Thank you for watching! What curriculum are you using for elementary kids? What are some of your budget-friendly tips for purchasing curriculum?

Looks amazing! Yes we've just changed our LA to CLE for my oldest
Plan on switching everyone over fresh at the new year
Bju is certainly solid as well!!

I also use Ebay for BJU materials. So far this is the third year I’ve been doing that and it’s worked really well and saved a bunch of money. 👍🏻💰

I always tell people that my first born is my Guinea pig 🤣 they get to try out all the curriculums that don’t work so we can find what works for ourselves as a teacher and our kids! I’m right there with you tho, changing out things this month for my first born (3rd grader). I always feel so guilty like he isn’t getting the education he should be because it seems like come February I’m finally letting go of what wasn’t working and trying to find something that will.
But, you are doing an amazing job! And being able to let go of something that isn’t working to find what will is the best thing we can do💙 praying this is the curriculum you’ve been looking for! 😄

There is a newer edition for BJU English 3. You can get it on Rainbow Resource. They release it on their regular website before it gets sold on the BJU Homeschool website. I’m not sure why they do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just got mine yesterday on RR. 😊
We use BJU for Bible, English and Science. I’m the same way…I love traditional curriculum for some subjects, but Literature based for History. We use Sonlight. 👍🏻☺️😀

Commented before and coming back. We switched our English, reading, and math to BJU and have loved it. I’m switching a younger and I’m thinking of doing half second/half and then moving to third. Did this work out for you guys?

Yes, I love used books. I bought all my teachers books used on ebay and saved so much money!!!

  • @HerChildrenCallHerBlessed

I've done BJU kinder 2x. From samples it looks like you could add the new phonic practice just fine. You may have to adjust a bit but probably wouldn't be hard. Also, I've used the phonic practice as a stand alone because it's literally just phonics practice. Point being if you really wanted it I think you could make the new one work! I'll add I have also tried 3 or 4 other kinder programs, I have lots of kiddos, BJU remains my favorite it just took more time. I've been debating going back to it for my next.

Did you guys end up loving BJU English? I’m very tempted to switch what we’re using for my three younger kids and have not fully decided.

So far, we love it. I switched to video lesson instead of parent-led and I love it even more!

I’m think about making the switch from MB math to BJU. We are in MB level 1 about 3/4 through. Any help on which level we should go into with BJU? I’m don’t have anything against MB, but I’m so love the option of test you were talking about. Thank you

    • @DaninaFarmsNina
      @DaninaFarmsNina  Před 2 lety

I have found that MB is a level behind BJU. If you level down in BJU you may find that somethings in the beginning are review. We just move more quickly through the things they already know. But there was enough new in the level down that it was worth it to back up a level in BJU when coming from Master Books to make sure they really understood the concepts before moving on in BJU.

So we are weird. We started with MB level 1 then moved to bju math 1 and we will be moving to MB 2 and then bju press math 2.
My kids love bju press math.
    We prefer the third edition
