    If you are mind blown, then start your Pink Floyd journey with Dark Side Of The Moon...the entire album needs to be listened in one sitting but there are some amazing songs on the album that can be listened on their own such as Time (with lyrics), The Great Gig In The Sky, Us And Them, etc. From there, listen to Animals, also with lyrics...THAT will really blow your mind. Welcome to the rabbit hole!!

      Yeh, the song "Sorrow" is the perfect example of that (also at the 1994 pulse concert) - Soooooo many lasers and different lighting sequences - It is one hell of a live performance to watch and listen to, I highly recommend watching/reacting to it. Also "Run Like Hell" is another great example of insane lighting, also from the same concert :)

      PF was the first band to ever use a light show. None of them wanted to be the center of attention, so they created the light show to draw attention away from the band members.

    • @EdmundGerber
      @EdmundGerber Před 4 lety +4

      And for this tour - Pulse - they had 3 complete stage sets - one being torn down somewhere, one being performed on that night, and one being put together in their next town. Expensive as hell but what a professional way to do things.

    • @jimo7593
      @jimo7593 Před 4 lety +2

      @@EdmundGerber actually that process was rather common for them since the Wall tour in 1980.
      That stage set took, if I recall, like 3 days to put up n 3 to take down. Thus one of the reasons they actually lost money on that tour...well, except Rick Wright who Roger had thrown out of the band prior to the tour, but agreed to let him perform as a "session" player and got paid as such.

    I was at this concert. The guitar solo at the end was so epic, that the whole audience was in awe. David Gilmour has a way of making his guitar speak to your soul. Even after the concert in the parking lot, we were still in awe from what we had just witnessed. It was an experience I will never forget. I don't know if you noticed, but the audience was still during the song. Also he was so relaxed during the solo ( as if he was sitting in his lounge chair watching a movie with his feet up.

    Unfortunately you will not be able to see a live show. Pink Floyd is now part of history. I was fortunate enough to see the Pulse tour at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey in July 1994. It was a moment in my life, along with a few select other moments, I will never forget. Hearing that first chord in a live environment is a feeling you cannot describe. And then, from that first chord, thru the solos, you feel the "Worms" crawling under the skin on your back, your neck, your head. It is just absolutely incredible.

    The band formed in 1965. The guitar player, Dave Gilmour, joined in 1968. The gray-haired guy on keyboards, Rick Wright, is an original member. He passed away in 2008. The Drummer, Nick Mason, is an original member. The other two original members are not on stage. The others on stage are extras for the live shows which actually take hundreds of people to put on. The Floyd does not skimp in any aspect of their music. Roger Waters, the bass player and lyricist let the band in 1985. He still tours on his own, but he is approaching 77 years young. Nick Mason is touring his Saucerful Of Secrets Tour with guitarist Dave Gilmour. But circumstances are hindering both Waters' and Masons' tours.

    As I had stated from an earlier reaction of this version, this performance exceeded the studio version. I'm biased I'll admit, but there is no denying that the two solos David Gilmour plays during this particular recording is right at the top of them all. The feeling he expresses with his guitar reaches the depths of your soul. For another soul grabbing experience, I would suggest reacting to 'The Great Gig in the Sky' from their 'Dark Side of the Moon' album. You will not be disappointed.

    Many British bands in the 1960s like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Cream, the Rolling Stones etc were listening to and being influenced by imported American old school black blues records.
    Co-founder of P.F. named the band as a homage after his two favorite blues musicians; Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

    Unfortunately u will not be able to see them in concert, the guitar guy is one of the founding members his name is David Gilmore, the keyboardist is also one of the originals, unfortunately his passed away a few years ago, Richard wright the drummer is also an original founding member Nick Mason, i have been to 3 of thier concerts, dark side of the moon tour , the delicate sound of thunder tour, and the pulse tour, all were mind blowing, pick up the DVDs of them and close ur eyes and listen to them on a surround sound format, it will blow u away. Love ur channel, and yes i am quite s bit older than u 66 to be exact and i still get chills watching and listening to them, i turned my son on to them and my grandson they love it , happy listening an God Bless you and your futute

    I went to see them on this tour. Probably 85% of the crowd was either stoned or on acid. Sitting in the crowd taking everything in was an experience I’ll never forget. I saw them at the old foxboro stadium, gilmores solo and the rotating disco ball. Damn I want to go back now lol

    Awweh, that picture made me so happy and sad at the same time. All 5 of them. Poor Syd, poor everyone. Syd looking at the sky, already gone, Roger looking ahead, away from the band, and Richard, RIP. So much transcendent human brilliance in this band.

    The lyrics were inspired by Waters's experience of being injected with tranquilizers for stomach cramps before a Pink Floyd show in Philadelphia in 1977.

    Considered by most as one of the greatest Guitar Solo created. David Gilmore makes the guitar actually sing. All of his solos are very unique and soulful. He still plays but they will never play together again. Separately maybe.

    Pink Floyd, at the top of their game were 4 people: David Gilmour(vocals, gtr), Nick Mason(drums) Roger Waters(bass and vocals and sole lyricist from 1973 onwards), and Richard Wright(keyboards and vocals). At the time of this performance many things had happened to screw with the band's line-up, but 3 of the 4 are indeed here, but they are joined by many extra musicians. Before the 3:15 mark only Richard Wright is the only original member that appears on camera. At 3:15 is David Gilmour on lead vox and gtr. When you eventually see the drummer(the older percussionist in the white shirt), that's Nick Mason. Everyone else on screen are extras - hired for the tour the concert was from. Roger Waters is the one that is missing and on the studio version of the song, his voice sang the 1st and 3rd verses(the parts sung by the whole band in this video) and it's still David singing verses 2 & 4.The studio version features a gtr solo at the end that is far shorter than this one, but more strictly structured and beautiful. This one seems a b it more emotional and longer, but that studio version is the only one that still sends chills down my spine. And I was AT this concert! I saw them on the premiere concert of the tour, in Detroit Michigan, 2 weeks before this performance in Earl's Court
    , which itself was about 2 weeks before the performance that appears on the Pulse CD.

    When you leave a Floyd concert there's silence. Everyone's stunned at what they've just seen and heard. The first reaction is to head for the ticket office to see if there's any left for the next show. Every other artist's performance you see just doesn't cut it any more.

    I have seen them live three times and bought their album at the time, On the album version they get to add a lot of extra effects to their songs, because they had 16 tracks to play with. But playing live it was pure talent, and they pulled it of with class

  • @markpayne1748

    There are guitar solos that are just iconic. The first guitar solo between the first verse and the second is one. Prince's Purple Rain outro also springs to mind. What I mean are the solos that are rarely varied, even by cover bands and karaoke tracks. To vary from the formula is sacrilege. The solo is like a watermark, if you will. It proves the song's authenticity.
    The second solo after the second chorus is what I call "the glitz"-- the balls-to-the-wall aka show-off aka "that just happened" solo, where you put all you can cram into it.
    But even more, at your 10:09 mark, that's a sacred experience. Pure and simple.
