- Kingsman: The Secret Service was an over-the-top homage to spy movies like the James Bond series, so it only made sense that its sequel, The Golden Circle, took things even further. The sequel gave fans exactly what they wanted, with hilarious comedy and overblown action, as well as plenty of Easter eggs and references to James Bond, Elton John, and the first movie.
In addition, viewers finally got to see a scene from the first film that lead actor Taron Egerton was bummed got left on the cutting room floor. Let’s take a look at some Easter eggs you missed in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Were there any other Easter eggs in Kingsman: The Golden Circle that we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
Looper I just mentioned the "Backstage Pass" by Elton John
that's the big one they missed since the writers were making a joke at the sexist backlash, because some people can't take a joke
Jus Zalar Elton John can take it, *wink wink*
There were a bunch of references to the first movie that weren't in here
Wow
The flashback scene with Harry teaching Eggsy for the dinner was beautiful.
Country road, take me home, to the place, I belong
*salute*
GOD DAMMIT I AM NOT READY FOR THIS SHIT
Now look what you've done! You made it all dusty in here.
But seriously, that was a great scene. Somehow I chuckled while I wanted to cry.
Alan Wong Merlin 😭
No! Not okay! 😭
Speaking of last Easter Egg, there is one more reference. When Harry saves Elton John hes asks - "Can I get tickets to your concert?", to which Elton says, "If you save the world, you can through backstage". So, a clever nod.
Another anal joke? Totally went over my head
He winked so I was like 'Ohhhh'
that was an amazing piece of wordplay. i laughed out loud in the cinema
When I saw that and realized its position in the film in relation to the wording and position of the joke of the first... I was actually a little scared we were gonna get a shot of Elton John's ass.
Zom i was the only one who chuckled/giggled in the cinema and i felt so awkward.
When eggsy brought in the dog and threatened to shoot it, i said ‘Nooo’!’ And people in the cinema laughed and i got so embarrassed
Cmon, how could yall miss the one where Eggsy tells Merlin "Looking good" and he replies with "Feeling good"? It's such a scene mentioning the first movie!
and both were references to Trading Places of course
YES THAT WAS GREAT
nobody's sad bout JB? okay i'll cry in the corner alone
We should drink for JB
dont forget merlin
screw it. lets cry for all of em
Mole Titan Brandon?
Mole Titan I was jb was the true hero
More like Easter Eggsys amirite?
Sorry.. I’ll see myself out.
dammit you stole my joke
I was gonna say that
Jank Paul I thought the same
Stay
Dammit!
Still mad about the mine scene :(
Minefreak was it a good movie tho?
He's gonna be back in the next film, with some weird ass explanation again.
Yeah the movie was good but the mine scene was sad
lol naw just let Merlin rest in peace.
The country roads took him home
you also missed the easter egg than Elton says to harry at the end. harry asks for tickets to eltons show if he saves the world. Elton then says 'if you save the world, you can have "backstage" passes' another anal joke, you missed that one looper
You forgot that sexual reference was said by Elton John, promising a "Backstage Pass" to Harry for saving the world 😂 😂
I was going to say that as well.
Glad I’m not the only one who found that reference.... seems most people have though 😕
omg lol i thought that was a real thing! a backstage pass i didnt know it was a sexual reference!!! btw i love the YEAHHH at the wedding scene by elton!
I've missed them all because I haven't seen it yet.
I know
Dsdcain don’t it’s trash
TMC MarCodeRed if you actually read the whole series.
Dsdcain it's worth the money
TMC MarCodeRed it's not, you probably haven't seen it
Take me home, Country road :(((
Armageddon I cried
I was singing this song while watching this video I saw your comment at the top and sang it constantly
😭😭😭
Love that song...
merlin:( i was so sad
The movie legit just came out today
Slytherin Queen It came out yesterday you idiot. I watched it yesterday.
Vinyl the official release date was the 22nd. Which was Friday. Not Thursday. So educate yourself please.
It released Thursday night....
Came out Wednesday for me
ACC it came out Wednesday
Here in india everyone is loving this movie!! 😎👌😎 Hoping Kingsman 3 will happen!!
In "Kingsman: The Golden Circle", Merlin decides to sacrifice himself to take out Poppy's guards and give Eggsy and Harry an opening to attack Poppy's base. He steps on a landmine that is activated if pressure is released from it (but only does this to save Eggsy, who had accidentally stepped on the mine), lures the guards toward him, and then triggers its detonation after singing an awesome song.
