We changed up ours this year too. My oldest daughter helped me put together the most amazing history curriculum by combining readers we had, spines from story of the world, mystery of history, and in depth books we felt were really important then added memory work from veritas?, timelines, maps, and movies/activities and organized it by weeks. She took her summer off to help me!💕 For the first time in 17 years of homeschooling I finally found a history I love. I also started using Mom Delights McGuffey Language and gentle grammar and her reading program cards. We combined this with EP/Robinson booklist and Vocabulary. I finally feel like I can see what I like about certain curriculums and take what I like from it without getting stuck with the whole thing? But, you got me thinking about that learn to read workbook.....hmmmm. If only I could make all my stuff more portable too! Lol. Anyways, thanks for a cool haul video.

This may seem odd, but with Andrea having been taken so abruptly...emotionally focusing on happy things for a bit and going light in school may allow us time to reflect, breathe, cry, and work on being mothers and teachers that Andrea would be proud to know she encouraged. I have been so broken hearted...and it made me really ponder about what if this was the last week I had with my children...what is it really I would want them to know.
Also, I am so excited for your new year...I looks awesome and fun!

I love how you placed the kids where they needed to be regardless of level #. We chose master books for my “4th grader” bc it was a more gentle approach and it satisfied my catholic-schooled husband,s desire to know the kids aren’t “behind”, she is in their level 4, still working on him. 😉

Hey Trish, we use CLE and love it. It was your videos who got us to try( yeard ago). I tried ACE last year and one of daughters didnt retain very much at all. To work threw LA 3 quickly for her, I ordered the extra pages and TM. I just teach the topics she is having trouble with and we move on. About half way threw in a month, she is having no issues grasping the issues and there will be a n more review in LA 4. Just an idea someone from the CLE Facebook group shared with me. Thanks for all your videos, they are super helpful. I loved your Andrea videos. I have been following her for years as well. Heartbreaking for sure.

This is so smart Trish, I think this is exactly what you need this year!! You always talk about how you like CLE and I think with building a house, moving into the new house when done and organizing and settling in, this is a very smart choice for this year!! I agree, no energy, or time or space for anything else. Prayers for you this school year!

Hi Trish first time here, subscriber to Andreas channel. I'm a homeschooling mom to 8 , schooling only 6 , one graduated last year one too little.tried Saxon and abeka math , no thankyou. I have used horizon math and phonics , bju grammar for k-6 this has always worked for us for the basics. Your ninth grader sounds like my daughter very independent learner. Actually we call her our unschooler because ahe does so much on her own that interests her. Thanks for sharing your curriculum picks.

I ordered ACE English and Word Builders 2 days ago. I was like "Trish stop making me second guess myself." Bahaha! I do love CLE though. It was perfect for my daughter all the way up to high school. She did LA, Bible, and Math. My 8 year old needs to have something attached to the information in a creative way to make it stick and he isn't a sit still type, so I just don't think he could handle the LA. It is excellent but intense. Love your videos.

This year I have a 3rd grader and 2 first graders. Then I also have a 3 year old who will be 4 in Nov, I will be having our 5th baby in January and we are hosting 2 exchange students this year. So much crazy for one school year. I am nervous about going into this new year.

I've been using Christian Light Education since 2011. I love CLE. It had been around since the 50's, I believe. It is also the most affordable curriculum out there.
This year I decided to use some different curriculum such as, ACE Biology. I did so after I saw Andrea Mills (very sad about her...love her so much 😭) using ACE Biology that is done with DVD'S. Have you used ACE Biology? I am curious to know what people think of it.
I also LOVE Learning to Read...it is the best!!! In my opinion. I've taught special needs kids how to read using Learning to Read.
Those book holders from Christian Light Education really are durable. I first bought mine in 2011 and thet are still being used.
Great haul and video! Thank you!!!

Hello Trish! My baby is only 3.5 but has some big speech issues (she is seeing a therapist once a week for speech help) and I am thinking into the future here as far as teaching her to read. Was CLE the curriculum you used to help your son with speech issues learn to read? I used Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading for my two older kids without any issues, but they did not have any problems with articulation. I believe I may need something more intense for my little girl and I want to have a curriculum in mind so that when she shows signs of reading readiness I can be ready to go for her! Thanks so much for all the lovely and very informative information you out out to help all of us!!! ❤

Im wondering if I should do kindergarten 1? teaching her reading seems like it would be a struggle Ive tried with Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons? Did not go too well. Jo is my 4 year old and im thinking the Rod and Staff preschool and read aloud. What do you think?
