    Can you imagine a childrens
    Program on tv today featuring
    A.song.dedicated to our
    Heavenly father
    And giving thanks for all
    We have?
    God is not relevant anymore
    Back in the 50s we took it
    All for granted
    How could we.foresee the
    Change in our society
    I'm so glad that I did live and
    Take part in that era

    It's interesting how musically the show was more of a reflection of these kids parents generation than the mid to late fifties. This could just as well be a clip from a 1942 musical short then anything contemporary.

    Darlene was the one who should have emerged as the break-out star. She had all the talent and personality. But Annette, who couldn't sing a lick and could barely carry a tune, had the hit record with Tall Paul. And she obviously had some powerful people behind her putting her in the best serials etc. Darlene just didn't get the breaks. But nursing is a noble profession, I admire her for doing that. Still, I wish her talent had gotten its due. I think these CZcams videos are finally giving her the recognition she deserves.

      720Lizzy it wasn't Annette's fault. She had on-screen charm which caused viewers to like her more and more everyday. Annette actually admitted that she shouldn't have been a singer in the first place. As for Darlene, Disney's manipulation of her career so as not to compete with Annette's was actually dead-wrong. Annette had nothing to do with it. She had always been humble.

    I had a pair of those mouse ears. I wore them on my first date. My date thought at 16, I may have been, a bit old to keep wearing them! My mom suggested that I leave them at home while on my honeymoon, when I was 25.

    Darlene was very talented. It's a shame her show business career didn't go much past the Mickey Mouse Club.

    • @chrisbanner183
      @chrisbanner183 Před 7 lety +2

      I bit of both i imagine. She wasn't unique enough to stand out and the lack of demand for her talents induced cynicism and anonymity ensued. She became a nurse and that was the worst thing of all. She had to take out those dirty chamber pots and wipe the shit away. Darlene must have thought '' what the fuck happened to me? ''.

    • @DudeEM
      @DudeEM Před 7 lety +2

      cricketrecords one of the problem with Darlene was her on-screen energetic persona didn't translate to her pictures. After being absent for a while due to sickness, she came back with a shock that Annette was now top girl. The damage caused by her absence turned out to be irreversible with Disney favoring Annette above everyone else.

      Chris Banner Next time you are sick,YOU HAD BETTER BE GLAD TO HAVE A NURSE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU. Other wise you are going to be in deep shit. I am the daughter of a nurse and a granddaughter of one. NURSES BUST THEIR ASSES TO TAKE CARE OF IDIOTS LIKE YOU.

      I second your sentiment. Miss Gillespie did not have the show business luck that Miss Funicello had, but Miss Gillespie became part of a revered profession. Go , Nurses.