It is obvious that he intends to die and has no expectation to survive, but what if he did anyway?
Firstly, Kingsman suits are known to be bulletproof. As we see in the church fight in the first film, Harry was shot several times but didn't even budge or even seem to notice. Furthermore, in that same scene, a grenade detonates just a foot away from him, and he is knocked back but not harmed. Clearly, Kingsman suits are the best kind of bulletproof vests in existence. No existing bulletproof vest is able to absorb damage like theirs, especially not one so lightweight.
With this knowledge, we know that it is feasible that Merlin could have survived the explosion, but there's more.
Earlier in the film, Poppy's henchman Charlie enters Poppy's base wearing a bulletproof vest and a large helmet. Poppy asks him why he wears the vest and helmet whenever he enters, and he says that he will continue to wear them until the land mines are deactivated. Charlie, as one of Poppy's highest-ranking men, would certainly know all about the power of the landmines, so if he believed a bulletproof vest could protect him from the mines, then we ought to assume that this is true. This is clear evidence that in the Kingsman universe, a simple bulletproof vest is powerful enough to withstand a landmine explosion.
Granted, Merlin was not wearing a helmet when the mine detonated, but his suit is clearly far more powerful than Charlie's measly vest. In addition, who's to say that Kingsman shoes don't contain some kind of protection against explosions? For a spy agency that uses aftershave grenades and umbrella guns, certainly anything is possible.
Now, from a meta point of view, the writers would be quite likely to bring Merlin back. Remember when Harry "died" in the first film? It was basically set in stone that he was dead, and you'd have to have been silly to claim that he could have possibly survived geting shot in the head at point-blank range. And then what happened? He survived. Harry's survival proves two things for this theory:
1) Kingsman films are damn unrealistic. For Harry to have been shot in the eye like that would certainly have been fatal. The existence of "alpha gel", which can apparently treat ANY headshot (even Whiskey's headshot, and that looked even more fatal than Harry's did, with the pistol being just a centimeter away from his head when it shot his temple), is just as unrealistic. With such an unrealistic and fantastical depiction of people surviving wounds that should clearly be fatal, it is perfectly feasible that Merlin could've survived his "fatal" wound.
2) The writers are perfectly willing to bring characters back to life in unrealistic ways. As mentioned above, Harry definitely should have been dead. His revival defies all logic. If the writers were willing to make Harry survive getting shot in the head at point-blank range, then surely they'd be willing to make Merlin survive stepping on a landmine.
It is obvious that Merlin intended to die. He clearly didn't have a plan for survival, yet it is perfectly possible that his equipment did preserve his life anyways.
Also btw Merlin is in the background of the wedding scene in the golden circle movie. Which means he survived the blast
Not true. 20+ year paramedic. Not all shots to the eye socket are fatal, angle matters. As long as the bullet doesn’t enter the brain, you’d be amazed at what people can survive. I know I was…
@@MedPig but the bullet entered whiskeys and harrys brain
@@gtamonkey3061 really? never knew
The awesome song you mention was "Always look on the bright side of life" by Monty Python from "life of brian"
I saw this movie today and this gives James Bond a run for its money.
Yes it was
Spoiler Alert (minor but even so)
I will never ever have a problem with a movie that has a badass finale action scene set to the tune of "Saturday night's alright". Such a good movie. It did have a few flaws and I don't think it was as good as the first one, however I do still think it had superb acting, action scenes and story. I think some of the effects were a bit sup-par but mostly they were good and it didn't ruin the movie at all. There was the return for the brilliant blend of action and comedy and the action scenes really were something else. I can't think of another movie that I think had better action scenes (but that's just my opinion).
Jordan Funnell I liked the first one more too. It's a great movie but it's like Guardian of the galaxy vol.2 it's a great sequel but didn't surpass the first one.
To be honest I kinda felt like Elton John was abit unnecessary but the Brits do love their Elton.
baby driver wasnt good
MERLIN😢😢😢
Almost heaven, West Virginia...
still mad about the mine scene, like come on! i need him to be alive in the next one, oh and roxie too, hopefully she's still alive
Still alive? The entire mansion blew up. She didn't see the missile coming until it was seconds away. There's no way in hell she could have survived that. Then again, I said the same about Harry not being able to survive being shot in the head and they pulled that off too, so what do I know?
Xylarxcode Harry’s was less fatal and technically survivable, it is possible Roxie was able to find cover/hid in a shelter or something, I mean come on we are talking about a mansion where spies use as a base of command.
