For the timed drills, you could also have them see how long it takes them to do all the problems and record it. They can try to improve their time.
Yes! That's a great idea! 😁
Thanks for showing this curriculum to us. I love to see what other homeschooling families are using. 😊
I like that the flash cards come in boxes 📦
I have friends who have raved about this but never looked into it before thanks for showing us more about it.
Thanks for posting this! I’ve never homeschooled before and this has been VERY helpful
I'm so glad it was helpful! This is a great curriculum to start with!
These flip throughs are so helpful, thanks!
Thank you!
I have used this curriculum a lot and my kids and I love it!
That's so great! It's such a good curriculum!
Thank you for this overview. Very helpful!
I'm so glad it helped!
This was such a thorough review, thank you!!
Thank you!
Thank you for this review! I just recently heard about this curriculum, and I was already wanting to purchase it. But after seeing your review, I definitely think this will be a great fit for us. I've been homeschooling 6 years, and the biggest subject I struggle with teaching is math. So I'm really glad I found this. Thanks again! I just subbed to your channel. 🙂🙂
I’m so glad this was helpful! We really love CLE! Thanks for subscribing! ❤️
Hello I have been loving your channel thank you for the flip through! I am very interested in CLE. How many lessons are in third grade math? Also how long do you think it takes to complete a lesson per day?
Thank you!
There are 17 lessons…2 of those are quizzes, one is a test, and the last one is a fun activity lesson. It really depends on the child about how long a lesson might take…I have one child that could be done in 15-20 min, and I have one who, on a hard day might take 40 minutes. So it’s really hard to say.
@@ourthriftyhomeschool ok thank you! Is it a typical 180 day curriculum?
I know you have said that you don't like to teach math 🙋♀️ same here. I wanted to know if CLE does a good job in helping you as the teacher teach your students? Especially for the upper grades. How do you feel teaching 7th or 8th grade math went for your girls? Do you feel that the teachers guide explained it well for you so you in turn could effectively teach your children?
I have really enjoyed watching your CLE flip throughs and REVIEWS!
I have also heard you say that their lessons are long which is why (in previous years) you took a break from CLE. Looking back would you have stayed with cle or were you and your kids glad to have left cle and then come back?
It does look like a great thorough curriculum. Thanks for your time in making these videos.
I love CLE for the elementary years. I may have thought different about the upper years if we hadn’t bounced around in the middle there. I think if you stuck with it all the way, the upper grades would be great. We just struggled a little bc of changing and coming back especially with Math.
I have found a couple curriculum that are a better fit for us for jr high and high school, but I wouldn’t change our time with CLE! Such a great foundation!
I’m debating on Christian life or rod and staff. I Have 2nd, 5th and 7th grader. So hard to to decide. Looking for more self taught vs more teacher involved.
I have never used Rod and Staff, but from what I've heard, Christian Light is usually the favorite of the two. Very self taught!
Thank you so much for your feedback 😊
@@Snegirev1 I'm familiar with both, Rod and Staff is taught by a teacher, and CLE is self taught
I have this curriculum at my school
That’s great! ❤️
What is the highest 'grade/level' you have used for this...my daughter will be in 5th....and is a strong student...curious how it is for that grade...
We have used up to level 4. But we will be using it again this year for levels 6, 5, and 3.
I have found it to be a very strong program!
Is this on grade level or advanced? The 3rd grade student book looks more challenging then other 3rd grade curriculums for Math that I have seen.
I believe it is pretty advanced compared to some curriculums and to public school. It is very thorough and challenging, but not too much, in my opinion.
Is the teachers book a must with 2-3 grade? Your opinion.
In my opinion, yes...but mostly just for grading. It makes grading a breeze! The lessons themselves are usually easy enough to teach or for the kids to understand by just reading the lesson in their light unit.
Do you use CL for all your subjects?
We have used it for math, language, and reading over the years.
I am a kid who was introduced to this late in the curriculum. There are a lot of confusing points and even some contradictions. The books also do not provide all that you will need to solve the basic problems. This has caused many headaches and irritation. Would recommend if you are starting from the beginning. If your kid is above 7th grade and you are considering getting into this, please spare your child the endless confusion and find another curriculum.
I’m so sorry you had a bad experience with this. My kids were all young when we started using CLE, so that wasn’t a problem for us, but I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I hope you found something that works for you!
@@ourthriftyhomeschool I am glad it works for you. Keep caring for your kids as best you can. I can garentee they will be thankful. One of the reasons why this is so confusing to me is I do it by myself, and most of the conceptsare foreign to me. I know you being there for your kids will help them grow into great people. Have a nice day.
Did you do the placement test for CLE math?
@@foreverhomesteading6629 I dont think so.
The first unit is all review of the previous year, without much instruction if any. If you used the diagnostic/placement test to get the right level to start, your student should be able to read it and do it mostly independently. If they have difficulty, there's usually some help in the Teacher's Guide to help you explain it.
