does take longer to apply and get right than a traditional wax coat👍🏻
Meguires ultimate wax or gold class carnauba wax plus work perfect after a compound

LaaginDieGhette thanks dude, yeah it’s good stuff, might need a couple of passes at each panel depending how scratched it is👍🏻

Dasi, nice job! I have used this product before & I know how well it works. However, after you have compounded, then you have to polish, then wax, a three step process. Please allow me to introduce you to 3D One Compound/Polish or Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution Ceramic Polish/Wax. If your scratch are severeve, use 3D One with a uro fiber 50/50. For lighter scratches, use TW HBS ceramic polish eliminates

How do you find the Halfords DA Polisher please, always been into detailing but never machine polished
Rubbernut 1975 it’s not bad as a starter DA to be honest, I used mine for over a year before it started to “fail” and even at that, it’s only the speed control that sticks now and then. Quite a sturdy built little machine for £80-£90. Plus, you can get halford DA pads that are really simple to understand: brown - really rough compounding, yellow - medium (great with ultimate compound) and black - polish or on a slow speed can be used for applying wax.
Check out the other video I did last week using ultimate compound and polish if you want to see how good meguiars polish is👍🏻
Great video. I’m going to buy a DAP - where do you get your pads from? My car is pretty new, so just want to give it a full machine polish. It’s got very light swirls on it - would Ultimate Polish be the best thing to use? Cheers
Hi, I get my pads from www.slimsdetailing.co.uk (or .com) they are awesome and the customer service is great 👍🏻 if you can, I would try Rupes ultra fine polish or turtle wax new graphene one and done compound, they give a much more lasting result 😃, hope that helps 👍🏻
You could work the first pass lo ger and got that results use a meduimum cut pad the meguairs ultimate polish and results are way betyer
Looking at what Amazon has on this line of products, it looks like the maroon/red pad is for the compound, yellow pad is for the polish, and black pad for the wax. Have you used the pads that it appears Meguiars specifically has for the Ultimate line?
Wax on wax off🖐🏻🤚🏻
I’ve been using this and their finishing polish. Done in 3 stages of foam pads. I painted numerous Harleys and color sanded to 3000 grit and polished with the Meguiar’s. I’ve won best paint at numerous shows using only Meguiar’s and not 3-4 different “pro” brands products.
That’s awesome dude! Thanks for sharing👍🏻. Do you use any of the more “pro” level meguiars polishes? Or is it just the consumer stuff like ultimate compound?
@@DaveRebuilds I haven’t tried their pro stuff. I think I’ve gotten lucky by stumbling upon the consumer stuff before trying too many other products. At the price this sells for and the results I feel there’s little reason to try expensive stuff. I will be trying Ceram-X that Tamco paint products sells. I’ll be using several of their products when painting my truck soon and figure I might as well try the polish. It’s supposed to be really good. I’ll try it, if I don’t like it i have plenty of Meguiars.
I bought a rotary polisher from Agors a good few years ago.i guess about 8"" diameter.. Would you recommend using it with this polish compound?
Hi, yeah it should be ok as long as you know how to use a rotary properly? I stay away from rotaries through fear of burning thru paint 😂
After using compound, should you still follow it with a polish if you’re going to apply a ceramic coating?
Hi, it depends on if there are still small scratches left by the compound, the polish can help get a really shiny finish before applying a ceramic coat. Remember and use some IPA to wipe the panels down before applying the ceramic to remove any polish/compound residue 👍🏻
Just so your aware you’re wiping it off too early you need to work the product in longer till almost can’t see it mate then wipe the residue off ! Good work so far

