I always enjoyed when they gave out the Mouska Ears....;)

This is one of my favorite Talent Roundup Day shows, because Palmer and Crowe were truly talented musicians, Bonni and Mary were such great dancers (they are also among my favorites - truly underrated yet so awesome!), Mark was such a cool disk jockey, and Darlene's impressions of musical styles were well-done. I still enjoy the MMC, and hopefully Disney will have the courage to release more of the show...

I honestly feel like any Mouseketeer that wasn't on the show for all three seasons is underrated. The nine mainstays (plus Cheryl and maybe Dennis) get too much credit. There were other cast members that sing circles around Annette or dance just as good as Sharon Bobby or Lonnie (maybe even better). Bonni and Mary S. were definitely two of the most talented kids on the show, and it's too bad that they only stayed for the first year. (Even though Mary returned for a season 2 talent roundup show)

MickeyMouseClubChannel I do feel that the lack of released footage (especially today, when there's so much to be seen that wasn't shown in over 60 years), the more focus given to the Red Team (which has a limit of twelve that could've been expanded to at least fourteen given the talent pool that first year), and prevalence of fan mail as a possible deciding factor gave way to the underrated status of those who stayed for only one season. (I also believe that while he stayed for two seasons, Dennis wasn't remebered that much - he was so talented but when compared to Cheryl, didn't generate much of a star factor which is also quite sad.)

I never could understand why Bonnie & Mary were dropped. The pared down crew after season one was a bit of a disappointment - but, we got over it. No counseling was required.

MickeyMouseClubChannel Same here. I get that the mainstays were much more recognizable, but some of the other Mouseketeers should have had opportunities to get in the spotlight.

There was no limit to the talent on this show. Were adult shows even this amazing?

I wonder if Mark Sutherland ever achieved his dream of becoming a DJ? He's the real mystery man among the former Mouseketeers. Nobody knows what became of him after the show or even if he is still alive.

I'm not sure either, but I just assume that Mark is alive because even though the Mouseketeers aren't that famous anymore, the death of one definitely wouldn't go unnoticed by the media. And as far as I know, only 8 of them have died (Mike Smith, Charley Laney, Tim Rooney, Cheryl Holdridge, Don Grady, Bonnie Lynn Fields, Annette Funicello, and Dickie Dodd).

Is there a link to the song Dry gulch cowboy? I’ve heard the song several times on the show, with Sharon, Gillespie sisters and now here but cant seem to find it anywhere

I am very curious about the strongbox; I have seen them awarded in many videos, but I have never seen a clip in which a strongbox is opened. Is that part of the episode lost? Just curious.

At the end of each hourlong talent round-up day episode right after the cartoon, Jimmie Dodd would give one of his doddisms and then he would be interrupted by some strange seahorse reminding Jimmie about the strongbox. Then one or two of the Mouseketeers would open the strongbox and we would see what's in it. Right after this was the closing song.

Darlene was such a dreadful ham. I'm beginning to believe Lonnie Burr's assessment of her as someone who had a compulsive need to always be the centre of attention.

Chris Banner she got a lot of attention when she got older ,,holy moley she should of strayed with being a nurse ,, she couldn’t take it ,,,I’m a nurse and if she got upset by being called a Mouseketeer..then she wasn’t toying enough ..but she was in jail ...oh brother how shameful

What a waste! Darlene Gillespie should have had a career on Broadway. She could sing, dance and act. She wasn't beautiful but she wasn't homely either

@@67classical She looked like a rat! She was very difficult to work with and jealous of Annette Funicello and Cheryl Holdridge. She had to be the center of attention and was pushy about it. Some people have the nerve to compare to the late great and BEAUTIFUL Judy Garland! No way was she even close.
