    The fact that you tried 4 other reading programs and settled on this one speaks volumes for the effectiveness of this one. It looks like it's really comprehensive.

    Thank you for showing this! I would have never considered it. I am excited to use this with my upcoming first grader. He loves workbooks and wants his own "chapter" books like his older brothers.

    This sounds exactly like what we need right now. We have been struggling with reading with my middle child. Please switch to Cle math because of one of your videos and it was a perfect fit for her. Now it looks like we might need to switch to the reading for her as well. Also I wanted to mention that we are a My Father's World family and I taught my oldest daughter to read beautifully with kindergarten and first. But I have struggled so much with my middle girl with reading

    Hello! I am currently do this with my son and we are loving it. But I’m wondering what you would do after completing this curriculum. I’m not sure if I want to continue with CLE reading and LA because it’s just a lot and I’m not sure I want a program so heavy on grammar in the early years. I’m just just curious what you will do next with your son.

    Thank you for doing this! I know it’s an older video but I am coming from doing All about reading level 1 with my youngest struggling reader we have tried master books and now AAR she loves the hands on but hates the fluency sheets and shuts down! I was thinking after we finish the first level to switch to CLE because of the extra practice and the LA portion. I was thinking you did AAR with one of yours also? I am so torn!

      Hi Miranda I am 5 lessons away from finishing aar 1 and my son hated the fluency sheets. I am thinking of switching to cle also, because of the LA portion and extra practice, that AAR did not seem to provide

      I totally went a different direction once researching it I went with BJU press first grade phonics/la and reading, spelling. I found a great deal on the teachers manuals and got the students stuff new. Praying if works for us! My oldest will be using CLE La and reading for 5th grade brand new to it so praying I made the right choice! Why does it have to be so hard? 😬

    You said you have been through four until you found this one, I am curious what the struggles were. My kiddo is struggling, she was behind from public school and I feel like we need to start w foundations again, but she is in third already! She struggles w blending and sounding out letters in a word even though she very much knows her sounds for each letter. We plan to also have her tested to see what else may be an issue, but I need something new for her.

    You mentioned using MFW for your older son...I have done the same and I’m considering trying This one w my kindergartener in the next few months. Could you give a comparison of the reading program from each? Did MFW not work for your younger son and why? (I’m familiar w CLE as I’m using LA 2 for my older son).

    • @PenniesAndSalt
      @PenniesAndSalt  Před 4 lety +2

      I LOVE MFW for Kindergarten! It has and always will have a sweet spot in my heart. My oldest did excellent with it. It’s super gentle but effective and we added in explode the code half way through and he really took off. However, my son that I mentioned it not working for more than likely has dyslexia. We haven’t had him officially tested yet and likely won’t because we are using and finding the tactics that work for him.
      Learning to Read wouldn’t be for kindergarten, it’s meant for 1st/2nd grade.
      MFW is a Charlotte Mason inspired, all inclusive curriculum. If you are looking at 1st grade MFW I wasn’t a big fan of their Phonics but I LOVED the rest, especially Bible.

    Did you do the CLE kindergarten? We completed the kind 1 and now are doing the kind 2 but my kid seems bored. She already know all letter sounds and is starting to sound out words. She's about to be 6. Do you think we can skip kind 2 and start this one?

  • @chelseaann404

    Do you have suggestions for new homeschool mom's to not get overwhelmed by this curriculum? It seems like so much to do. We are going to be using this but I am already feeling overwhelmed by teaching this. I am probably just working myself up..

    • @PenniesAndSalt
      @PenniesAndSalt  Před 3 lety +2

      It can definitely feel overwhelming. Once you get into it, it really does become less intensive on the teaching end just because you've gotten used to the activities and methods. My biggest advice would be; if it feels overwhelming, cut lessons short at natural breaks. This is a curriculum that you could easily use over a course of 1 1/2-2 years rather than cramming it all into 1. If there are parts that need to be reviewed, take time to review or solidify then move back into it. Find your rhythm and make it work for you. 😀 I hope that helps!

    I know your son is older now, but looking back would you choose this for a child with dyslexia over another program? Or is there something you think would work better then this?

    • @PenniesAndSalt
      @PenniesAndSalt  Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly… no. I think it’s an amazing and thorough program and excellent even for a child who is a struggling reader. However, with dyslexia, a program using the Orton Gillingham or Barton method are ideal.