You need to use a wax on top of this stuff dude and the shine you will get will be immense 👍🏻
What pad should I use to apply the compound for the usual light scratches on a carbon black bmw
if its light scratches, i would try the least aggressive pad you can first, and then move to more aggressive if it doesn't work. last thing you want to do (especially on black paint) is go in aggressive to start with and make it worse :) if it's just swirl marks you are tryign to remove, maybe try a polish first and then move to a compound if the polish doesn't get the results. hope that helps
@@DaveRebuilds that does help. Thanks for the advice, I'll go with the good quality polish first.
Did you clay first?
so the big scratch went away when i put the compound and wiped it off but it came back the next day. What am i doing wrong? i did it all by hand by the way but i just ordered a drill polishing kit for the drill i have and im going to try it again when it gets here. Let me know what i can do or dont do.
Hi, unfortunately, it will depend on how deep the scratch is as to whether this product will be able to fix it. If it didn't work, you may need to try a more aggressive compound and polish after to remove the fine swirl marks caused by the heavier compound.
Can this product be applied by hand? I have a steel, front door of my house which is painted red , it faces south and paint has oxidized. I wanted to try some compound but need to avoid scratches , I do not have a mechanical orbital applicator
Hi, yes it can be used by hand, but there are a couple of paint renovator products that might do a better job of a door as automotive paint is different than the type of paint used elsewhere. I’d suggest trying it on a small section of the door first to make sure it’ll give you the desired outcome 😃👍🏻
Thank you for your post. Just subscribed. Maybe a better microphone so we can hear you talk clearly and better. Just some friendly advice. Thanks for the video again. Looking forward to the next one.
thanks for the feedback, it depends which camera i'm using as to whether its the onboard mic or an external, will try and run the external mic on both cameras going forward :)
@@DaveRebuilds Thanks for your effort. Highly appreciated. I learned alot from you.
It’s a good product but just know this, the product has a lot of silicone/emulsions in it that’s what makes it look good, when wiping it down with IPA before nano coating, 50% of the scratches reappear
Great info @praneet Singh. Thanks for sharing. Did not know that. I do love this product. Was planning on a ceramic type product after, now I think I'll just throw some wax on and be done
andrew c if you are wanting to go down the nano path, meguairs ultimate polish afterwards helps a lot, it fines up the micro scratch’s and then the nano gets rid of the last part by filling it in, hope this helps
Praneet Singh totally agree, Ultimate polish is brilliant! @andrewc, I have some so will do a review vid on it 👍🏻
andrew c if you are looking for a really easy ceramic coat, take a look at auto finesse caramics, I have a video on it, super easy to apply and lasts up to 12 months with a single coat👍🏻, very DIY friendly
When you’re compounding at speed setting 5, how much pressure were you applying to the machine? 5-10 lbs?
Hardly any at all, I typically just steady the machine with my hands and let the machine do all the work, so maybe 5lb at most 👍🏻
I do t have the buffing machine. Can I just use my hand and Microfibre cloth? Does it help with deeper scratches?
@@Wowwwzaaa yes you can, it will just be time consuming. how deep is scratches? if its clear coat scratches then yes, but if the scratches reaches the base coat/primer then you have to apply touch up paint. Thats my guess though not a professional lol
@@arntrezlacy8991 not really just very time consuming. I usually do one body panel at a time take a break and go back. Also remember to only do small potions at a time so to not leave compound on the vehicle long( when its hazed you have about 10 secs before it sticks to paint).
After you apply the compound do you let it sit for a while ? Or wipe it off straight after ??
You wipe it off when it hazes up if doing it by hand, if using a DA then just remove it as soon as you have finished a section 👍🏻
Ok someone help me out. So it's wash the car first to get rid of any wax. Then clay bar. Then compound, polish, and then wax? Then after waxing you use a sealant?
Yup, that’s exactly right dude, although I typically just use the wax as the sealant and then maybe use a sealant every 3-4 washes just to top up the shine 👍🏻
I painted a car with acrylic in my shed , turned out not bad , i wet sanded up to 3000 grit got it really flat ive used a couple of different compounds but scratches and swirls still showing although shiny , im gonna try Ultimate next
Try Rupes compounds instead dude they don’t contain fillers and will remove all the scratches! Use the yellow lid polish first, then the white lid Rupes and it’ll look like glass when you are done 👍🏻
Love to try it after claying won't there be a lot of work and effort to do it by hand my cars paint is in good condition?
Yes, it will take longer to do by hand than with a machine polisher, but the result should be close to the same. I’d recommend using a machine polisher though if you can! Also, if you cars paintwork is in good condition, maybe just try the polish rather than the compound as well👍🏻
Is that stuff good enough to use as a cutting compound on wet sanded panels?
Short answer, no lol. It is nowhere near good enough for such a task. You would need to use something like Rupes compounds 👍🏻. I’d also be careful if you are wet sanding a panel as it’s a risky thing to do if you haven’t done it before
Looking to try this product, Heard good things about it, Do you no a decent battery buffer?
I don’t mate sorry, I only have cord ones! If Rupes do one then I’d recommend it as their polishers are superb!
I’d also recommend turtle wax graphene 1&done compound if you’re looking for an alternative to this stuff, it’s incredible! Did a video using it on al old e class merc and it turned out amazing 👍🏻
I have a question after the product we put how long does it last?
Depends on how well you have removed the scratches. I’ve found that the deeper scratches generally get “filled” rather than removed so they may come back after a few months. I’d recommend watching my video on the autoglym scratch remover for deeper scratches and turtle wax graphene compound for lighter scratches 👍🏻
Great video. Will this work using a microfiber cloth? Have a few small scratches on my new car that are driving me insane.
Yeah it does work with a microfibre, just takes a little bit more elbow grease lol. If you can hold off until Boxing Day I am about to release a video of a compound that is 1000x better 👍🏻👍🏻

After applying the Ultimate Compound, is it convenient to apply the Ultimate Polish to polish the paint and finally apply a sealed wax? Thank you! Greetings from Chile.
Ignacio Lopez hi, assuming you remove the compound before applying the polish then yes. However, the ultimate compound is essentially a polish, so you can just apply a wax coat after using it if time is a factor
LEXUS-RX300 hi, i day it’s a polish as it has all the aspects of a polish, it’s slightly abrasive as a polish should be, but not very abrasive like a compound would be
@@DaveRebuilds sir .its mean after we wash car ,

step 2. apply wax . Is done no need to use ultimate polish again ?
sallehuddin takal hi, if you are wanting the best result I would recommend using a clay bar/mitt on the paint after a wash to remove any heavy contaminants e.g. tar spots, then use ultimate compound, then wax. But yes, you can just use the ultimate compound then wax, you don’t need to use a polish as well if time doesn’t allow. Hope that helps?👍🏻
Looks like a nice shiny buff , until you wash or rains and it will return
Yeah you really need to work it to remove the scratches properly. There are better compounds on the market these days for sure 👍🏻
Fantastic ! Did you apply a wax later ?
Rex Anderson I did yeah. Always put a wax coat on after polishing to help bring out a bit more gloss/shine but also to seal the paint👍🏻
The stuff truly is worth every penny. I've used it on glass, plastic, chrome, nickel plating, and even wood grain trim and the results are always absolute crystal clear mirror finish.
Cool, I didn’t know it could be used on all those different surfaces, although it kinda makes sense that it would be good 👍🏻, thanks dude, appreciate the feedback 😃
Nice!
I was literally about to comment. I used this stuff on a wood table I finished with some polyacrylic. It worked out so well haha. I work at an advance auto and I sell this stuff to people constantly. About 70% of them use it on everything that's not a car more often. Tables. Old tools. You name it haha. The polish that they make is also some of the best stuff ever! :D
