- Karen has always been one of my favorite mousketeers, but I never realized Jimmy Dodd wrote a song for her until I found it recently on an old Mickey Mouse Club record. Enjoy!

"She's an angel in the skies, that Karen..."
May she rest in peace - always such a sweetheart! Praying for her family.
Karen Anita Pendleton (August 1, 1946 - October 6, 2019)...
May she R.I.P.
I'm 72 years old and boy, did I want curls like Karen's. If I live to be a hundred I'll never have curls like Karen's. Luckily CZcams gives me the opportunity to envy them any time I want ;)
Rest in Peace, Karen Pendleton

I just found this and it MADE MY DAY. When I was a little kid I loved Karen ( the older woman in my life ) as she was 9 and I was 7. Anyway, at that young age I used to pick her up with my fingers off the TV screen and carry her around in my front pocket... a little strange according to my mother. It's been 60 years and seeing this clip brought back the feeling. I wish her luck in all she does and am sure she realizes all the joy she spread, then and now with her heartwarming smile.
Every one of these beautiful gangs hits my heart. Karen is one of the great giants that is a brave & strong soul. But Jimmy Dodds is one of favorite of the male purity Angels
That is me Karen, aka Mary Moynihan of Ceveland, Ohio.
If only I can visit California this September!
what a sweetie!!! What a super tribute. She was definitely one of my favorites.
For those that don't know, Karen was in a car accident in 1983 and has been in a wheelchair ever since. Although she's not dancing anymore, she went on to finish college and has done a lot of work for causes relating to disabled people. You can see her dancing in the 1980 Mickey Mouse Club Reunion TV Special, which is also here on YT.
They say you can't go home but when I visit Disneyland and see the original parts, it brings all these fond memories back. Ya, in some good ways you can go home.
What a relief to see the name Karen used in a NICE way! RIP Karen.
She was just so cute! She was my favorite. I think they featured her because she was the smallest member. I have no memory of this song!
Favorites: Annette. Karen. Darlene. Bobby. Jimmy. Cubby. ... All during a very much more wonderful and much more innocent Era🕊️❗🕊️
R.I.P. Karen.
Very sad news. Adorable Karen passed away yesterday at age 73 😥

Karen was also my favorite...I love you Karen.....
Goodbye to my childhood crush. I hope she is walking again.
She is man ❤️
Karen Pendleton was darling in the Mickey Mouse Club. After the show ended in 1958,Karen and Cubby were offered a chance to stay with Disney for a while-but Karen's parents said no.
Rest peacefully Karen you’re very missed xx
What a sweet song!
@tlabrier If you would like to see the release of full season sets of the original Mickey Mouse Club, raise your hand.
What a wonderfull tribute!
Loved those corkscrew curls!
Jimmie Dodd was a songwriter by trade. He wrote most of the music that you hear on the Mickey Mouse Club.
Karen Pendleton was one of only nine who were with the Mickey Mouse Club (MMC) for its entire run. After the show ended, she did a couple of MMC-related tours and left show business.
loved this!thanks for finding it and sharing!
Jimmy Dodd is one of the reasons why Elliot Easton played guitar 🎸
Thank you Dac719, I enjoyed this, with Karen, that was nice and nice of you my friend.
That's wonderful!
Thank you.
We know that Jimmie Dodd wrote a song about Karen. I've read that he also wrote a song about Annette.. and I KNOW that he wrote a song about Darlene as well (I've seen a picture of the sheet music)..but does anyone know if these songs about Annette and Darlene were recorded, or did Jimmy sing these songs on the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB ? Thanks~
+FASinatra1 Jimmie's "Annette" song was recorded (and it was featured on one of the Mickey Mouse Club episodes) but i'm not sure about Darlene's.
FASinatra1 Do you know where I could find the sheet music for the Darlene song online?!
Thanks!
I remember a song called "When I Grow Up" by; KP. Where is this song?? RIP KAREN PENDLETON.
“When I Grow Up” was sung by Darlene Gillespie. There’s a video of her performing the song on the MMC here on CZcams
You did a great job cleaning up the song. You'ld think it was a digital remaster. I had this on an album, from 1962.
Cubby. And Karen make a cute cuple
Farewell Karen Pendleton
❤️❤️❤️❤️🐦❤️❤️
Karen is a Character from "The Red Shoes!"
I had a crush on Karen.
Ciao For Now Karen Pendleton.
"She an angel in the sky"... Wait a minute! As far as I know she is still ALIVE!
Sadly, she died at 73.
They won't, because they want to release it as a DVD collection first, and they know that if they re-run it, everybody will record it, and they'll lose revenue. Sad as it is to say, Disney is all about money.
Poor Karen's in Heaven
Wish she had married Cubby. They were so cute!
does anyone happen to know the lyrics? i’ve tried searching for them but i don’t think the internet has them. 😕
Going back to the very first season. I was 5 while Karen was 8. I rather doubt that both of us were remotely interested in being a couple with the opposite sex at that young an age. From 8, Karen went to 9, 10, 11, 12. Gee, even 12 was too young an age to be remotely interested in boys in the 6th grade. At those young ages, boys stuck with boys and girls hanged out with other girls. While Disney came up with plenty of song and dance routines, I rather doubt that Karen was remotely interested in Cubby at that young an age. Yet, here we see, so to speak, Hollywood trying to force adult behavior upon young children back in 1955. Fast forward to today, and look at the mess that the country is in. Gee, I wonder?
Join the club.
if you recieve i pray you are doing good may God bless you
Hey Karen, you do not knw me but I know you as so many others --Annette , I just learned has gone to visit Mr. Disney. I hope you are well!. Google for fun: CZcams-norman & Heidi-Ho.
best wishes,
onofrio norman clementi
The other girls were jealous of her? Don't think so. Jimmy was exaggerating a trifle when he wrote this.
They may have envied her hair a bit.
Who else was creeped out by Jimmy & Roy?
What a pity that Walt Disney never allowed any black kids to be Mouseketeers, so that they too could feel "as welcome as can be". What a good and deep and profound change that might have had on the world, how mournful that such an opportunity was lost.
One thing about those days is that for sure the color of the skin played a big part in auditions . Now a days you see latinos and blacks taking part in kids programs , but those days it seems like they didn't get the opportunity .
This made my day! Thank you💜