Rork, The Game Master thats what i was thinking. hopefully they all survived including m.j. (i think thats the name of the pug) and they make a return in kingsman 3
Xylarxcode Harry had Alpha Gel that’s how he survived
In mentioning Princess Tilde's promise in exchange for Eggsy saving the world, how could you leave out Elton John's promise to Harry for a "backstage pass?" That was the best one!
Fucking movie just came out. Of course everyone missed these Easter eggs because barely anyone has seen it yet! Christ at least give us opening weekend!
SZRLM I loved the movie it was amazing
Is anyone forcing you to watch the video?
I watched it yesterday
It came out on wensday
Been out 2 weeks such a great film
in re 'the Reward'... not only was it referenced by Tilde as noted... but there's an interaction between Harry and Elton that is a Direct callback to it... and a case could be made that Tilde/Eggsy being an official couple in the first place takes some of the edge off as it wasn't just a standard Bond-ian 'wham bam, Thank You ma'am'... or as Tilde sites in 2: "Target Practice'
I actually found something that no-one else did (so far) which is:
at the start when they ask if Brandon can look after jb, there is a weed to jungle transition shot. Much like in the first one how it went from the snow-globe to the mountains.
davidinboots1 lol
Damn shame what happened to Whiskey, he was a badass. I wish the just captured him, I mean his actions were fairly justified.
yeah i know right, they said he was a double agent which he wasn't.
@@Charmedsas1 he was a double agent in a way to himself and to statesman, directly he would’ve caused millions and millions of people to die for his own agenda to kill junkies because his wife died to junkies. Capturing him and locking him In a cell for the rest of his life would do nothing more than death which he received.
You forgot to mention how there was a reference in the end that Winston Churchill was a Kingsman
They used the same soundtrack from x men first class 'serenity and rage' in the kingsman when harry regains his memory... I guess its similar as charles tapped into eric's memory to make him strong.. Here egsy reminds harry of mister pickle for recalling everything
Avinash Mallick hey there imdb reader
wow you got a good ear then XD
party is over hahaha... I keep listening to movie scores while working... So✌😄
THANK YOU! I was afraid no one would notice the "rage and serenity" moment. I was overexcited when I head the beginning of the song haha
The two old gentlemen sitting out on the deck of the lodge who were shown screaming too? A nod to 'I Spy' perhaps? The reference to "there also used to be a phone in the shoe too" said by Harry when he gave Eggsy the oxfords was a nod to 'Get Smart'.
In the final fight scene with Whiskey, Harry saves Eggsy by shooting the lasso rope, to free it from his neck. This is such a classic Clint Eastwood move from 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly': arguably the best cowboy wild west movie there ever was.
Seeing as the Statesmen were classic westies, this was obviously an Easter Egg that went completely unchecked.
The dogs appearance are a reference to the original Ceylon in battlestar galactica. It goes with poppys whole retro theme
Spoiler: Elton John had a bigger role in the movie than Channing Tatum
Yeah, I missed these Easter Eggs because I was too busy...crying.
Wait, what.... "the one with young Michael Caine"... huh??? Did I miss something? I swear that wasn't in the movie I saw at all. Granted, I saw a pre-release screener, but does that mean a flashback scene with a young Michael Caine has been added to the theatrical cut???
WeegieMovies
A short one, yes. It shows the moment he shot his dog.
It was a special effect done for a planned scene where Michael Caine's character would be seen doing spy shit in the 70's. It only exists as a still image, which you see in this video. It's a good likeness.
Yuval A. Birman that is _not_ Michael Caine... he was the bad Kingsman that died in the first one by Eggsy swapping the poison drink. You are thinking of Colin Firth whom is Harry/Galahad Sr. The movie showed Colin Firth shooting Mr. Pickles in a quick flashback.
they also played on the promise about saving the world that Eggsy got, when Harry asked Elton if he could have two tickets if they save the world and Elton told him he could have a back stage pass so basically a pun bassed on what was said in that situation in the first film
In the Kingsman comic, it was Lancelot who used the snowmobile thing. In the comic, Lancelot wasn't killed my Gazelle, he tried to use the Union Jack parachute thing when they jumped off a cliff on the snowmobile and it didn't deploy. It wasn't Eggsy.
Finally had the time to watch the movie and it was just as fun as the first. But there were two references to the butt stuff in this one. The one you mentioned, where Tilde reminded Eggsy what he'll get if he saves the world AND when Sir Elton told Harry he could have a backstage pass.
How about the nod to Johnny English in the Word Up scene???
