I acquired lymphedema 52 years ago, at age 14. A surgeon removed a small lypoma on my back; when I came out of surgery, I felt so sick! Nurses came in and replaced one drain after another in the incision: I caught the London flu while there, so that didn't help matters. I hoped that all would be fine, but as I got older I found that I was getting unusually bigger all over. It wasn't until 2010 that I was finally diagnosed with stage 4 lymphedema. In May/June 2023, I went through another serious trauma.. and 3 abscesses appeared over an increasingly large seroma. One spewed pus, then a thick, sticky, opaque substance.. old lymph fluid. After several weeks, and ER visits, a PA squeezed and pushed to clear the abscess. What came out looked like a brown cigar, with tiny white dots all over it! It was a decayed drain that was left in!!! All these years I suffered so much.. facing ridicule for my size. And the was my answer.. a plug in my lymph system! I had to go on disability at 49. And now, I'm alone, struggling to care for myself. Any options?

I’m so sorry for what you went through , if doctors don’t do their job . God is the only one can change our pain and suffering. I never heard about this disease until while ago I saw this video , and right the way I remember my sister her feet and legs are getting bigger and bigger and she can’t walk without walker , they told her years ago you have rheumatoid arthritis. But the way I see her ankle and feet are so large and painful swollen. Now I know for sure is this disease effecting her feet legs and even hands 😢😢😢I just can say try not to think too much and give it to God’s hand he is able to heal .

I had mild lymphodema in both of my lower legs, however, it has gotten much worse since I had many treatments for superficial blood clots. I had a DVT and PE about nine years ago, so they watch my legs very carefully. The lymphedema is so much worse now that I had all of those ablation procedures. Very frustrating. My legs hurt at night, even though I wear compression socks, most of the time.

I'm a massage therapist that has been practicing Dr. Vodder's MLD for 2yrs at my spa. Do you know anything about Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage and whether this is a valid and effective technique? There are guests at the spa that come in expecting this and are a bit confused when they get our service and I'm trying to get info about it from as many reliable resources as I can.