I love this movie, and this video made me enjoy it even more. Cheers m8
I honestly always loved that scene at the end of the first movie (though it technically isn't the final scene, because there's a scene right at the beginning of the end credits). I thought it was hilarious. I never understood why people were so up in arms about it lol
Ay_dree_n
Frankly, it's only pop-culture videos like this where I hear that it was "controversial". All people I know either didn't care for it or noted how funny it was.
It was hilarious to me because I first saw it on FX edited. Then later rented it on Amazon and was like " oh my God that's hysterical " 🤣 people need to lighten up, so many more things to get your panties twisted over!!!
did anyone notice that in 22 jump street, channing tatum's rugby uniform says "statesman" and in this he is a statesman
I hope we get a third. I ADORE these movies. ❤️
Machine Gun briefcase is from El Mariachi / Desperado which had a machine gun / rocket launcher briefcase. From Russia With Love only had a knife in the briefcase. When I saw the trailer for the new Kingsman I instantly recognised the El Mariachi / Desperado connection, never in a million years would I have thought of From Russia With Love. Perhaps you have never seen El Mariachi / Desperado?
Just came home from watching this and I noticed most of them
Mac Sauce good job :)
I'm fairly certain the opening fight has a reference to top gear in it. after the taxi changes into 'drift mode', eggs drifts around the Cenotaph in London. Back in 2016, top gear caught some flack for a bit in which a guy did doughnuts around the Cenotaph, with the scene ultimately being cut from the broadcast.
Also in "The Bitch is Back" scene, the camera zooms over that sigh right as Charlie reappears and attacks Eggsy
I thought it was a nod go Bond in the opening fight scene when he tried to shoot Eggsy with a literal Golden Gun
I love how Elton is in kingsman but then a year later Taron plays Elton in Rocket man
To good
Well towards the end Harry asks Elton can he get tickets to his next show, but Elton said he can get backstage passes, A reference to when Eggsy asked the princess in the cell a 'similar' question.
this one was so good
I noticed quite a few in this film 😍
watched it an hour ago and the feels are still fresh, rip merlin : (
Just seen this in theaters and it was really good
Just watched it today its really good
Isn't the briefcase more reminiscent to the mariachi guitar cases in Desperado by Robert Rodriguez, featuring Antonio Banderas?
Yes Bennie and the Jets! I wasnt the only one that daw it
Elton john = friend, hilarious!!!!
rocket maaaan :D :D
No one's going to mention "Clara" and "River?"
oh shit... totally missed that one... damn I'm impressed.
Wait WHEN
"Darling, if you save the world you can get a backstage pass."
Was the young Michael Cane scene in directors cut or somtehing? I didnt catch it in the film
I seriously loved this movie...reviews had me worried....but it was wesome and the kingsman is quickly becoming my favorite film series....heres to more craziness in the next installment bruv
Another Bond reference moght be when Eggsy shows up in his replacement car after the opening chase sequence, the license plate starts with a J and ends with a B. I think it's even JMY (he's referred to as Jimmy by the American CIA in Goldeneye).
I loved the both movies i want another one
*How does this channel have high quality footage of the film?*
Here's an Easter egg that was missed. The song "Country Road" by John Denver was in three other movies that was released in the past calendar year, Alien:Covenant, Logan Lucky and the Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The Estate of the late John Denver greatly appreciates the donation
Just saw the movie and loved it.
I went in to labor watching this movie last Friday. Literally while we were in the theater. Of course I finished watching the movie, though. THEN I went to the hospital
Yes you missed 1 :) when they go to the music festival there are 3 bodyguards. the middle on ask for there ticket, but ife you regonize that guy. That person is Martin Ford also known as The Nightmare :)
Loved the movie soooo much💕💕💕
“Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia
Mountain mamma, take me home
Country roads” RIP Merlin 😢
One other easter egg you missed: Taron Egerton covered Elton John's I'm Still Standing in Sing
Forgot the scene where Elton says to Harry what he'll get if he saves the world. D:
Honestly, if they wanted to make a sister service to the Kingsmen and call it Statesman, you could at least give them names like 'Washington', 'Roosevelt', 'Carver' instead of fucking alcohol names. It's not like the Kingsmen are named after pieces of suits...-____-
Yeah but isn't statesmen a least a few hundred years old? Also most of the early presidents were...well, pretty ass, from a modern day perspective.
Plus I thought the boozy names worked better for their organization, just from a "cool" perspective.
That's all just my opinion though.
Yeah lmao if anything name the statesman after States or presidents
Kingsman knight of the round table. A British thing.. where as statesman with liquor when name do drinks
It doesn't even need to be the names of presidents. It could be the names of famous Americans. I just don't quite understand why they used alcohol beverages. I thought it was a stupid way to introduce the brother service of Kingsmen.
Same, that annoyed me. Should've used presidents or the original signers of the Declaration of Independence...That would've been much better.
I just wanna say they could have just knocked out Whiskey instead of killing him.
I though got ideal from once upon time in new mexico. The gutar case missle luncher and michine gun.🤷♂️
Love the movie!!!!!
What about those baseball grenades. Damm, easter eggs, easter eggs never changes
What about the part where Elton John tells Colin Firth that "If you save the world, you can have a backstage pass."
Whisky intentions were almost similar to the US President's intentions... but whisky gets grinded into a meat ball and the President just hand cuffed... that just shows power of having money rite there
Whisky had it personal with a real good motive. His death was unnecessary... Harry and and Eggsy should just beat him up and take him to the Statesman HQ I'm sure he could redeem himself.
Whisky was also trying kill both Eggsy and Harry. Unless I missed that scene of the President attempting to slice Eggsy in two.
NinjaPro807 he just wanted the case... if they would have handed it over why would he try to kill them! Btw he even saved them (single handadly) in the snow fight scene.. he just broke the bottle and dint actually wanted to kill the kingsmen.
His back story atleast was better then the Presidents... which i guess was not there at all.
Was just saying there was inequality of justice... they could have just defeated whisky and may be he could have been back in some sequal like a changed man... more like the Fast n Furious movies... all villians eventually become a part of Dom' s family 😉
I don’t think even people with money and power can win over the president... but it’s the thought that counts
In the comic book, Eggsy doesn't launch missiles on a snow mobile. It was the previous Lancelot who did that
I swear that Whisky was a nod to Burt Reynolds...couldn't get past that
Where can i find that you g micheal cane scene?
We always have the best spies, Bond and Kingsmen
The extra reward is referenced twice. when Galahad Sr. asks Elton John if he can have tickets to his next show, Elton replies "Darling, If you save the world, you can have a backstage pass."
That wasn't Eggsy in the original comic doing that missile thing, That was some random secret agent doing it
It isn't out yet in denmark
in the graphic novel it isn't Eggsy on the snowmobile, but another agent who dies in the same sequence along with mark Hamill.
I had to say this somewhere, I thought it was hilarious when Eggzy says he has to sleep with this other woman in order to save the world. Silly boys do wonder about such hypotheticals and this movie actually went there xD
i am still in my tear about merlin
Bring Merlin and Roxy back or I'll boycott the third film. :(
DioMa just Merlin, Roxy wasn't a big enough character
Calvin Ogden JB , Roxy , Brandon Everyone else who died
Is Halle Berry's Ginger Ale character a reference to her Swordfish character Ginger?
More likely it's a reference to ginger ale being a common mixer with Whisky. Much like Merlin is the only non-knight code name, Ginger Ale is the only non-alcoholic name of the Statesman.
Johnny Doe yeah but Author is not a knight either. He's a king with his knights of the round table
he's also technically a knight in most Arthurian legends.
They referenced the final scene again when Elton John told Harry if he saved the world he could have backstage passes.
Oh come on,i must have not been the only one who expected *Morgan Freeman* to show up,everything was possible !
_Great movie btw_ :)
YES FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS TARON EGERTON’S NAME RIGHT!!!!!!
I noticed the Benny and Jet Easter egg. That's why I came here to see more
Good job forgetting to connect the 'backstage pass' joke that Elton John made in reference to saving the world. But don't worry, those of us who saw the movie can get the references correct. "Made the same joke! Again!" That's such lazy scripting.
Tyler Lindsey-Delise Oh no they made the same joke again! Gah now I have to comment on how the whole movie has lazy scripting!
Ryan Cruz I don't even know if you actually read my comment.
I did and I love you
Ryan Cruz lol
Came here to say that.
The brief case gun, and rocket case were both part of the 1995 movie Desperado
RoboDogs, Elton John, and a dancing disease!
Cool movie
It wasn’t Whiskey that was in the ski lift with Eggsy, it was Tequila in that scene.
When I saw the shield i immediately thought of Woodward's cross
There's a little bit of misinformation here. The scene from the comic involving 3 rockets wasn't actually Eggsy at all. It was the agent who died trying to rescue Mark Hamill from James Arnold's goons. This was long before Eggsy's Uncle Jack told him to become a spy for MI6.
